I use to enjoy Brother Daniel's weekly sermons, but can't seem to find them. Anybody knows if they are still on-line?
Oh yes, I was ordained about two years ago.

i found out recently that both valis and avishai are fellow universal life church people.
maybe we should form a tax-exempt corporation and legally-swindle money from the government like our alma mater (da borg) does?

unnatural love
what a fascinating turn of events.
being your first born son - heaven sent.
Unnatural Love
What a fascinating turn of events. Being your first born son - Heaven sent. To being an outcast with no need to repent.
From the feeding chair to the barber's chair, it started out dysfunctional and all did stare - mostly fatherless, alone, and on welfare. But you gave me tender loving care as you taught me the Lord's prayer. I didn't realize our state of affairs - Covered over it with a series of prayers, even with the neighborhood in desperate need of repair.
You give us your best, filling us with dignity and pride, growing up in the city ? The Lower East Side. Holding back the tears, never cried, as I denied the time my father died. Went outside, no one to confide, allowing my conscious to be my guide.
Wondered how to pay the rent, had letters of intent, but needed government supplements ? No matter which way I went, It amounted to dollars and cents.
In his absence during adolescent, was also the absence of many presents. Missed many events which the Pagans represents - Religion filled the void - Heaven sent.
But the religious organization caused much frustration over salvation, education, and masturbation. No inspiration in the congregation, when it taught isolation through a revelation of mis-education. But accepted it because of the interpretation of the Watchtower publications.
You say Eternal death is my destination, no resurrection, just complete annihilation in the heat of evaporation. Did I have a right to challenge this explanation by God's so called ?spirit directed organization?? Was it guilt by association? No, the ruling was disassociation.
How long can a boy be under his mother's wing - religiously or biologically before he can have his own ideology? What Christian theology, justifies this methodology, of hurting people with no apology in this age of technology?
I'm your son you can't deny - why disown me because of scriptures misapplied? Why ostracize, vilify, and deny me for being all I could be? Oh can't you see, a apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You call this love - How can it be? When it breaks up families to such a large degree. So much anxiety with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
I'm a parent proud and wild, but can't imagine turning my back on my child.
Association with me you forbid, but what about your own two grandkids.
Teenagers they have become, witnessing a mother's neglect for her son.
You accept lawless people of ill repute, a rapist, a theft, a prostitute. But what about your son for whom there is no substitute?
You plead, come back to the Watchtower Organization and all will be well, but how can I submit to this spiritual blackmail? The perpetrators of which should be jailed for deceiving the flock on such a grand scale. Common sense, reasoning, and education will prevail over this search for the proverbial holy grail.
You were wrong in saying the organization is where I belong - I knew all along what was right and what was wrong. The pride and dignity I learned early on prevents me from signing another Kingdom song.
I will not give in to this inhumane way of life, not me, my kids or my wife. We will continue our quality of life amidst this worlds turmoil and strife.
No need to debate - of 'worldly' reasoning you can't relate. It's too late for me not to hate what I was taught from '64 to '98 ? The contributing factors of my emotional state.
No need to shout or pout the 'little boy' is crying for the love he went without. I realize beyond a shadow of a doubt ? as long as you are devout our relationship will never work out - so much to think about.
It's what it is, accepted from below and above - This thing I call Unnatural Love.

my nephew a jw who is white is dating another jw who is black with the intent to announce their engagement soon.. i had been reading about the past history of the jw's opinion of the black race.
old writings that said they were gods people too, but not intelligent as white etc and not qualified intellectually to go door to door to teach etc.that all people would be white in the new system.. i had read of a rope being run down the pews of the fellowship halls to separate the races during services during the 50's early 60's at the halls that did allow intergrated services... this was supposed to have taken place even up to a few years after de-segregation in the schools and other public places took effect.. that in some areas they had their own hall to meet at and the whites had theirs.
at one point the members of the black hall had asked to meet at the white hall as their building was being repaired or soemthing and they were told no, that some of the members of the white hall wouldn't understand or approve.. and i read that even up into the late 90's, many black members still weren't being given postions or responsibilities that whites had held since the beginning of the jw's.. i was just wondering how far they've come along to improve this image and if anyone knows thier opinion of interracial marriages.
I concur with everything blondie said - Right on point, especially the first sentence:
JWs usually reflect the prejudices of their era.
Recalling interracial marriages - One white sis. told me (c mid '80's) that she wouldn't marry a black bro. b/c marriage is hard enough, why complicated it by marrying someone outside your race. Believe it or not, I thought that was such a profound statement, and often quoted her when the subject came up. In hind sight it was such BS - and a perfect politically correct answer.
I knew some interracial Bethelite couples, who told me they would get weird stares from other Bethelites.
But yes, the scenario is usually a white man marrying a black sister.

did anyone see the movie 'talk to her' by pedro almodovar?
tragic, shocking, and different but makes for a great movie, even with the sub-titles.. peace - ll :)
Yes I got the DVD today and watched it during lunch - of course I have to watch the movie again at home.
I don't think the nurse was gay b/c he loved a women and got her pregnant, in fact, his love for her was all he lived for. On the surface he had gay-ish way, but I think the director was challenging men and their ability to be emotional and comfortable with their feminine side.
I think it was tragic b/c like most tragedies someone has to die for someone to live or vise-versa.
The sexual undertones and metaphors were hugh - literally (Once you see the movie you'll know what I'm talking about - talk about head first!)
I enjoyed the movie b/c it made me think about the power of love, and the lengths people will go to pursue it. But as my grandmother would say - "ain't that much love in the world."
I almost cried but could not get pass the obvious 'rape' which made me want to kill the protagonist myself. But all in all - I recommend viewing this movie - good piece of film work in every which way.
Peace - LL :)

many jehovah's witnesses believe what they've been told about ex-witnesses.
they say that exjws simply want to live an immoral life.
they say that exjws cannot live up to "jehovah's standards".
I'm an Ex-Jdub b/c I want to live my life. Once I left I realize what's immoral to one is not immoral to another. Who are Jdub to interpret morality - I feel their policies and interpretations are highly immoral.
Jah's standards? I think they mean the GB's warped standards. So if the Jdummies says an ex-JDub wants to live an immoral life based on their standards of morality, than so be it. But I think Ex-Jdubs leave because they what to be who they are without judgment.

shouldn't a religion bring people closer to god?
it would seem that many became atheist after being deceived by the wts.
unlike other religions, the wts was very precise in what was to happen during the 20th century.
I refuse to label myself, Atheist, Agnostic, etc. b/c there is no label to describe what I believe or don't believe. I may fit other people's label as Agnostic, but I won't limit who I am to a label or a belief.
Well once I left the BORG I questioned everything. So the same aversion I have towards the BORG for brain washing me, and deceiving me I have towards just about everything else in life, or everything else that molded my thinking. I'm thankful to the BORG for helping me open my eyes to the World, and seeing things for what they are instead of what people wish them to be.
