i am an inactive witness.
the problem i'm having is that i have a 1 year old daughter.
not that she's the problem, but jw's believe that only jw's will survive armageddon.
How many people stay 'loyal' to the organization because of fear? Countless thousands, no doubt.
I always enjoy your posts, jst2laws, because they do remind me of what seeking God is all about - love. We learn about love from God, and the natural response God would like to illicit -it seems safe to assume - is that that we would learn to love ourselves and others.
Fear and threats do not inspire love or devotion... they dehumanize us. I want my children to love me because they are secure in their relationship with me, NOT because I'll kill them and all of their pets and stuffed animals if they don't behave in a particular set of capricious manners.
It has been my experience that extricating oneself from the tight mind control that kept us in "formation" (from another thread; struck me as particularly poignant) takes quite a bit of time and mental effort..... the curve goes up... with some ups and downs all along. There is good company here.
Let us know how things go for you, beepers, please?

Hey Prisca!!!
It's only water from a stranger's tear (Peter Gabriel)
i know that while being a witness, we were not really allowed to watch horror movies, or anything that smacked of demonism.
anything supernatural.
my question is, what movie or movies, since leaving the society, has really scared or upset you?
tatiana... omg... I saw the movie "The Exorcist" when I was like 14 years old. I cut school with a friend and we went into philadelphia on the train to see it. I couldn't sleep for weeks. I made my little brother (he was seven, like he could've done anything, but hey) sleep in the other twin bed in my room, with all of the lights on, for a month.
To answer your question: this movie scared the piss out of me. It still would, if I saw it again. Something - anything - with the kind of power to take over your mind and body - scares me. I think my fear of demons had a lot to do with my getting intrigued with JW's. Ick.......

please forgive me but i must brag about this..... if anyone saw the pre-game stuff tonight re: cal ripken jr's last game: the portrait of his father - an amazing portrait by t. ginez - it was framed by yes, a fellow ex-jw, moi!
was it not awesome?
posted after too many beers sat.
thanks tina....
We were all sobbing like fools at the bar... Baltimore is fun tonight!
The frame was a Roma - beautiful chestnut wood with raised ramin embellished finish. The glass alone - true-vue museum glass - was $800.00. In fact, you could just frame the glass by itself - it is that beautiful. Sports is weird..... Cal is a true icon, though.
The season was extended of course because of the NYC tragedy. The impact it has had on so many things continues to boggle my mind. I'm continually wondering about this. But, I need to stop writing now, because I am so drunk!!! I wouldn't want to post anything weird on this DB!!!! Which would be just about anything I can think of saying right now!!! That would be too weird!!!! HAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem.

i have read a great deal from the silentlamb's web site, not to mention other sites that are following this atrocity!
it would seem to me, and you can probibly bet, when something like this comes to the attention of the elders; that all of thier children are warned to stay clear of "publisher alleged child abuser"!
even though they are supposed to be "hush-hush" about it.
To You Know:
I keep seeing how you reiterate that it's imperative that we "have faith". What with all of the trickery of the demons and the exposure of the corruption within the "organization", what exactly do YOU have faith in? How do you manifest this faith? I echo both aintthatcute's and bluesapphire's questions, and would sincerely be interested in your reply.
Thank you, lauralisa

my question for everyone is how did you leave the org?
not really what led up to it but what did you do to no longer be a part of it?.
personally, i think i have to have one of the more humerous stories of leaving.
I don't have time to make any personal remarks, tho I'd like to, but I have to say MUM: welcome and thank you for your very important contribution...

being lost...is of course, the usual state of things here.
what's surprising is that they (the lost) think that pulling scriptures out of context, isolating mosaic laws mean't for one purpose and one time, is somehow refuting scripture.. they like to ignore the fact that jesus is the revealed yahweh and he sets the mark, not any organisation nor any pious individual.
we relate scripture to him and we interpret scripture by his life amongst mankind.
jonjonsimons,
Your post stunned me. Please do not ever stop posting.
