I think that is considered acceptable and a virtue. We atheists, yeah, we never explored faith---or we are just angry at God---or we just fear death---or we just met the wrong god---or we are just too lazy to check it out---or we are just hard-hearted---or we just don't know---or we haven't been called---or we don't have ears to hear.

I think Hal Seed writes religious literature. This looks like yet another attempt for a person of faith to pretend to understand the mind of a non-believer. It's usually amusing, usually wrong, and there will be no telling them that. I recently viewed a conversation of believesr discussing why atheists are atheists or whatever, and the old nonsense was trotted out with authority. I've given up on it, because from their comments even those that claim to understand really will not be able to.
So I give it a big LOL.

Yes well for her she must love Jehovah more than anything or anyone. For a JW that also translates into ceasing to love some. Most of us can spread our love around, give more to some, less to others, but JW's find themselves in the either/or situations. Her kind of devotion is destructive, and maybe she will see that. You are the head of the household, within her context, and therefore the head of your child. How you balance that out will be specific to your situation, but you don't have to support your son being indoctrinated. Teach him critical thinking. Ask him truly open ended questions (and NOT the leading questions Caleb's Mom uses--LOL) His best protection is critical thinking, and parents should think of that as a skill they must teach their children---along with making their beds and doing their homework. It should top the list.

Yahweh is the God of righteous war and is the masculine element of the Elohim model. However it's not JUST war that this Aspect of God represents, but also the coming together of certain armies. This denotes a purpose to a particular war as people are grouping for a cause, not just for violence and domination. Yahweh is a peacemaker and a peacekeeper. Is this not the traditional role of the man?
Yes, well the Soviet Union was also a peacemaker. In fact, so was the Roman Empire. We can look at colonialism as a peacemaker---as other countries set up arbitrary hierarchies among groups that may have fought more (no sense using valuable resources and losing cheap labor through those silly conflicts).
Enforced peace, by sheer power of will. We see what happens when that power is removed. So, no, I don't agree this is peacemaking. A god of war does not make peace, unless it is in god of war style---total domination. I see a common tactic is to redefine words. A purpose to war--grouping for the cause---therefore peacemaker.
Only in your mind, Sab, and I have learned that once it is there you will defend it to the bloody end, offering every answer to every possible question, something that no human can really do, therefore driven by your own idea as you tortuously and forcefully manipulate every fact to fit your idea.

Sab, from my reading I understand that Yahweh was a god of war. The Israelites adopted this god (perhaps because they were in war mode) and elevated him to the only god. When we look at the many personalities of this god, some very opposed to other personalities, it really does make sense that they may have been trying to evolve this god into one that encompassed a bit more than war. Perhaps borrowing traits from other gods, or simply giving this god a fuller spectrum of human emotions.
It might be helpful to really research the other gods of the area and time. There are many parallels to other ancient Mesopotamian gods---even in their laws.

*sigh* Unstop, I don't know your story or situation in full, but your wife has been taught by the WT that emotional terrorism is the way to control everyone. The tool of withholding affection and love to force everyone in line is sanctioned by her religion. But she can't make you believe what you no longer believe---don't know why she thinks she can. You may want to say that to her, if you reach a point where you are discussing it.
So it's only natural that her first reflex is to use WT approved tactics to try and push you in line and control you. So let it cool down. She did what she was programmed to do, but with some thought, she very well make back off that threat. Afterall, she has no grounds, and that should sink in soon. Yet in the end, the WT rips families apart. Whe may decide she doesn't want to be with someone whose goals are so drastically opposed to hers, and the WT reinforces that this she be at the top of her mind at all times. They don't encourage her to find other places to nurture and find common ground, but make getting you back in the fold her top priority by far.
Sounds like you are in for some difficult times, but nobody can tell you the outcome. Just go in with you eyes open and be the best that you can be. And that's all you can really do.
