Hi Everyone,

I haven't been here for a little while. Just keep in mind that it is very common to accuse anyone that throws a wrench into the process as being crazy. Happens everyday--it's not even original. At least they aren't claiming that Satan is sending out fake annointments. LOL However, after they read my comment, a light bulb may pop on and we will see it in an article soon. Afterall, doesn't Satan have an opposite for everything Jehovah offers? Faithful and Discreet Slave vs Evil Slave. God's Kingdom vs United Nations. Christendom vs Christianity.

This wasn't about giving to charity It was about accepting charity. Look, I hate the WT. But there is no such policy. However, whe it comes to giving to charity, yes that gets complicated. You hve to make sure it's not babylon the great, red cross, united way---most JW's just don't give. They believe it goes to better use at the WT.

Maybe the'brother' was a bethelite - thought I saw a document that bethelites sign, that states any money they have over and above their expenses goes to headquarters.

Possible, but Bethelites are not allowed to work jobs outside those assigned by Bethel. This guy said he worked with a JW. But I also know that you can give a Bethelite money for his own use...so I'm not sure about this either.

I don't believe this is a WT policy at all. I don't know what actually happened--if the story is true. Perhaps it is true and this Witness was nuts. But there is no such policy.

so i went to my sister's wedding this past sunday, which happened to be smack dab in the middle of a church service.

my all faithful husband told me it was a dfing offense and that he was obligated to tell the elders that i was going to a church.

i really could care less about the actual act of being df it is the fact that my husband felt the need to "turn me in".

LOL, Blondie. I'm sure I did mean the tower---I'm not to be trusted in these matters anymore. I used to be pretty good at recalling publications, but I've lost my edge. Thank you for clarifying that.

Yikes, Marriage Counseling. Just the kind of setting that makes a person relax and open up. Just be careful--don't give yourself away until you're ready. Maybe take a copy of the 2007 KM. This way you can limit your argument to THE DIRECTION OF THE FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE, and you won't run as high a risk of outing yourself. Turn it back on him. Ask him if he is adding more than the necessary things. If the GB is valid, then he should have no problem. I hate when people use scriptures to validate anything they want to do, and to control others.

It's because a ton of them are masochists.

I think there is something to that. Also, ask any sister who is not "scripturally free". You'll learn that she is reminded of that at every corner. I got told that SO much, and like, I already knew that. For some reason, they loved to point it out. I suppose it made other sisters happy that there was not so much competition for the 3 eligible brothers per circuit.

You know, but when that 2007 KM came out, I remember some thought it meant it was no longer a conscience matter! I remember someone reasoning with that 2007 KM to say her son had done something wrong by attending a church wedding. Another person used an even earlier publication to reason that her son had done something wrong in attending a wedding. I always marveled at this. We already had SOOOoooo many rules, and we would beat each other and make it harder. It used to irk me so very much, but was a losing battle. Perhaps your husband hears the same tone when he reads the literature.

You don't have to answer this if it is too personal---but do you think he may be using your religion to control you? I had that happen to me. Everything became a theocratic issue. Could he feel like you usurped his headship, and now he'd like to get the power of the elder body behind him? Aren't you happy that this won't affect you nearly as much as he might think it will?

I think it's a conscience matter--but severely frowned on. I don't want to talk about your husband, because i know neither of you--but perhaps he should at least get his information straight before threatening to turn your 3 strand cord into a 6 strander. Sheesh. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this.

JW's not a cult

okay, before you fly off the handle--i wrote a blog on how my research proves jw's are a cult (no, i haven't read the cult book yet).

There's quite a bit of ambiguity and uncertainty when defining a cult.

Does this mean you are going to take up my challenge and tell the people you study with that you are here defending the WTBTS? Or, if you prefer, encourage the congregation in the mic with stories of how you are trying to reason with unrepentant apostates? You are free to do so because this is not a cult and no one will hold it against you! They won't worry about the outside information, and maybe they will clap you on the shoulder and tell you to keep up the good work!

When you do it, will you share the experience with us? Perhaps we are being too harsh. Perhaps we are being unfair. You could prove it to us. Tell them where you spend your free time. They are not a cult. You won't be marked.
