  Divorce was sooooo common in my old hall, we barely batted an eye anymore. It was just a given. Even brand new marriages broke up quickly.

  birthdays stem from astrology. Only two birthdays were mentioned in the bible and at both parties someone was beheaded. undue honor that belongs to god, and blah blah blah blah.

  I guess the other things are justified because they note achievement---worldly as it may be----and institutions.

  Yeah, Yeah, don't say it. I know. LOL

  i've been watching from the sidelines for a while... reading about your experiences and it has helped me a lot!!!.

  i am a 27 yo girl, i converted into a jw @ 20, at was going thru a difficult time in my life and they bastards sucked me in!!!

  i did not realize how controlling things were going to get... about 1 year into my study i moved w another single sister and then baptize, looking back i think i went thru w baptism because i fell pressure by the "loving" congregation that wanted the best for me... i remember coming out of the pool and one of the brothers saying "another victim" and taking a pic of me... anyways, that wasn't the worst of it.... remember single female!!

  Welcome! When I first started as a JW in my twenties, I felt like I was living on principals. As time went on, it became more and more rules and judgement was EVERYWHERE. It's toxic, and I'm glad you are FREE!

  Were you ever DF'd? For what and how long?

  i was df'd when i was 20 or so for fornication.

  i got reinstated when i was 24. i had a son during that time and i was worried about us if we didn't get back to the fold and 'protection' of the organization.

  I knew someone that was never in trouble, had pioneered, was a good dub. After she was df'd for the first time, she attended every meeting. She wrote many letters. They still kept her out for 6 years! It was crazy. Even her ex told the elders that if they were holding a grudge on his behalf, he was quite over it. He wanted them to let her back in for his children's sake. Still nothing. After 6 years of faithful meeting attendance and all the rest of the trash they FINALLY reinstated her---but not before she missed some important events in her children's lives.
