Atheists going to hell...who said this was true?

according to many christians, atheists will go to hell for not believing in god.

this is written in the bibe..sorry i am not sure exactly where...would be nice if someone could direct me to the exact passage.

i feel however this contrived just to promote the reason for persecution of non believers.

I was reading some Gnostic scriptures myself. It is amazing all of the writings that are excluded from the bible. The portion I read really elevated women, and particularly, Mary Magdelene. They even talked about the jealously the men of the day felt toward her for having an honored position. The scriptures chosen for inclusion reflect this. Magdelene is forever a whore.

It's a book of man. Even if it specifically says atheists are going to hell, it is no more authoritative than an Archie Comic.

they want their own to be "no part of the world".

they do not sanction unnecessary association with "worldly people".

Cliff Robertson, Wonderful Actor, Dead at 88

one of my all-time favorite actors.

i was surprised that he was 88 - he's always seemed to exude such youthfulness, that i would have guessed him younger.

Oh, sad. I always remembered the movie as Flowers for Algernon---but I guess that was the book. I think I read it, but I was so young when I saw the movie, the book was pretty advanced for me when I read it.

Great actor.

i tried to fade off the map by moving 30 miles initially in 2004 after i exited in late 2003 .

the first several years they didn't bother me.

i ran into a elder from my former congregation in late 2005 in an antique store - he tried telling me i was wrong for stopping attending meetings.

Flipper--most people I knew that hid something for years did not get DF'd---cuz they had years of "works befitting repentance" under their belt. HOWEVER, they ALWAYS faced a JC and were reproved and priviliges taken. They certainly did not qualify to be elders! schmucks!

When you throw in the local rules, this probably doubles. I remember a young MS in our hall changed congregations---he went to one an entire 10 minutes away---and they deemed his hair too extreme to serve. He changed it. It was modern, but not shocking by any means---yet 10 minutes away they were shocked. I heard about another hall that would have the young women kneel on a top step. If the hem of her skirt didn't touch the floor, her skirt was judged too short.

We had a rule that only families with small children could sit in the back rows of the wide middle aisle. They would even make the elderly and sick move who chose the seats to be closer to the bathroom etc. A few of the elders had small children and everyone else needed to just move the hell aside. And then it morphed into stern looks for anyone with children that sat elsewhere---

It's just endless.

I'm pretty impressed with the original video. I no longer discuss cospiracy with conspiracy theorists, because the cognitive dissoance is so deep and impenetrable. I am so impressed that he changed his conclusion. It gives one hope.

911 forgotten amongst JWs

i noticed over the last 10 years that in every 9/11 anniversary, jws that i know personally don't even mention it.

not a word about the anniversary.

not a compassionate comment, not a prayer....nothing.

Nicely said Blondie. Even as we mourn the deaths of our own in this country, we turn our backs on our own. First responders can't even get help with their high rate of cancer and premature death brought on by that deadly dust---congress isn't convinced that the dust caused the cancers yet. And those that do have documented, clear illnesses due to the dust, only NOW are getting special compensation, and only after they pass a background check to make sure they aren't terrorists. This is shameful. If we accidentally treat a first responder for cancer not caused by the debris, so what? Is it really that important?

Then we have 45 thousand people a year that die because they lacked medical care and were diagnosed too late with treatable disease.

That's what I see when I look into the face of politicians that pretend to care.

But this is still a national tragedy that affected all of us, so it's appropriate to acknowledge it.
