Were witnesses so only the spanish congragation, who pay zero attention to their cards, actually come to our door. Our last name is cruz so they feel the need to come I guess. Personally, I would just not open the door. Or mention a single "apostate" thought and they will never be there again.

Are JW's allowed to be bartenders?
by stillstuckcruz inmy brother(ms) just got a job at a hotel and mentioned to my mother that they may train him to be a bartender.
she said that we(jw's) are not allowed to do so.
is this in any of the publications?

But how could a person professing to be a Christian serve as chauffeur for a gang of bank robbers?
^LOL!!! I have never seen that before. How many people would ACTUALLY get involved whatsoever with a gang of bank robbers. Even by "worldy" standards, thats a terrible situation

So anyone here went to the Zone Visit meeting?
by stillin9 inwell, i was considered spiritual enough (lol) to be given a red badge that said "special meeting, united states branch zone visit" on it!
what a privilege!
all excited, i counted down (not really but you know) to the day the meeting was going to be held on, which was the 22nd.

I would imagine it produced about as much hype as the "new light" for the 2011 DC. What a dud THAT turned out to be.
You must be putting on quite the show to be picked for the meeting. Are you an elder or something? I would NEVER be picked for such a "privelege". In FS a few weeks ago, one of my favorite elders told me I wasn't being considered for any more responsibilities in the congregation at the moment because I was doing the bare minimum to get by. As you can imagine, I was quite devastated at that. lol

I tried finding infomation using different phrases in the WT library CD, but found nothing. It's interesting because at my job I serve beer but thats all. I'm just wondering why bartending is not allowed.

"Theocratic Warfare" and the Annual Report
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inone of the things i certainly noticed as a jw, and even during the time i was in bethel, was the complexities of reporting "truth.".
beginning with an observation on a personal level, i consider myself an honest person.
but something happened along the way, beginning when i pioneered.

I might have faked on the hours, but I would NEVER choose to fake on Bible studies. There's no way I would ever allow the "higher-ups" to begin thinking that field service might ACTUALLY accomplish something. Sure it does for a few people, but i certainly wouldnt add to it. :)

How did/do/will you answer the question..."What will you do in heaven?"
by stillstuckcruz inwe all know the jdubs boast about the earthly hope.
they also love to boast about their conversations with those who feel they have a heavenly hope.
they will mention how when they ask people this question: "what will you do in heaven?

We all know the Jdubs boast about the Earthly hope. They also love to boast about their conversations with those who feel they have a heavenly hope. They will mention how when they ask people this question: "What will you do in heaven?", that the only answer ever given is "to be with the Lord", that individual having no real idea of what he would be doing. Personally I've never had such an experience so I'm curious as to how others might answer it....

Who really is the "faithful and discreet slave."
by EmptyInside ini've been assuming it was the governing body.
i remember in pioneer school, well, that was 20 years ago, the faithful slave was annointed, but so were the domestics.
it was the annointed "feeding" the annointed spritually.

It really makes me wonder since they have zilch to do with any "dispensing of truth". Sure, the regular anointed ones carry the message from door to door, but so do the rest of the witlesses. Unless you are a part of that Elite group of seven or so men, Jehovah find no other use for such individuals.

Here is the funeral talk outline. VERY discraceful.
by stillstuckcruz inthis is truly terrible.
i just love the statement "instead of eulogizing the deceased, use the material in this outline to give a fine witness concerning the truth.
" in other words, utterly disregard the deceased.

This is TRULY terrible. I just love the statement "Instead of eulogizing the deceased, use the material in this outline to give a fine witness concerning the truth." In other words, utterly disregard the deceased. Let's use them as a prop to get out message across.
My elder father gave this talk about three weeks ago for a sister that died. Followed this exact pattern. One of the most awful statements is..."doctrinal points can be presented as beliefs of the deceased, which served as motivation for him." Ok, so lets use this whether they were motivated my our made-up points or not. It's a good witness so lets go with it....

Why would God be racist?
by mankkeli inin the old testament, can you think of any conceivable reason that an all knowing all powerful god might logically select one small desert tribe in the desert to be his "chosen" people, and leave all the other races of the world out?
isn't that a bit racist?
i mean, he did not choose chinese people, or african people, he specifically chose the jews, and at least as far as i've seen in the narrative, he pretty much lets them treat everyone else however they like.. .

Well just look at the governing body. Jehovah apparently chose a few white men in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to be his "chosen" people for dispensing Truth. Most of the so-called "anointed" who profess to be of the heavenly hope are from what race? Raymond Franz, his father, and his mother all professed to be of that class. Does Jah(from the JW religion) favor white people? Sure seems like it. He may have thrown an African-American in there so as not to appear racist. Who knows. lol.
Nearly all depictions of biblical characters are nearly all white people, except slaves. But I don't believe he'sracist. I think He knows what he's doing....hopefully.

SURVEY: How many who are still "IN" are really out mentally (Do I need to put " S E X " in the Title to increase the number of hits on it?)
by DesirousOfChange inthere was quite a debate on another post about the increase/decrease throughout the wt history surrounding 1975 and subsequent time periods when ther have been major adjustments in doctrine.
it was said that the stasticis from 1965-1985 do not reflect a massive defection, despite the failure of the wt's prophecy for the end of the wicked system of things by 1975. .
i see the overlapping generation as another potention issue to cause fallout.

Im in. Simply for the sake of family. Idk what to do just yet. But in end, I choose life over family. They will choose the religion over me anyway, and I have accepted that, hard as it may be.
