It went great. Got commentary from everyone on how "wonderful" a speaker I am.....how they hope to see my giving "public talks soon". bla bla bla. If i hadn't procrastinated and had more time, I would have come up with a non-anti-JW-yet-still-striking-and-not-applying-to-the-BORG talk.

The Control is simply amazing
by outsmartthesystem inat the kind advice of so many of you (and hassan) on this board....i ceased attempting to discuss doctrine/failures with my wife many months ago.
but unfortunately that does not prevent her from grilling me from time to time.
during one of our infamous "discussions" she said she was going to "investigate" this supposed "proof" that is out there regarding 587bc.

Has she examined examined doctrinal flip-flops? That was what really got to me. the "superior Authorities" flip-flop is a very simple one to use since it's straight forward and is discussed in the Proclaimers Book. Of course, that "candid" description make no mention of a flip flop, but only refers to a single change. If she is unwilling to even look at the flipflops from our own literature, she's got a looooooong way to go

I really am beginning to despise the "public" editions. It enables them to completely falsify JW's. "Sure! JW parents don't FORCE a child to accept their beliefs. That would be cruel, wrong, and would take away they free will. But as long as they accept whatever answer we give them when they question, they can still still live under our roof and accosiate with us. WHAT LOVE!"
These new articles are really full of lies. It's incredible how current JW's won't bat an eye at them....maybe because many don't read them themselves.

@sd-7: I was about 2/3 through my talk when I saw your outline. I stole your intro and conclusion and fused it to make one conlusion:
Jesus said that “the love of the greater number would cool off”. As part of his sign of the conclusion of the systems of things, Jesus Christ stated those words to his apostles not long before his death. At no time in human history have Jesus' words proven more true. This world shows "no natural affection". Marriages end in divorce; parents abuse their children; children neglect their parents. The sad state of Satan's world is in large part due to a lack of love.
But despite the lack of love that pervades this world, with the love of Jehovah God through Christ Jesus, we can be confident that we will never fail to live up to our name as Jehovah's people today. May we carefully meditate on this precious quality of love, as we joyously look forward to the day when the God of love, Jehovah, will establish his righteous Kingdom on the earth, thus ensuring for all time that love will never fail.
---->I also stole a few sentences in between. Very good despite your "rustiness". lol.
@sir82: I would love to go out with a bang like that. But I'm too chicken to do so.

The title is simple "Why love never fails". (1 cor 13:8)(1 John 4:8)
(1 Corinthians 13:4-8) Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, 5 does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. 6 It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 (a part)Love never fails. But whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with.
(1 John 4:8) He that does not love has not come to know God, because God is love.
I only have one paragraph so far. The first scripture and two whole sentences. 6 more hours till showtime...

My first conversation with an "anointed"
by Terry ini was not "born in".. i was recruited.. i've told the story dozens of times.. it began as a "best friend" at school comraderie and ended with my baptism 4 or 5 years later.. i had no desire up front to join any church or attend any services or even to associate myself with people who talk about "god" and "faith".. it creeped me out.. my family was not sociable.
they were like hermits.. my grandmother had been reared catholic and had attended convent school.
she told horror stories about the stern, disciplinarian mother superior and corporal punishments by the nuns.. i had the bible read to me barely at all.

My only "anointed" experience was a brother who visited our hall one day. He had a hook for a hand. It was appanrent he wasn't all there in the head.

JW Apologists, Lurkers, etc., can you prove the selection in 1919?
by garyneal ini mean, this is the pivotal doctrine that will prove beyond all shadow of a doubt that this religion really is the one true religion.. why is this so?.
why not just read and study the bible and see that the witnesses adhere to it and therefore must be the one true religion?.
because a lot of what the witnesses say that bible says is merely their interpretation of the bible from my point of view.

"It is important to understand that in most Bible-based cults, although the member is aggressively taught doctrine, it is not the doctrine that holds him in the group. It is the sense that the group is God's true people, a feeling cultivated by techniques of mind control. Thus, to engage the cult member in a Biblical argument or discussion is often futile." Stephen Hassan Releasing the Bonds p.145
---->That's the reason they will not show you. Generally speaking, most JW's, especially newer ones, haven't the foggiest idea about that time. But they feel they are "God's people" and so anything they say goes.

Have any other religion flip-flopped doctrinally?
by stillstuckcruz ini am attempting to see if a comparison can be made to other religions.
obviously we all know that jw's have fip-flopped on many doctrinal issues.
but are there any other religions and cults that have done this?

I am attempting to see if a comparison can be made to other religions. Obviously we all know that JW's have fip-flopped on many doctrinal issues. But are there any other religions and cults that have done this? Better yet, any other cults that claim "truth" and "holy spirit guidance" that have done this?

In Your opinion, what percentage of the ACTIVE 7 Million Jehovah's witnesses will obey prohibitions on blood transfusions?
by Balaamsass ini have heard on this site, and others that some doctors say many "jehovahs witnesses" actually accept blood transfusions for themselves and family when the chip are down.
i have been told by hospital laison members (relatives) that the reason for the "bedside elder vigil" is actually to keep patients and family members from "weakening".
now i know a lot of people identify themselves as jws on old medical charts and such (according to pew research and personal experiance...so i am simply interested in opinions on active current jws.. my personal feeling is 2/3 to 75% would allow themselves or family members to die.

Well technically I'm still active though mentally out. So I guess I'm a part of the 7 million. Id accept the transfusion when it came time to do so.

Since the new song book came out, the word is yes.....abysmal. Something funny happened last year at our meeting. We were still in transition of the new songs. The song cut off halfway through the song. I though we could keep it going. And we did for the next two sentences. But after that, everyone abruptly stopped and it went downhill because no one knew the tone of the song. ....You kinda had to be there, but it was hilarious.
Overall, the singing is so-so. You have sister-who-sings-louder-than-everyone-else. Brother Opera. Brother and Sister-Off-Key.
