i just returned home from the hospital.
my sister in law had a mis- carriage today.
it was a very sad day for her and my wifes family.
I've learned long ago that at times like this, it's best to keep your damn mouth shut. Something a lot of elders need to learn. No one remembers anything kind that is said, they are too numb. But stupid comments stick around forever. Best to just be there for someone.

Larc I thought the same thing. Very calm manner, smiling. Although I'm angry about having been a witness I certainly wouldn't put a witness or the borg in the same category as the Taliban. Liars and fakes for certain, but no witness is that evil.

no doubt one of the most ask questions ever.
no matter what age you are (in my case fairly young), you've seen gilligan's island, and heard the inevitable argument (especially amoung men), who do you prefer better: ginger or mary anne.. well, i decided to bring the debate here to jw.com, see if there's an (ex) jw consensus on the issue.. my personal favourite is mary anne, by the way.
they were both very attractive, but mary anne's personalty was more down to earth (or naive) to me, and i find that more desirable.
While Ginger would have been a wonderful way to spend 2 minutes, I think for the long haul Mary Anne is tops. She still looks nice.

We are talking about pure evil here. Those guys sitting around chatting about how Allah blessed them while looking so holy. The smiles. But right not the best they can hope for is a quick death.

Andi could you be any happier? Those pics remind me of our pre-borg days before I got stupid and got us all into the "truth". All those smiling happy faces, it's good to see. Thanks for putting up those pics.
when you were a witness how sure were you that it was the truth?.
were you totally convinced or did you think it was just the best way to serve a god but not perfect.. it amazes me when i think of how vigourusly i defended the witness and my ideals when on the minisrty and in talking to friends.. what worries me is that if i was so covinced then about what i belive then should i be so convinced now.. back then i was at the pinnacle of understanding or at least i belived i was , do i feel the same now?.
well i try to not be so dogmatic about thing now.
I started out about a 1 but quickly slid down that scale. I came into it quickly, and left fairly quickly too. Just long enough to screw up my son as he married a pioneer. Too bad our mistakes have to rub off on others.
when you were a jw, how many of you actually went to a gathering of some sorts, which could have been called a disguised x-mas- or new years eve party among witnesses?
we always had parties and large dinners with them during this time, as a lot of witnesses were somewhat despondent or lonely because of the festivities going on in the "world".... appreciate your thoughts about this!.

You bet, we all justified the holidays. I know one lady at my old hall had a "love day" where her family exchanged gifts and decorated the house. It was held on new years weekend.

went out for a nice dinner, then gambling at a casino!
