  I lost my sister today

  my mother has six children, all of whom she raised in the truth.

  over the years, all of us (with the exception of my older brother) have either left the org behind or got df'd and never bothered to return.

  today, out of the blue, my baby sister emailed me to say that she's back to attending all the meetings and even when out in service last saturday.

  Thats really a shame. She sounds so unhappy. That is who the witnesses draw, unhappy people. Always looking for the "truth" and easy answers. I wish her the best.

  how can the wts consider an unmarried man in his mid-twenties qualified to be an elder?

  I recall a 17 year old apointed as a MS. It was laughable. Mature? Approachable? Yeah right. So at age 24 he's an elder. Still living at home with mommy and daddy. I enjoyed tormenting him. He had a huge crush on the same girl my son married. He would look so angry and jealous when he saw them at the hall. I would just say "don't they make a lovely couple, she really wanted a spiritual brother in her life". Oh I'm such a turd.

  Would you allow someone else to discipline your kids?

  there is much debate on whether or not a parent should discipline their child by spanking, or sometimes even worse.

  minimus asked about this on a recent thread.. it reminded me of hearing stories about how those in positions of authority would sometimes spank a child.

  the first that comes to mind is teachers.

  I have spanked my children and feel that it was a useful tool. As stated here it has to be done with love, any form of discipline has to.

  Now let's see if I can tell this story without venting too much. Don't paddle my kids, I'll do it. Case in point. A principle paddled my son. He deserved it I'm sure, but when he was laying in bed that night he kept crying. Finally I looked at his bottom and he had large welts, some of which turned to blood blisters. I freaked, went to the police station. They called the superintentent of schools at his home and had the principle show up. This all about 9pm. I wanted blood.

  The super tells me to back off as things might not go well for my son. I grabbed him by the front of his shirt and started yelling. Police station, that isn't approved. The short of it was the principle was arrested, tried and convicted. Lost his job. Committed suicide a few months after the trial. I hired an attorney to write a nasty letter to the school board. They sent us a check for several thousand dollars.

  My son finished up in private school which the district had to pay for.

  Hands to yourself. I had paddled the bottom on my son a few times. Never left a mark so I knew he didn't bruise easily. Keep your hands off of others. Not allowed.

  I just felt my blood pressure rise writing this. OK, time to look at pictures of beautiful women. No, that won't work. Fish, yes fish, I'll look at photos of fish.

  it's an interesting question i came across with the new book i'm reading: the reflective life by ken gire.

  i had the privilege of meeting ken a few years ago at a church retreat.

  he was a shy, quiet speaker, with a very unassuming presence.

  Insightful article. I have pondered those thoughts many times. But I recall the simple advice my mom gave me many years ago. I was a church going catholic boy and was as anal as Catholic as I was a dub. But when I bugged her about going to church she would ask me.

  Did you make people smile or frown today son? God loves people that make others smile.

  What Do You Think Is the Typical Attitude Of The Average JW Now?

  do you think that the average elder, ms, pioneer or publisher is different in attitude today?

  would the witness of 10 or 20 years ago, have the same way of thinking as today's jw's?

  I think the average sister is sitting there looking at brothers around the hall and thinking "nice butt".

  I think the average brother is sitting there looking at sisters around the hall and thinking "nice rack"

  JW's in for a long time have to be questioning when the end is coming. When they changed the generation understanding they also promised in the same article that the end certainly would come before the next century.

  Please help me save my marriage - URGENT

  i am fighting to save my marriage, and the person i seem to be fighting against is my husband.

  a little background, we had a rough time dating, because he had a hard time being faithful.

  i caught him cheating three times, and left him, but he kept asking for forgiveness, promising to change, and i bought into it.

  Have you given your husband a reason to change? Does he realize that you are this unhappy? Does he realize that you are ready to walk? If he already knows this then the only option is counseling. My wife was mousy when I married her. After a short time I wasn't sure if I wanted to really be with her. I wanted her to stand her ground. I like a strong woman much more and I think a secure man always does.

  Personally I think Francois has give you good advice about the legal aspects. You need to know exactly where you stand legally.

  I also wonder just why you really want to save the marriage? You are supporting him. Doing the majority of the chores and seem very unhappy. Circle a date on the calender and if it's not right by then, get out.

  Coaching Pressure Keeping me Awake

  in one week my boys basketball team will be at the state championships.

  we are a small highschool but haven't lost a league game all season.

  Coach K and Duke are my favorites. Want to see what my teams uniforms will look like next year? Tune in Duke on ESPN.

  The majority of my time this season has been taken up with teachers and the eligibility problems of two of my players. We raised the barn this season so that if you have a single grade under a C you can't play. This is a problem for two kids. So Every monday morning I'm at school looking at grades and then talking to each teacher who gave a player a low grade. I want a list of missing assignments and I want a list of what that student needs to do in order to get his grade up. I honsetly thought the teachers would love me taking such an interest but that's not the way it is. They really don't want to be bothered. They have told me to leave them alone and go away.

  So a visit to the school board paid off and each monday the teachers are required to give me such a list. Then I visit the students AND his parents. The next morning I visit the student and contact the parents again. I do this until they have picked their grades up. What is nice is not one student has failed to get a C. The GPA of the team is 3.6 and this includes a student that struggles to get C's.

  Yep teachers hate my guts but I've never asked for a favor. I just want to know grades and what they need to do. I really thought they would appreciate that.

  I need an off season.

  Raisn Toes!!??!!

  my father is in the hospital, and the man in the room with him has gangreen on one of his feet.

  now, the first time i saw him, he had 5 toes, two of which were black as coal.

  now, he has 4. wanna know why?

  I have a feeling that bad toes aren't this mans only problems.

  Now if he had taken a whiz in the cold I wonder if he'd be waving around any other raisin body parts?
