by Simon ini remember at a book study the conductor saying something about ho simple everything was and that anyone of us could easily talk for a minute about our beliefs.. everybody froze of course and was hoping he wouldn't pick them.. no one could or wanted to do it even amongst each other !.
it's a sad indictment of the 'faith' isn't it.
i have a theory that 90% of jw's could not tell you what the current beliefs were.

My wife and I visited Bethel for our 5th time in October....yes, we got invited to the ANNUAL Meeting. This was our first Annual Meeting and from the first step onto the Patterson Bethel Grounds to the last, I have to say it was awe inspiring. It is invitation only, and was surprised that they really check them before you can go in! LOL
I'm sure many have heard some things about that meeting. Let me tell you, that it was extremely encouraging. And the explanation given as to the "rearrangement" of responsibilities for the "older" annointed brothers was just perfect. Jehovah really is streamlining the organization, and taking care of the workload for the "Slave". We took tons of notes. The Chairman, Bro. Barr, talked extremely fast towards the end, about the new arrangements ...had to take shorthand :)...But got most of it down.
3 New Legal Corporations formed with new Presidents & V.P's ( Non-Annointed Brothers )...One Corp. was deleted....from what I recall...need to look at our notes again.Anyway, We stayed with a "young" couple :), o.k., 30's...He works for Bro. LaFranca, one of the new Presidents. We had brought our large R.V., and had permission to park it right in front of the residences...We got mistaken for new Gilead Students, as they were just arriving for the new Gilead class! Some also thought I was a C.O. because of the R.V. LOL....
Anyway, We got to stay in our friends Bethel room for 3 nights over the weekend and then he made arrangements for us to have our own "suite" there for 2 nights, Beautiful room and view! Goodies in the fridge and Countertop, cookies, cheeses, etc. Yummy!As a guest, you are allowed to enter anywhere a bethelite does, except the Fitness Center! That's a no, no, for some reason. We had another single brother friend who runs the Kitchen there...so we got another tour of the kitchen and also saw some of the software the brothers use there for organization.
We took our Bethel friends camping afterward, and had a blast in the nearby Catskill mountains.
But, my favorite part was just being with the Bethelites, morning worship, breakfast, lunch, etc....Looking at all the "original" paintings that became cover pictures for our magazines....they hang EVERYWHERE in the hallways! A must see!
My Great GrandParents were Bethelites, married by Bro. Russell....The Family has an autographed bible from him from the wedding.....I just love to go and see why my "heritage" loved Bethel soooo much.
We are looking forward to our 6th visit!Making a trip to Bethel is a MUST for any family or single, AT LEAST ONCE!
I guarantee, once you make your first trip, you will find some way, somehow, to not make it your last! Make your plans now!

Oh yeah I almost forgot. This is funny.
I had been on the pill for 6+ years, came off it last summer in anticipation of getting pregnant. I used back-up methods for 6 months to make sure all those hormones were out of my system and that my period was regular again.
I guess my husband didn't know (?!?!?! how is this possible) that I was using back-up methods for 6 months because he said to his friends he was glad to find out he wasn't "Shooting Blanks for the whole time." LOL, something I know you guys could appreciate.
In actuality, it took 4 months of being off all birth control to get pregnant. Not bad for an old lady! (of 32)

Hippi, congrats to you and yours as well. Your wife must be a little farther along than I am. I think I'm due the first week of December--but I will know for sure after my first OB appt. April 13.
I think I'm only about 4 weeks pregnant now. My husband and daughter are both very happy. My daughter's 11th birthday was yesterday, and she said she's had the best birthday week ever--she found out we're having a baby! Isn't that too cute?
You know what TW--it wasn't you who sent the card, it was TR and his famous 'stings'. Thank you TR the card was quite cute!

I have repented of my SINS! I realized immediately upon telling my parents I was pregnant that I had 'sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.'
My dad must be a heathen, cause he was happy, but my mom reminded me that as an inactive witness, any child I should bear will be cut off at Armageddon! Armed with this useful information, I shall now proceed directly to the abortion clinic.
Why should *I* spend my hard earned money on a child that's just going to die anyway? I'll quick run and get an abortion BEFORE a nervous system develops in the embryo and save some unknown child from a doomed birth!

DF`ing Committees Need a Chaperone.
by Englishman ini remember, when i was but a lad, how a young sister of 15 was publicly reproved to the whole congregation for being sexually experienced.. a couple of years later, the same thing occurred with another young lady, who was forced to sob in front of everyone.. even then, with all my j-dub imprinting, i recall feeling outraged at the congregations treatment of these girls.
i felt that the way that they had been dealt with was far more intrusive and abusive than anything that they may have experienced in their first sexual forays.. i recall feeling very deeply that it was very wrong for a female to have to submit herself to the interrogations of 3 middle aged men, whilst she had to be alone in her guilt and misery as she endured their probing.. in later years, my ex-wife had to go through this experience.
ok, she was no shrinking violet, but again i felt most indignant on her behalf.. surely, this is not right?

Don't get me started. As you may know, I was df'd (for a grand total of 4 months--they knew I was repentant but needed to make an example of me)....
Anyhow, I was asked all kinds of great questions like, What color is he? (I was pregnant)
Questions that had nothing to do with the matter at hand, and only served the curiosity of three middle-aged men.
