Having the cards forwarded to a new hall & fading there sounds like the best of a bad situation. Eventually family is going to ask all the usual questions. Be prepared. Mention nagging doubts. Never take a direct approach with family that are entrenched in the organization. Over time, you'll be accepted as "inactive". In the interim, enjoy life.

Hotel California
by evilone inmy wife and i are planing a move & fade.
currently we still go to meetings and do field service (some fake) so as not to raise suspicions.
psychologically, i have been out for a while, but it has taken her a lot longer, in part because she has more family ties in the borg.

A Rebel with a cause says hello new friends
by the_raisin ini just want to start by expressing gratitude toward all members of this forum.
i have been reading for the last month or so experiences and information that had not been available to me years ago when i was going through chronic depression and isolation.
i wish i could be more 'brave' and show some current little jws the way to this forum, but i am afraid of getting them in trouble :p we all know how sites like this are to them.. with that covered, first, a few things about me:.

As I child, my mother studied the Paradise Lost Paradise Regained book. In those days, there was no other publication for children. At the end of the book it covered Armageddon prophesies complete with black & white images of piles of bones, corpses & total destruction. We studied it twice. It was a lot of fun.

Its official, call me Mr Apostate from now on
by Joey Jo-Jo ini overheard a conversation from my family, jw's are shunning me, but the best part is i am not a jw, never been bathtised, just a born in who woke up in his early thirties.
the reasoning behind it was something i did, it wasn't fornication because im still a virgen, it wasn't stealing, killing or praying to false gods, drinking or anything that the bible defines as sin, im not even the going out type, i dont have many friends, never been reprove or did anything to set a bad example (i was your typical jw) no no no, it was a book, it was sending an email to a family member who happens to be jw with the shephearding the flock ppf.. this book was a huge shock to the person, eventually it raised questions and spread around, eventually this went full circle back at me, my parents already concerned for some time has asked brothers to see if they can fix my reasoning so i can be brainwashed again and give them money to some rich guys in brooklyn who dont have any ethical responsibilities towards others.
i wanted my parents to do this, i want them to see what the brothers will do and say about me, thinking and hopping, that some day they will wake up from their long sleep.

Congratulations, you're in great company. Russell got his 1914 "revelation" in large part from Barbour who today would have been labeled an "apostate" in a heartbeat. So all Witnesses can thank apostate thinking for their grand "Last Generation" prophesy. As apostates we need to do more thinking for the GB. From recent "new light" clarifications, they sorely need our help. I'm thinking that the dragon in the Revelation account was Godzilla. Japan is the anti-christ & the internet is the devil. It's all starting to come together .............. Quick!!!! No more typing.....they're coming........Arrghhh........ not my HP.

How much do you believe in God's blessings?
by stillstuckcruz inthe more i talk to the brothers and sisters, the more i question what so-called "blessings" god gives to us.
yesterday i had the #3 talk at the hall.
and because my family has that "perfect family example" status in the hall, i got all the comments about how wonderful i did and how fantastic it was for being a young man(20)....yada yada yada.

The WBTS would have you believe that since 1914, the Gentile Times ended, JC picked them as the chosen ones & THE END IS NEAR. A critical look at the evidence supports the fact that NOTHING ENDED IN 1914. Which, if you are a serious Bible student, means we are still in the so called "Gentile Times". It was during this period that God was allowing the nations to go it alone. That, in turn, means no holy spirit, no blessings, no answering of prayers, NOTHING. All this changes when God once again fulfills all those Revelation prophesies that the WBTS so cleverly applied to themselves. So hang in there. We are not forgotten. It's not time yet. Enjoy life.

Has anyone left still believing it was the truth?
by FollowedMyHeart init seems that most xjws have left because at one point in their jw life something happened that made them start to think something wasn't right with the religion.
when i left, i still believed the jws had "the truth".
i was dying inside, trapped and unhappy (another poster's words, but describes exactly how i felt).

No one gets a copyright on truth. The WBTS slick ad campaign entitled "The Truth" has polarized individuals either for or against them. The actuality is that some things taught by them are believed by many (including myself) to be true. The trick is to decide what is true & what is crap. I think starting with principles clearly defined in the Bible is a good starting point. I have personally found that to be very satisfying. Gives one a base to build on. Where the GB went wildly astray was their own version of running ahead. On things not clearly defined, they would have been better off to let the rank & file decide for themselves.

I actually dreamed last night I was giving a talk . The hall was small & with white walls. Only 3 or 4 attending. The talk was about Jeh. not getting involved with mankind at this time. I had an illustration & everything. Can I count this time?

Hi, new to this forum. Figured I'd let everyone know about my story before I got involved.
by JonathanH inif you just want the juicy details where i leave, i'll make disclaimer where it begins, if you just want to know what happened with the elders and organization after i realized it wasn't true, i'll mark that seperately.
we didn't do jack shit in service, or in the congregation.
maybe this was how jehovah came about?

Welcome as well. Knowing that family & friends are wrong & realizing that we will not convince them otherwise is a burden. I do believe truth will eventually prevail. Hope to be around to see it. Wish you the best.

Epic drama is imminent
by fade_away insoap opera style drama unfolds at the smallest irrelevant actions a j-dub takes.
for example, just last year when i was still in, my soon-to-be wife fiance and i decided to start sitting together at the meetings.
we figured "we might as well, since we're about to marry".

Congratulations on getting out together. It's so much easier with your wife/husband with you. I left an ex-wife (don't really miss her), one daughter & a bunch of good friends. It does get better every day. Hang in there, you're in for one helluva ride.
