What makes our community strong is the diversity of beliefs. All of us here believe in things that others disagree with. An old friend once told me " we can disagree without being disagreeable." Or we can shun each other. Wait...I think I left an organization just like that......... -

Separated from a loveless Marriage

I married in 1975 during the "scare". I married more for self preservation than for love, but I figured "Paradise" was just a around the corner & I would learn to love my wife. That, unfortunately, never happened. We did have good times & bad. Raised two girls. As we got older, we just went through the motions. I found the love of my life after 34 yrs. with the first wife. I divorced, knowing I would be disfellowshipped. I just wanted to be happy. I assumed eventually I would be reinstated, but found TTATT while out & never went back. You have those options. Don't waste 34 yrs. of your life. I have never been happier. I've said it before & I'll keep on saying it "Live Well....Enjoy Life". -

...all the More so as You Behold That Day Drawing Near
by cofty inwhen i was a jw we had a 60 minute public talk - interval - 60 minute wt study.
60 minutes on a tuesday and 2 hours on a thursday.
apparently every single meeting was essential.. we also had to get to 2 circuit assemblies every year that consisted of friday evening, morning, afternoon and evening on a sat and morning and afternoon on a sunday.

Ahh the good old days. As kids we would run wild during the 15 minute intermission on Sundays. We would stare blankly at the huge status board we & every other hall had with a running tally of pubs, hrs. etc. etc. Conventions were absolute torture; going on for days. I was old enough to pass on the 1958 international convention at Yankee Stadium. My 6 yr. old brother went instead. Now I honk the horn as I drive by on Saturday & Sunday mornings. -

Personal reflections
by Freeof1914 inhello all and happy new year!.
i don't post here often,but as the new year just started and my birthday is tomorrow, i am feeling extra reflective.
it has been several years since i was willingly disfellowshipped, and i say willingly because when the judicial committee asked me my thoughts on the organization i told them i thought it was not a god directed organization.

Hi FO1914;
First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!. I know how you feel. After 50 yrs. in & 34 yrs. in an unhappy marriage, I divorced to marry the love of my life. Got DF'd of course & was planning to return. Happily the committee decided to make an example of me & dragged their feet on my reinstatement. After 3 yrs. I got fed up & started my research leading me out for good. I know many here are just starting the journey out & yes, it's painful. We all will have different experiences leaving. I hope all have at least some measure of contentment. As for me, it's now been 8 yrs. out. I enjoy Christmas, birthdays, riding a Harley, getting tattoos, my loving wife, my one daughter out & my grandkids, drinking to excess on special occasions. ( Recently mooned a 1,000 people) Live Well...Enjoy Life !!!!

Good Morning All (Good Evening to Those on the Wrong Side of the World);
Could someone explain the new arrangement with the "anointed"? Is anyone other than the GB in this class anymore? Is there any feedback from those who consider themselves in this class? Is there a WT article explaining this arrangement & how they're feeding this crap to the rank & file?

How do you overcome this JW excuse?
by EdenOne induring one of those meetings that took place before my jc, one of the elders, who was a good friend of mine back then and used to come up with a few outlandish personal views about some teachings, attempted to counter one of my arguments like this:.
eden - "well, if the truth doesn't change, why is it that what we teach as 'truth' has changed over the years (several examples given)?
how can we dogmatically claim at any given moment that we have 'the truth' if our teachings keep changing?".

That argument flies in the face of Jehovah's cardinal quality of love. Jah could in no way allow any variation that would result in harm or death to his sheep. So, as we know that neither Jah or Jesus (who stated love would be the identifying quality of the one true religion) could be responsible for these doctrinal disasters, the only conclusion is that the came from men not directed by them. As opinions & not principles, no one is obligated to obey or die for.

If Your JW Parent Died Would YOU Go To The Kingdom Hall For The Talk?

My mother was a wonderful person. She truly believed it was the "Truth" yet never shunned me nor any of her children DF'd or not. She even attended my wedding & loved my wife even though she knew we were never getting involved in that cult again. At her memorial, the speaker was one of the JC that DF'd me. I had a few true friends come up to me, but far & away the majority kept their distance. I make it a point to attend all the memorials of those I knew. I want them to see me alive & well. And, as for the JC members, I make it a special point to be there. Only 2 left. Oh and Frank I know where you will be buried. Expect me to piss on your grave....... Ha Ha Ha Ha !!!!!!!!

Welcome;
I think the answer you & many other Witnesses is looking for is not which religion is the " one true religion" but rather is it here at all. According to Witness doctrine, the one true religion would not appear until the "last generation". The evidence that 1914 wasn't the beginning or ending of anything is overwhelming. (See jwfacts.com & other sources.) That being said, according to Witness doctrine, all who die in this time period are coming back. Both Jesus & the Apostle Paul reiterate this. So, worship God in your own way. (There is no wrong way.) Or worship no God. It really doesn't matter. The only exceptions were those that pissed off God directly such as the Scribes & Pharisees. Hard for the average person to do. Hopefully, this takes a least one mental burden off your shoulders. Keep this in mind: Live Well....Enjoy Life.
