I always got that "well the GB is not perfect". OK, then who is responsible for this car wreck? And after the 75 debacle, as humans who made mistakes, it was so comforting to see them blame the GC for "running ahead". They've never taken any responsiblity. Such sickening hypocrisy & arrogance. I see why Jesus was so pissed at the scribes & pharisees.

All this brings to mind Pastor Russell's remark of "when the good Lord fails to provide funds, we will understand it to mean the end of our work" I see the Good Lord is enlisting the help of the IRS. Couldn't come soon enough.

I think I'm going to do that too. I'm going to say the end is near until it shows up. No matter that is might be decades or centuries away or regardless of the circumtances. Then I can say " Told you so". Think I'll have a beer while I'm waiting.

Has leaving made you stronger?
by gutted inthis is a follow up to a thread on how the religion screwed us up (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/207143/1/did-this-religion-screw-you-up-if-so-how).. i remember reading in combatting cult mind control that an individual that has experienced and left a cult is a much stronger person than your average joe shmoe.
i agree with this.
i'm sill in the process but i can see myself becoming mentally stronger.

I was in for 50 years. Still have a lot of animosity for lost opportunities & friends, but I'm getting better every day. Memories fade & new opportunities arise every day.

The only warning Jesus gave which involved action upon the faithful during the 1st century was the destruction of Jerusalem. The time between the warning & the actual event was 37 years which meant those that heard the warning would be alive to benefit from it. JW's century long warning is basically worthless. Those that heard it first lived out their lives with no consequences one way or the other. Same with the second, third and forth generations. Warning people continuously of impending doom is self defeating as obviously no one is listening. Jesus' warning was for a specific generation & during that generation all the rest of end time prophey would be fulfilled. Figure a generation as it actually should be (20 - 40 years) & it becomes evident that this one isn't it either.

Wanted to get reinstated... Almost ready to give up
by headisspinning ini'd like to hear from anyone who was disfellowshipped but fully intended to go back as soon as possible and how that worked out or didn't.
i'd like to hear how soon you went back to meetings, how many letters requesting reinstatement you wrote, how you were treated, and how long it took you to get bitter and jaded.... or in the off chance you had a positive experience, what exactly happened.. really struggling here... thanks!.

After 34 years, I left my wife, moved in with a woman who actually loved me & notified the elders. First meeting was the usual "Why?" and the "Some expect to commit adultery & be reinstated right away." I knew I would wait at least a year so I didn't bother them. I had moved to a new hall & attended Sundays. That was all I could bring myself to do. After a year I sent a letter, & didn't hear back for 3 months. I called & finally had a second meeting & was told it would not be long. So I waited another 3 months. Nothing. I called again & was told to now have a meeting first with the local congregation. By this time I had read Ray Franz' book as well as every site I could find. It finally sank in that these people are not guided by holy spirit, Jehovah or anything else but petty human emotions. I called them back & told them I had changed my mind & was not coming back. That was about a year ago. It's taken some time to readjust. I have a daughter still in but have not regretted my decision. I understand every circumstance is unique, but for me a clean break was what I needed. Every day gets better & better. I'll say it again: This organization does not now nor ever had Jehovah's holy spirit.

I find it interesting that the committees always love to throw around the verse that "Jehovah hates a divorcing". Evidently he must be OK with child molesters, hypocrites & prescription drug addicts. Having personally dealt as an elder with all of the above, I can speak with some authority. There are numerous cases where consistency went right out the window.

Know how you feel MLE. Same story for me. We, though are the lucky ones. Think of the thousands that have died from all the worthless mandates throughtout WT history. Take what you still have as a life & live it. Don't waste time looking back, I don't think they're sending checks out anytime soon. (I still wanna be the King of the Northeast. Stay out of NY lest I smite you with some yet to be decided plague. )
