XENUS EVIL CULT.
by refiners fire ini look at his posting and his style of trying to slowly sneak his cult's theaching on to this board as deadly.. i take his attempt to draw just "one" person who may just be lurking and may be in an extremely vulnerable stage in their life very seriously.
that is why i make this post.
terrific.very noble.. just one thing, dave.. show me one example of xenu trying to recruit someone on this board to his cult.. i asked you before, but my request got buried under 10 million pages of bullshit.. my position is that you are publicly lynching this guy.. and hes done nothing.

The JWs are the best people myth
by Leander ini'm sure most of you are all aware of the myth that the wts perpetrates.
they boldly make the claim that jehovah's witnesses are the most loving, compassionate and kind people on the face of the earth.
thats a really interesting statement considering some of the things that i have seen.

I guess living in a big city like Chicago you hear about a lot of strange situations.
On the north side of Chicago there was a huge scandal involving about 10-20 young people. Apparently someone thought it would be a good idea to have a gathering, only it would'nt be your typical JW gathering it would have one distinguishing feature. You probably guessed it already, that feature was sex. So this young group met at the home of a friends who's parents were out of town. There was a lot of drinking, a lot of joint smoking and of course a lot of sex. But what made this gathering really great was that a few of the brothers decided to video tape the orgy without informing the others. To make a long story short one of the brothers felt guilty later on and confessed to the elders. The elders convinced the young man to bring in the tape so they could (snicker) identify everyone who was involved. As you can imagine many of the people on that tape were disfellowshipped. But the story does'nt end there, rumour has it that one of the elders was so enamored by one of the young sisters on the tape that he made a special visit to lay hands on her. (yeh I know its a bad joke)
Another interesting story involves a subsitute circuit overseer and the daughter of a district overseer. Basically what happened was the sub CO was having sexual problems within his marriage, apparently his wife felt that his initmate requests were to much for her christian conscience. However another married sister felt that she could provide this sub. CO with what he needed. So for a year and a half the sub. CO and the daughter of the DO got together for a good old time. Finally things caught up with the sub. CO when his wife discovered his cable bill for porn channels at which point he confessed everything. I'm not sure what happened to the people involved other than the sub CO got disfellowshipped.
so what stories do you know about

I'm sure most of you are all aware of the myth that the WTS perpetrates. They boldly make the claim that Jehovah's Witnesses are the most loving, compassionate and kind people on the face of the Earth. Thats a really interesting statement considering some of the things that I have seen. For example:
Some years ago in the south suburbs of Chicago a JW woman had been taking advantage of her clients. (many of them were also witnesses) Her stealing finally caught up with her and she was exposed in the city's two biggest newspapers and the story was even ran on local news stations. Despite her obvious wrong doing she still felt no remorse, she was eventually disfellowshipped and then later on she attempted to sue the elders for slander. However I'm proud to say that once again she is a reinstated witness with rumours that she is currently involved in another scheme. Is it not obvious that JWs are the most compassionate and loving people on the Earth today?
Still not convinced? Here's another story. A young brother (who we'll called Brother R) in my congregation began dating a young sister (Sister H) who was rumoured to be leading a double life. After a few months of dating, Sister H revealed that she was pregnant. Her mother (older Sister H) was furious and at the next meeting she verbally berated Brother R with some very colorful language.
Brother R admitted that he had sex with young Sister H and also her younger sister but he denied that he had gotten anyone pregnant. This only enraged older Sister H even more and she renewed her verbal attacks against the young brother, this finally provoked Brother R's mom (Sister R) to confront older Sister H. The two sisters had a sharp burst of anger which led to a very interesting fight in the parking lot of the Kingdom Hall.
Finally a few months later young Sister H delivered the baby and it was confirmed that the child did not belong to Brother R. Shortly after that young Brother R and older Sister H were married.
As we can see this heated dispute finally ended in a peaceful manner, are not JWs the most kind and loving people in the world?

Ozzie, hopefully I'll be out before the district comes around.
Dmouse - For the last 2 or conventions I've been prepared with a laptop and my comic book collection. About a hour into the program I usually head back to the car and spend most of the day reading Fantastic Four stories and playing video games.

Help! I need some clarification on a few issues
by Leander intoday i was thinking about how the 1st century christians had several congregations in place as well as a governing body.
so i'm wondering is that a valid reason for there to be a current governing body today?.
also i've been contemplating the issue of preaching.

Today I was thinking about how the 1st century christians had several congregations in place as well as a governing body. So I'm wondering is that a valid reason for there to be a current governing body today?
Also I've been contemplating the issue of preaching. For years the WTS has used Matthews 28:19,20 as the basis for EVERY witness to engage in preaching. However in that scripture Jesus is giving that command only to a select few disciples. Did that same command apply to other first century christians?
If someone could give me some insight on those 2 things I would greatly appreciate it. I want to be well prepared in the event my family counters with those lines of reasoning.

Lyineyes, what you wrote is amazing. Its like you went inside of my head and snatched out my biggest problem with religion. Thats the same doubt that brought me to the point of where I am right now. If you don't mind listening to a short story I can tell you exactly what made me feel like that.
A few years ago there was a family in a nearby congregation, I was good friends with 2 of their sons. We used to get together and play basketball, skate, etc. (late-night drinking included) This particular family had a history of heart disease that was passed down to all of the children. To make a long story short in a relatively short period of time 3 of the 8 children died from heart failure. One of the girls died on a bus on the way to the school and one of the sons (who was much older than me) died while playing basketball. They had yet another son who died from heart complications but I did'nt know him or the circumstances when he passed. After about a year or 2 of those initial deaths the mother and some of her younger children were all at a skating party that one of the friends had setup. During the course of this gathering her youngest son collapsed while skating, the paramedics were called and they tried to revive the boy but sadly they could'nt save him. The look on this mother's face literally tore my heart to pieces, for a long time I could'nt stop thinking about the pain that this poor woman must have been feeling. It was at that point that my doubts began to surface about why would a loving God allow his children and in particular his children who were doing their best to serve him suffer so much pain. The rest as they say is history. After carrying these doubts around with me for years I finally started investigating religion and the JWs history and thats what brought me around.
So I can definitely identify with you 100% on that feeling LE.

Is anyone on the forum from Illinois?
by Leander inthis site has been a source of tremendous encouragement for me.
i've been able to truly learn quite a bit since i've started coming here.
i've also found the courage that i need which will help me walk away from the jw organization in the very near future.

Thanks I appreciate the support. I attempted to break free back in October of last year but I gave into the pressure and stayed in the congregation. What I found to be truly incredible during that experience was the attitude of the elders. I spoke with the presiding overseer in my congregation, my father-in-law (who is also a presiding overseer) and 3 other elders about my doubts and my desire to step down. Despite the fact that these men knew I had grave concerns and serious doubts they all encouraged me to keep giving talks and preaching to others despite not believing whole heartedly in all of the society's doctrines. In my opinion if a member of an organization no longer believes in that org's ideals and teachings it would be foolish to encourage that person to teach others about something he does'nt beleive in.
I'm in the process right now of taking steps to be prepared for the worst. My in-laws all encouraged my wife not to talk to me about anything that goes in contrary with the WTS. In fact I learned that they even suggested to her that if I continue believing or talking about things not in line with the societys thinking that she should leave me. I'm not sure exactly how my mother will take it, but she's the type that follows the WTS guidelines down to the letter so I can imagine she'll be very disappointed. Out of all the people in my life who will be affected its my mother I'm most concerned about. We were very close when I was at home and I really hate doing anything to hurt her. Fortunately my younger brother might be a little more understanding but I can't say for sure at this point.
well enough of my rambling for now

I think cloning is a fascinating field of science. I often wonder will cloning eventually lead to prolonging the lives of individuals.
