I kinda agree with Naeblis. I've known quite a few sisters who wanted to get married to be happy and live out their dreams. But the reality is that if you're not happy as a single person then chances are you won't be a happy married person either. The same thing basically applies to the WTS in a sense. Of course one of the major differences is that once you're free from the WTS oppression there are'nt as many barriers, but again that does'nt automatically translate into happiness.

Is life really better out of the org?
by sleepy init strikes me that as witnesses most can find many faults with the world and reasons why they want to be no part of it.. things are often exagerated or demonised in the witneses eyes.. does the same thing happen in reverse when you leave the org?.
do we blow things up out of proportion to how they really are?.
are we really that much happier as people than we were in the org?.

How many found the REAL truth from the internet?
by Leander inif it was'nt for the internet i would still be stuck in the endless cycle of drone like meeting attendance and field service.
(technically i'm still in but not for long) i'm really glad that some ex-jws took the time to speak about the real truth.
for the longest time i always thought that what i was taught was correct, i never even felt the need to question it or validate it with actual facts.

Syn - To be honest I was very shook up, I actually felt sick to the point of being nauseous (sp?) for the first few days. Then I started subtly talking to some people about a few of the things that I read, this led me to start feeling confused because the individuals I talked with were very convincing in their arguments for the WTS. But eventually as I kept doing research I began to feel less and less intimidated.
In my opinion the facts speak for themselves, if a group, religion or even a person claims one thing but their track records says something else then the logical thing would be to be judge on the actions and not the words.

Logging on to Yahoo and typing in Jehovah was the best decision I made within the last few years. I've learned about the countless prophecies that WTS has made but failed to come true, I've learned about how the society blames its members for simply being excited about what they were taught to beleive. My eyes have been opened to their practice of making up rules that go above and beyond bible practices. Even worse I've read hundreds of personal experiences of where lives were shattered due to child abuse, shunning and outright lies and slander. And the list goes on and on.
I thank everyone who has contributed to helping others realize what the WTS real fruitage is.

Transportable Job Ideas
by joelbear inwhat kinds of jobs could i do where i could move around and live in different areas for like 1 or 2 years at a time that would pay a living wage.. for instance, every place needs nurses, although that is not a job i would want.
what are some other jobs that exist everywhere and for which there is a demand.
i could be a bank teller anywhere but probably couldn't live on the salary.. any ideas out there.

There are quite a few out there. In my experience installation jobs can be found in any city and the pay is usually fairly competitive.
Cable installation (these positions have been around for a while and with digital cable expanding there is a demand for this kind of work)
Dsl/Cable internet installation (home broadband is exploding right now, this job requires a little technical training but many companies will train their employees. It also pays better than just your typical cable installer)
Phone/voice services installation (if you can manage to get one of these jobs you can earn anywhere between 40-100k+. Every city is guaranteed to have a need for these type of services)
Fiber optic/broadband access installation (this is the job I wanted to take a few years ago, it takes a little bit of training but the pay is excellent. guys in this field have been known to make well over $100 an hour, many of the jobs require travelling so you're constantly on the move. its a great job for someone who wants to move around)
PC/Network analyst (every so often if you get with a recruiting agency they have jobs where they need someone to travel extensively, the pay is usually very good because of the traveling required and its a good opportunity to gain experience as an IT professional)
Hospital tehnicians (hospitals usually have a variety of positions avaialable at any given time and with a little training you can qualify for a fairly decent paying position)
hope this helps

Tonites bookstudy
by Leander init took everything i had to stay seated thru the bookstudy tonite, i felt like getting up and leaving.
the fact that i'm the designated reader did'nt make matters any better either.
i'm not sure how many people on the forum have the isaiah's prophecy book but if you do have a copy check out chapter 21.. chapter 21 in paragraphs 3 talks about how enemies of the israelites (pharoah, nebuchadnezzar)were compelled to acknowledge that jehovah was with his people.

The more I think about this book study lesson its becoming crystal clear that these guys in Brooklyn are fake as a Michael Jackson facial feature.
In the bible when Pharoah and Nebuchadnezzar glorified God it was a thing that EVERYONE knew about. Egypt and Babylon were world powers, so for them to praise the God of a small agricultural nation that would have been big news. There is no comparison what so ever in that 1919 event to the ones in the bible.
This has motivated me to really want to get out of this religion

Ok something smells fishy here, in that paragraph where it talks about Revelations 11:13 there is a footnote referencing the Revelations book page 170. I just looked up that information and there is no mention what so ever of a literal earthquake. I'm quite sure that had such an event took place that the WTS would have definitely highlighted that kind of thing.
In fact all the Revelations book said was that christedom acknowledged that God was with the JWS in their own minds. Thats pretty lame when you think about it, how is anyone going to be able to verify something like that?
6of9 what the hell are you trying to pull here?

Are you serious?
If thats really the case then that would mean they fufilled a prophecy down to the last detail. Where can I verify this?

Part 2
As if the first part of the bookstudy was'nt enough it got worse. In paragraph 6-7 they first quoted Isaiah 25:6 which said "Jehovah of armies will certainly make for all the peoples, in this mountain, a banquet of well-oiled dishes, a banquet of wine kept on the dregs, of well-oiled dishes filled with marrow, of wine kept on the dregs, filtered"
Then paragraph 7 says this "The banquet is spread in Jehovahs mountain. What is this mountain? It is the mountain of the house of Jehovah to which all the nations stream in the final part of the days. It is Jehovahs holy mountain where his faithful worshipers do no harm and cause no ruin." Theres more to the paragraph but I'll end it there.
Here the WTS is trying to claim that there are so many people coming into the org during the time of the end and that there is no harm or ruin being done. I don't have any figures or numbers but I'm sure they would probably say otherwise.
But getting back to the scripture (Isaiah 25:6) the WTS claims that they are spreading out this well-oiled banquet. On the next page there is an illustration of a variety of dishes and surrounding the food are various WTS publications. So its not hard to see what conclusion they are trying to get the reader to come to.
feel free to comment on what you thought about this
