  i am so angry and since i am some of this may not make sense.

  i have a sister in law who has recently taken up the pentecostal religion.

  before this she was devil/goth child.

  Sorry you have to experience this at family gatherings. Geee sure puts a damper on just having a good time.

  What I did with my neices and nephews was....I made sure that mom and dad were no where in sight, and gave them each my business card. Told them to put it away in their pockets, put it someplace no one knows, and if they every need anything...call me I will be there. Seems to have worked. They call me when they are in a jam since my JW family only wants them to feel bad about being a kid. So far nothing harmful, I did tell them if they did anything against the law, or was harmful to themselves or others I would have to tell their parents.

  Hate you have to do that with family that shun you.

  he was raised from the time he was about 7 until his mom kicked him out at 15 (wasn't she loving?

  I am so sorry that was just put upon you with you having no say in it. He certainly had to be thinking of returning to the "lie" long before he told you on your honeymoon.

  First protect your two daughters from this cult. JW women are treated like second class citizens....they have no rights. Also, they do not encourage education either for your girls. Make sure upfront with him that you will NOT raise your daughters like that. That is what I did to my ex-JW husband. Guess you can figure once I put my foot down he left.

  Well, well, well, things are certainly changing...

  you know here lately, my life has had lots of ups and downs.

  this was my first year of not going to district convention, my (step) grandpa developed brain cancer, my dad and most of his family won't speak to me, and my girlfriend and i were having troubles.

  on the other hand, my mom and her side of the family have embraced me, my cousin (that left the borg) and i are closer than ever, my girlfriend is super, my band plays all the time, and i've got a great group of friends.

  Just remember to go slow with your family. If you start hitting them with all kind of information at once, it just makes them defensive and they shut down. Alittle at a time seems to be the best.

  Remember right now the rank and file is being told to watch out for apostates. So if they even have a hint they think you are an apostate they will not listen to anything, and will feel justified in shunning you and your cousin. Good luck let us know how it is working out for you.

  i've been thinking a lot lately about how much i've changed over the last year.

  i've only been out of the borg for a year but i've changed so much.

  my father called me the other day and told me that he found out that my husband has been going on these xjw boards and wanted to know how i felt about it.

  wow you are only 19 years old? You should be very proud of yourself...most of us here did not see the JW religion as a cult until we had put many, many years into it. Good for you...go live your life the way you want to, not a life defined by what you are told to do.

  Near Disaster

  ..i`m driving down the highway..and..theres a group of bikers having a group pee on the side of the road..they all seemed quite pleased with themselves..a vehicle coming in the opposite direction.drove into my lane while watching them and drove me off the road.....dam yur-a-pee`n bikers!

  New Here, My Personal Story

  i have thought off and on about the jws for years.

  my little sister brenda converted about 30 years ago and raised two sons in the truth as she called it.

  one boy, mason, is still being raised as a jw (he is 15) and my other nephew, aaron, left the organization on his 18th birthday.

  Welcome Johanna...I love your name it was also my grandmothers..she liked to be called Jo. You found out that the JW religion loves with conditions attached to it. They love you as long as you do what you are told, and you fit in the mold. If you are different, you are treated differently. Hope you decide to stay.

  I have to say that as a teenager I also did somethings that I am not overly proud of, but Mincan's posts were different then just stupid teen stuff. His post is full of pain and anger. He talks of drinking to black out, suicide, only one person he cares about and he hurts that person. I do not judge him, I am concerned for him...period.

  When anyone speaks of suicide you had better be paying attention. His age group has the largest suicide rate in the US. I always worry about those at such young ages see the cult for what it is. They do not even have the emotional maturity to deal with life, let alone possibly loosing everyone that you cared about. For myself when I walked away I felt like I was in purgatory. So if you thought anything was said in judgment of him, for myself it was said in deep concern for him.
