We are from Bradenton, just south of the bay. We moved to Colorado 4 1/2 years ago but have remained loyal to the Bucs. We wear our Jerseys, Shirts and hats all over town. Some of the Bronco's fans don't think its too cute, but hey.... hahahaha

We saw the offense really shape up and get it together. We knew we had a good chance today.

I have a copy of this letter in my possesion. I received it from someone involved in the civil trial against Dan in which the Churchfields sued the WTS. The WTS had to turn this document over to the courts as a matter of discovery. As far as "prominent" people in Yerington, it is a very small town of around 4000 people. Dan Fitzwater was himself well known as he was a pioneer as well as elder and congergation overseer. There were people in town that actually approached the elders in the congergations about him. To them Dan represented the witnesses in Yerington and surrounding areas. They wanted to see something done. The reason the WTS cared was that this was their territory and was hurting their field ministry. This also cut the congergation in size by almost half.

The girl that was placed in foster care was Dan's step-daughter, Dawn. She came forward and the elders were notified when she was 15. This was in the early 80's. Social services were also notified, but not by the elders. Dan was brought up on investagation, but he fled to Florida. That is where I met him. I was 12. He was made a pioneer right away and very soon thereafter was made a MS. He was one of the few MS's in our hall giving public talks. (we had a lot of elders) Dawn stayed in Nevada in foster care until she reached adulthood. My husband, Dan's son, had moved out of the house very shortly before Dawn came forward. He lived with his mom in Texas and was unaware of the circumstances of Dawn being removed from the home. He was told she had become rebellious and uncontrollable so they turned her over to the state. Most people in FL did not even know she existed. Dan stayed in Fl for a couple years. When my husband turned 18 he moved to FL and that is where I met him. Dan then moved to GA and became an elder as soon as he got there and was approved by the WTS. He waited 7 years from the time he left NV and then moved back. 7 years was the period of time for the statute of limitations. He became an elder there and then the congergation overseer.

Dawn came forward to the congergation at that time and they did not believe her. Dan said she made it up to hurt him. She never became a baptized witness. Meantime he got a hold of the Churchfields daugter and abused her.She was 8. She kept it quiet for 2 years before attempting suicide. In the meantime 2 other girls in the congergation came forward.

The rest is history. You see the letter. That is the attitude of the WTS. They are just concerned that the victims won't let it go. They NEVER tried to help the victims. They never suggested getting help for them. The victims were threatened to stay quiet for fear of disfellowshipment for gossip & slander.

Dan is in prison now and the latest info I have is that he is up for parole in Oct and set for release in June of next year. I had been given some false info before on the times but have confirmed these dates. He is still a member in good standing.

Molestation vs Rape.......Question.....

i would like to know what the legal description of rape is.

i was under the impression that rape was when someone is actually penetrated by a person or object.

i am confused because i have noticed that certain people are using the term rape in every incident of abuse.

I am confused because I have noticed that certain people are using the term rape in every incident of abuse. From what I personally know Dan Fitzwater was convicted of Lewdness on a child under 14. (Which to me is every bit as bad as rape) From all the testimony and the things I have heard he did not actually rape his victims. I am not saying he did not rape any. I have not spoken to all of them and not gone into a lot of detail with the ones I do know. I have read a lot of testimony and never saw anywhere where he was accused of rape. And yet that is what Bill is calling it. (Not starting a Bill war here PLEASE. Just trying to get a some input on a definition.)

What is the difference between rape and molestation? Is there one, at least in legal terms?

we had an elder visit my husband this weekend and he said that the wts has given the elders new direction on the handling of child molestation but that he could not tell us what it said because it was confidential.

i'm sure someone has posted this and it is probably more bs.

i told my husband they tell the elders it is cofidential because it gives the elders a sense of power knowing they have info that the rank & file don't have.

Oh, and the response my husband got from the WTS after his 3rd letter to them asking why his dad is not DFed was something to the effect of Let it go, forget about the past, and let the local elders study with you. PUKE! They did not answer anything! But it was interesting to find that the letterhead had changed from WTS letterhead out of NY to Christian Congergation of Jehovah's Witnesses out of Pennsylvania. Gladly, my husband refused the study.
