My son is taking the bar in California this year and this is one of the first things I'm going to have him read......he's studying for it right now and doesn't have the time, and may not afterwards. But I intend to pepper him with questions.
Such as, how would the wts be held accountable rather than only individual elders, or only the individual perpetrator? The wts will cut them loose to save itself, you can be sure of that. Rather than the org heading for bankruptcy, wouldn't it be the elders themselves, their own personal assets? So will it have to be proven that they were acting as agents for the wts and carrying out its policy and how is that done?

this video highlighting the gilead missionaries, their schooling and daily life at their assignment, is imo, the most beautiful video the society has ever made.
it is also their most dangerous!

i thought it might be relevant now as jw's are defending their position on child abuse as being ok. it all boils down to the five questions.
if the typical jw can answer the five questions truthfully then they are forced to admit there is a problem.
I was thinking these questions would be excellent for the householder to use.....arm the public with questions the typical jw can take back to the elders or mull over himself and investigate.
We always discussed what happened at the door when we got back into the car. Think of getting into the car with one of those questions. Or taking an elder aside and telling him what a householder or bible student asked you. Is the elder going to tell you to tell a bible student not to watch news shows?

Even if they answer untruthfully, it gives them something to think about later, so ask away anyway.
For instance, the 1st one, they may not know if they would be informed or not, but they should begin
to think that, Yes, they do need to be informed. And if they know they won't be, then they need to ask
why not.

the heavy-handed tactics of the leaders of the watchtower society have begun to bear rotten fruit.
i suspect that it is just a matter of time before the need arises to coin some phrase to describe disfellowshipped or disassociated jehovah's witnesses who bomb conventions, shoot up kingdom halls or even attack bethel facilities.. leaders of the wts (and local elders) should stop and think about the lessons to be learned from columbine high school, the postal service (i.e.
Lee Elder's call to action was for the 'responsible brothers' within the wts who can do something to stem the tide of victims. Is it realistic to think they CAN do something, do enough, are even willing to do enough??

Reading through this thread, I am encouraged that someone thinks 'responsible brothers' can and/or will do anything. I hope they have and can use some discretion in the matters Lee Elder mentioned; however, with everything being directed from NY, that hope isn't very strong. They tend to do what NY tells them to do.
I have a thought that the wts would welcome violence...as long as it's not at NY. Something from the book '30 years a wt slave'...the author indicated that the wts WANTED them to stir things up, wanted there to be incidences of violence against jw's, wanted arrests and such....all to gain attention to their 'cause' so they could cry "persecution".
So...DON'T DO IT....don't play into their hands!!!

Great news indeed.
I just wish the article had told about the 2 witnesses rule of the wts which keeps the abuse from being reported.
Despite the wts' adamant denials, their system is set up to protect the offender. They could have forestalled exposure by simply changing their procedures in dealing with accusations of molestation. Were they afraid they'd be admitting guilt? The Org that hypes it changes when in error? and is not afraid to admit it's mistakes and make changes?
(I must share this with my daughter who has tried to fit in and never could: "The reward for conformity was that everyone liked you except yourself.")

i'd be interested in hearing some of the exjw's door-to-door experiences.
i've probably had the saturday morning door knocking...maybe 6-8 times.
i've never been "rude" except for once...when i had a particularly aggressive pair who wouldn't take "no thank you" for an answer.
I loved field service and felt strongly that's what Christians should be doing. I stopped when I could no longer agree with everything the wts teaches.
Rude, yes, many were downright rude...one fellow cussed us up one side and down the other....his neighbors in the block could hear him swearing at us. A few were agressive in their denunciation of the wts. But the majority were nice and not interested; a few seemed glad to see us and I did have a 'magazine route' of those who took the literature each time.
I don't go door to door now because I've come to realize that true Christians live their lives as such and that's the best witness to others.
