Post Some Flowers Here, Please?
by Frannie Banannie inmany of yall have seen the "someone special needs cheering up" thread >> http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/79297/1.ashx.
there've been some really thoughtful responses, such kind and considerate wishes for kristy.
even so, i realize how difficult it may be at times to find the words to convey well wishes for someone who's suffering and striving so hard to overcome extreme circumstances.. .

Misconceptions of the GB
by Larry inwhat was your misconceptions about the gb?
here was one of mine, when folks would ask me why wasn't their any blacks on the gb.
i would say that the blacks weren't educated enough at the time (late 1800's - early 1900's) to govern a worldwide organization.

A misconception:
The GB writes the articles and books put out. They read them all and pray over them before they are put out too.
Since most of the JW file believes this they take whatever is in those pubs as gospel.
Having given themselves the title Ambassadors of Christ, they don't mention the one whom they're representing much. As a matter of fact, they have all but bumped him out of the equation...that darn Memorial is what's keeeping him from JW annihilation.
Satan must be proud.
JW's oogle over the GB the same as Catholics oogle over the Pope. JW structure mirrors that of the CC with semantics in titles being all the rage. Laymen, Priests, Bishops, Cardinals, Pope. --- Publishers, Ministerial Servants, Elders, DOs, COs, and GB. -

Which was scarier... the torture scenario or the Armageddon scenario?
by Gopher infor those of us who grew up in the jw's, there were a couple of scary scenarios presented, one supposedly to happen before armageddon, and armageddon itself.. before armageddon, all jw's were going to be chased around by worldly nations because they would be the only religion left on earth, satan's system having destroyed "babylon the great" (all religions outside jw's, we were told).
so as part of that, jw's would be persecuted worldwide for being religious and proclaiming the "kingdom".. now -- connect that with the actual persecution that happened to the jw's as documented in the annual "yearbook" and in the pages of the watchtower magazine.
sometimes the details of what happened to jw's when in confinement were quite graphic and frightening.

Armageddon was, I guess, the scarier of the two. At least imprisonement, torture, and death meant I didn't have to go to the boring meetings. :)

Ok, Question: Was there a comment made at a meeting that finally convinced.
by New Castles inwas there a comment made at a meeting that finally convinced you, this is not right?
for me a couple of weeks ago was in the service meeting, they stated that if the children didnt finish their homework because they were studying the bible or at a meeting that teachers should understand that their meetings and study are more important.
i looked at my wife and went "what"??

The Watchtower Study article that fully contradicted the previous week's Watchtower study article. I admit I had not been a goodie goodie and pre-read the article or I might have caught it in time to stay in bed. I understood that any ole "brother" writes those articles but--it had me sitting there looking around thinking, "OMG! What on earth am I doing here?" I had suspicions due to the overall JW environment. The taking a verse out of context used to always piss me off as I was one of those folks who would always read the whole bible chapter to see in what context the verse referred. Anyway, that article was the defining point when I knew I had to "roll up outta there".

With This One Thought, You Become An XJW
by metatron inthere is one thought, which if spoken , even privately to yourself, instantly.
transforms you into an ex-witness.. it is:.
"what the hell was i thinking?".
-

what-now?, I used to have the strangest thoughts whenever a "friend" talked in happiness about the destruction of mankind. I thought, "It would be good if Jah did not destroy your neighbors. It would be even better if you personally complained about their non-destruction and a shark popped up to immediately bite your head off...like Jonah but with more cenematic drama." Anyway, my one thought was, "WTF???? How did I get in here?"

Seems to be going OK ... posting limits UP
by Simon in.
i set the limits low while i put the new s.w.

No worries, Simon. My iBook also came with IE for Mac. I could view this wonderful site but not post. (I was using Safari as my default browser; which is actually still in "Beta" mode. I'm sure Apple will fix this by final release. I've seen a couple of issues with Safari and Java stuff.) This is a nice new look.

Narrow and cramped is the road leading ...
by whyhideit in"narrow and cramped is the road leading to life", right?
well with that quote, the witnesses have always justified the fact that they are still god's chosen people, even though they are not that large compared to other worldwide religions.
yet i was wondering something, if smaller is a sign of god's people, then how small is small enough.

The WTS is not on the road, last I heard they were in a boat that was 'tacking' in different directions on the open sea.
Did they come to a port yet? i may have missed that. :)
