I'd give my family some money then move out of the country (to someplace warm and cozy) and change my name.

by insearchoftruth inmy wife has been an on again, off again sympathizer of the jws.
she recieved a phone call this past weekend from a sister who had attempted to study with her in the past and all of a sudden she is reading all the wts literature she can on the meaning of armageddon and the topic of paradise earth.

Ew, still
There's no need for an "org" now so what in the world would there be a need for one in the 'new system'? Yuk! Who in the world would be needing human mediators and go-betweens getting in the way in the "New System"? Why do they think they know better than God? The vanity! They can't even get what God says right in this "System".

As for the wife, tell her to pay attention to what is being said at the CA and the specific use of scriptures out of context. She will be encountering people who absolutely believe some men can never be wrong even when what they say goes contrary to God. Its a high control group, no different from Catholicism in its belief of a few being infallible. That's always the problem when you have a group of individuals who say they alone have a special channel to God.

The three greatest teachings of JesusÂ…
by darth frosty inthe three greatest teachings of jesus.
are all cancelled out by the practices and teaching of the fds.
jesus gave three outstanding examples of what it is to be a follower of his and the actions and mindset that you should have, all three of these teachings or example's are diminished by the practices of jw's.

I have concluded from this topic that my lost brothers and sisters are followers of Paul. Think about it, they talk up Paul so much you'd think he was the Messiah.
The only thing mentioned about Jesus is the Memorial and sheeps and goats. That's it.
Nothing about the fishes and bread for the hungry crowd listening to the Sermon, nothing about helping strangers in a real and physical way, nothing about the prodigal son's silliness and the happiness (despite the silliness) of his pop on his return.
Nada. -

"Great post! I've thought of these things but couldn't have said it so clearly. When I was a JW the thing I found the most comfort in was the Greatest Man book. The teachings and illustrations of Jesus are so simple and reflective of God's love. I came to see that God was not harsh, demanding and unreasonable in his requirements; however, the organization certainly was unreasonable and demanding. Studying about Jesus's teachings gave me hope, and caused me to doubt and eventually discard the attitude of JWs. "
Wow!! Weird, for some odd reason I loved that book. :) It was the first one (for adults) that actually talked about Jesus and was well-written. I was shocked!! I also got one of the strangest yet peaceful feelings in my life after reading it. -

I think its shameful to bait people with "the paradise earth". The supposed reason for everything is the vindication of God's name. Why put the "New System" out there in a manner of more prestige than vindicating the Name?
It makes it seem like the reason for going along with the JWs is solely for personal gains. Gotta get into the "New System" at all cost.
Kinda like wanting to go to heaven just to be in charge.
You get this nice "fruit", live forever, know good and bad type deal. Join me. Sheesh! Not having IE is a mess on this forum. -

Its like telling a 10 yr old, you'll be 50 sooner than you think.
No matter, we are talking about people who have a belief system built on numerology and astrology moreso than the actual Bible. -

Is the Watchtower finally changing for the better?
by Dead Man Joaquin ini'm having a hard time figuring things out here.
the last few years it's become increasingly cultish - i.e.
the public & kool-aid editions, the infamous november(?

There's too much real discussion at book studies and not enough talking "at". Out of all the boredom , the book study is the most relaxed open atmosphere. Probably why the real Christians met in private homes.
The KH, like most church buildings is a cold atmosphere with little to no discussion taking place .... just lectures.
I think they should have called the book study "school" and the KMS "public speaking assistance". -

They probably heard about all the skipping of reading, question asking only, and spurring of real discussion. That real discussion stuff makes people go home to check ... the next thing you know....he he he.
