There's already a President [Adams?]of something (and one can buy stock) while the GB has nothing to do with that side of the Org.

A thought about corporate reoganization
by JeffT init seems there have been a number of changes in the wtbs corporations over the last few years, as well as changes in meetings etc.
maybe somebody has already thought of this and i missed it.
this thought was sparked by the thread about them going after another website quoting their material.. i think the watchtower is about to divide its religious and secular functions completely.

Question for Faders.....
by lepermessiah indid you all start getting the "full court press" from "friends" to start doing more things socially as you began your fade?.
i havent been invited to do a whole lot the last few months, but now all of a sudden i am getting phone calls and invites to do things.
fortunately, it hasnt been - "hey lets go out in field service" or anything like that since i would tell them to take a hike (which at this point means make myself busy at work or otherwise) .

I didn't have any JW "friends," I only had associates; the association, of course, being conditional.
So, I was glad when I dropped of the earth and had not alienated the other humans around (the people who would tell me I was dead wrong but would help bury the body anyway).

New here
by Heartbreaker ini have no idea what i want to convey in words here on this site, and have surprised myself by even joining at all.
i intended just to read, and get a few pieces of information, and now am a member, and spend many hours looking through posts old and new alike.
i am a current jw, born into it, and lets just say i'm in my thirties, female, and a mom of more than your average kids.

Welcome Heart!
I'm certain you will find others here, with similar circumstances, who can help you think over your situation.
Remember: We regret decisions which others make for us, so whatever happens, you decide on what course to take.
Agape.
PS. Try not to get caught by any LEOs with that happy shrubbery, please.

[endif] i'm curious about how people who have shifted religious beliefs feel about their own morals.
has the religion you've chosen made you a better person?

Sure. I'm free to be me. I decide what I will and will not tolerate, me.
Parents instill morals and charachter ... and then we all move on in life to stand on our own.

What is the JW story on baptisim?
by Out at Last! inthey claim that all of their beliefs and actions are based on the scriptures, so how can they justify 9,10 year olds, or even early teens getting baptized?
jesus was 29, john the baptist was the same age or a year older.
all of the others i recall from the ot & nt were adults.

They stopped believing in Jesus and baptism in the spirit. So now, people get baptised into the org and God (Jah) has even disappeared from the picture. "God's spirit annointed org"??? What the hell is that for a baptism?
The baptism ceremony is disgusting in terms of Christianity.
[If you want a real Biblical Christian baptism, go see the Baptists.] Get yourself dipped the real way.

Wierd District Convention experience Pioneer/Elder claim disapointment he's still not a C.O???
by Witness 007 inmelbourne australia district convention last saturday this jackass pioneer/elder gets on stage and relates how he and his wife have served where the need is great in many congs hoping for the "privledge" of being a c.o couple....he expressed "disapointment and discouragement" when he was not appointed....he moved to a new assignment in the chinese cong.. the speaker thanks him for his "honesty" but i was thinking what are his motives for serving his brothers?
is this a good example for pioneering?
must be a reason his ambition...... sorry i mean, goals could not be reached.
-
Lieu
I see it as a man who is pioneering specifically for the purpose of gaining a 'higher' position. He's not doing it for "others" or out of concern for those in the 'world'.
Its bad heart syndrome in my book. A what can I get out of this for myself type of thing not a what can I give thing.

Philippians 2:5-11
by PSacramento inin paul's letter to the phillipans, typically dated 50-60 ad, paul says:.
your attitude should be the same as christ.
you being the very nature(form) of god, did not consider equality to god as something to be held on to (grasped), but made himself nothing, thaking the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness.

New World Translation, is it the best bible translation?
by littlebuddy inmy jw elder friend said to me that the nwt is the best translation of the bible and that scholars have said as much.
is this true and is it the best?
are there scholars who disagree?.
-
Lieu
TD,
One also haas to watch those 17-18th Century translations. A problem arises when we find that men of those times fancied the 'poetic' as a sign of high breeding and scholarship. This lent to all the occasions of pluperfect - present subjuntives being used in translations.
I'll wait until someone finds "the oldest" and translates that to English [which of course will be modern Eng]. Until then, I'll use whichever version I happen to have handy.

when we find the actual originals, we can THEN prove which is the best Bible translation, and NOT before
This is my thought on the matter. Until then, they're all in the same inacurracy boat; one no better than the next.
