who has the worst exaggerated story to tell about being a dub?
ex.. when i was a child we had to sit for fourteen hour assembly days in the hot sun without fans because they were not allowed for the other sheep.
we had to take shorthand of every word written in the talks and review our notes for two hours after the convention was over.

while browsing thru the site, you'll be treated to the.
rousing midi renditions of the kingdom melodies!!.
There is a picture of Charles Taze Russell for the kiddies to color! Isn't that a bit to much?! A form of worship setting him up like that! Disgusting!
"Now kiddies, here is a picture of Jesus to color, and along side of that here is a picture of Charles Taze Russell? Right! After you are done with that, you can color the picture of Jezebel being thrown out the window to her death."
"Following that, we will go to the 2 different pictures of Stephen being stoned to death."
"When you are done coloring, I will tuck you into bed so you can have "sweet dreams" little ones!"

i would be interested in hearing from any of you that have successfully "faded away" from the wbts.
i realize that there is no easy way to leave because of the way that the jw's will treat me.
mainly, i am concerned with my family.
I started fading away about 8 years ago. I had a lot of doubts and my meeting attendance slipped greatly. My Mom (a JW) got colon cancer that had already spread through out her body. I spent most of my time doing things for her and taking care of my family. I hated the way she was treated while she went down hill. The brothers were remodeling our KH and just didn't have time for a sister who had been faithful to Jehovah for some 35 years. I had to beg for ones to visit her in the nursing home, with few exceptions. When she did die I had to beg the brother that she chose to do her memorial talk, who knew the all those years, to find the time to do it for her. It all made me sick. We moved away about 1 1/2 years later into the neighboring territory. We went to the first two memorials and 3 meetings within the first couple of years. No one bothered with us during that time nor since. I get calls from a sister when my subs run out and that's about it. It has really been great. Such peace, especially since I have done years of research on the net and elsewhere and really know the facts about the "Truth". True freedom!
I have a few in-laws that are JW's but two families are in Texas. The ones close here just stay clear. When we have contact we talk and that is all. It will be interesting though soon. My one SIL is dying from cancer. Her husband is DF and she had made it clear years ago that she is not interested in being a JW anymore. She has gone on to celebrate the holidays and never looked back. Another SIL is also considered and "apostate". The JW sister has been in regular contact with the sister with the cancer. I am glad that she is but it seems so hypocritical. But I guess she soothes her conscience with the fact that it is a "family" situation and allowable. Sad. But I do wonder how all will act when the ill sister dies. There are close cousins too that are JW's and I wonder how they will handles things then also. Should be interesting. But I assume that all will behave to some degree. It is so sad the the JW beliefs divide families like they do. The one set of cousins has gone out of the way to avoid me now for over a year, since the last time that I was with them I expounded on the things that I had found out and they were to shocked to deal with them. Never came to my youngest daughter's grad party last year either. But a new life has replaced them and life has gotten better. I have more time and a lot less quilt. I am going to college now and life gets more real every day.
Wish you the best in your choice. Take it slow and easy, it is usually the best way to handle it JW-wise and emotionaly. There is a lot of emotions to deal with depending on how long you are in and how involved you are while in.

since i left the org.
i have read some mind-boggling books on subjects such as mind-control, witchcraft, demonism, and conspiracy theories.. i obviously do not believe all i read but never-the-less have come across interesting real-life experiences that have made me wonder.. recently i read david icke's "the biggest secret" and found his theories on shape-shifting lizards ruling the world bizarre to say the least.. but something david icke said stopped me in mid-sneer.he said replace the lizards with demons if that was how you wanted to think of it.. it reminded me of a book i once borrowed from library about a young woman who was possessed by demons and described their shifting appearance as horrifically ugly or transforming to absolute visions of male beauty.. so if satan and his demons do rule this world as we were taught is it so unbelievable that they might possess influental people and certain individuals with psychic perception would be able to catch glimpses of them shape-shifting?.
anyone else familiar with icke's ideas and material?
Carl Sagan's "The Demon-Haunted World" is a fantastic book! I read it and it helps you understand how people get so caught in their belief's. It goes into the UFO stuff too. Carl Sagan had a great mind.

I have read that stuff from David Icke and found it very interesting. But I got to "involved" with it and it started to make me a bit paranoid so I left it be for a while. A lot of it makes sense and is, to say the least, interesting. Did you read the military connections about the dragons with the marines? Lizard, dragons and the like go way back as far as symbols. The more I read the more everything ties together. I have found most everything I read ties in some how with the Bible, and not always in a good, and righteous way. It all circles around each other.
I found this following site last week and you might be interested in exploring it. This site deals with things like the multiple Gods, fairies and such and where they came from. All these things are a part of our history and I always thought that they had/have a basis somewhere. So the more I read the more likely I find that it isn't all in the Bible, and the Bible certainly doesn't hold all truths, and leaves some truths dangling a bit.
Please share with us your thoughts on things. E-mail me if you want to discuss this stuff off of here, if you'd like. Here's the site:

adoption by jehovah's witnesses is blocked .
the independent - united kingdom; may 26, 2001. by brian farmer.
a couple originally approved by a council as adoptive parents have been refused permission by social workers to adopt a child, because they are jehovah's witnesses.
We were foster parents for about 3 years or so. There are a lot of Amish in our county and a few are foster parents. I wondered why the Amish would get involved in being foster parents since they avoid most all modern "English" ways. (Anyone who isn't Amish is "English") I found out in a short time that they enter the system in order to bring "new blood" into the Amish community. There is a large amount of inbreeding with cousins and the like because of the smallness of the community and other Amish at distant communities are hard to come by. So they are adopting children to fill the void. I have questioned this because of raising these kids in such an extreme culture from the "norm" around them. I know I wouldn't want my child being adopted by them. At least with a JW family the kid has a better chance to being normal than if adopted by the Amish trying to live in the old world inside the modern world. Although, I wouldn't given the choice, have JW's raise my kid either.

i'm probably going to a grad party for a jw kid.
dad is an elder, mom a pioneer.
i'd like to think of some gift that would actually help the guy, and still not clue in his parents that i work for satan.
I like cash, kids like cash. My youngest daughter graduated last year and she ended up with $440 dollars and some nice gifts too. But with cash they can do what they want to, or need to, with it. Dear Abby said last year that $10 dollars is appropriate for a HS gradusation gift. I usually give about $25. If it is a niece or nephew I give more, according to my budget at the time. I figure even if you give a cheap gift, by the time you use gas money, your time, buy a card and gift wrapping and a ribbon and bow, you have spent about $25 bucks!
Lindy (Antique), just being practical
didn't find an appropriate forum for this unique perspective:.
'our planet spends billions on searching for extraterrestrial life.
have they never thought seriously about the question: what would happen if we found it, or if it found us.
Fun topic!

Dig around in here, lots of stuff relating to how we got here on this earth besides a "one God created us" thing, which is related to "UFOs" in the past.

looking back over many years of prayers, i cannot pinpoint any time when i felt, unequivocally, that i had received a personal response to my prayers.
can anyone here relate any experiences where you have felt that god answered prayers for you?
I put (Antique) after my name because I changed my name from Antique to Lindy when I came here and I wanted my friends from other places to know it was me. I noticed that there are still some coming here that have not been here before so I still do it. I probably will stop after a while. That is why COMF call me "Auntie" and others Antique.
BTW, I am glad that your cancer surrendered to treatment. Religion does produce possitive thinking if you truly believe. And possitive thinking has been proven to work out for a person in healing the body. So in that way, I quess you could say that prayers are answered. But athiests get the same results just practicing possitive thinking in other ways. It just depends on the game you play.

the wt definition of "only in the lord" meaning only dedicated witnesses of jehovah in good standing greatly narrows the field of eligible mates.
this has brought about some unusual unions because of the circumstances, involving people who would ordinarily not meet, let alone marry, if it were not for a shared belief system.. what unusual couplings have you seen in your jw days?
how large was your personal field of possibilities and did it include some unusual options?
Both of my marriages resulted from being a JW. Raised that way the options were very slim. Coming from a family that had it's own issues and the resulting self-esteme issues really put a cramp on my style. My father was not a JW, which made it even worse. Our family were nobodies, so we got to choose from the other nobodies.
If I could have chosen from all the guys that I knew, I definitely would have chosen a man that was not a JW. I had my eye on several here and there. I would have went to college first and then chose someone more compatable. But you can't go back...only forward. At least my girls won't be stuck in the same situation as I had.
