Definitely call the authorities and child protective services. If a child comes to you with a story of abuse against them, we are then in a position of mandatory reporting the situation to the proper authorities. If we do not we then are liable for neglect.

In general, what is the ethically correct response if a minor tells you someone is molesting him/her?
by InterestedOne ini was thinking about what the elders are trained to do versus what i personally would do if a minor confided in me that someone was molesting him/her.
i'm not sure what the ethically correct first response should be.
my first thought is to contact some kind of law enforcement that specializes in investigating situations like this with people experienced in getting to the truth of the matter.

Can We Please Stop Referring To The Simplified English Watchtower A The Dumbed Down Version
by Philadelphia Ponos ini really shouldn't have to say any of this but as someone who is in the process of learning a second language, i can tell that simple language makes things a lot clearer when you are not familiar with the language.
everyone on here started out reading simplified english while they were learning, including you native speakers.
i'm sure no one here was reading on a college level in elementary school.

I'm glad this subject was brought up and clarified. A sister from my hall came to my house a couple of weeks ago, she had picked up my magazines from the hall and brought them to me. I really didn't want them but was cordial to her and took them. She then explained to me that the material has been simplified by the society due to the fact that people in the world are uneducated and need the bible truths to be dumbed down for them to grasp. Wow crazy huh?

I didn't go either despite being invited 3 times. I let my 15 year old daughter go, I really didn't want her to go but she just wanted to make her grandmother, my mother-in- law happy. What made me sad and angry was what she told me afterward about how everyone was nice to her at Memorial and they normally ignore her and shun her at all the meetings. My daughter hasn't done anything wrong to anyone in the KH in fact she is a good kid. I home school her, I always know where she is which is home most of the time. I worry so much about my daughter I wouldn't even let her hang out or be friends with those kids at the KH that are her age because I feel that they are bad influences! Then to top it of my pious sister-in-law, who is one of the reasons I left that sorry place has the nerve to introduce my daughter to some eligible brothers in hopes of sparking her interest. My sister in law has a rep for playing match maker and is very bad at it to boot. I am so glad my daughter is an intelligent girl and was having none of the introduction and decided to sit by grandma instead. She has adamantly expressed that she has no plans on being baby bride like most of the sisters in our hall had become.

Ohhh for crying out loud, were worldly people always inviting you to stuff?!?!?!
by miseryloveselders inlast friday, a woman i work with, who reminds me of scully from the x-files, asked me to hang out with her and her friends at a watering hole not that far from where we work.
she and her friends get off roughly an hour before i get off, and considering the amount of work i had on my desk at the time, and the amount of time i wasted on here, i knew it'd would be a while before i caught up with them.
so i told her i'll try, but i won't get off until roughly 6:30pm or later.

Thank you OTWO I will try that. I keep thinking about the conversation I had with him and why I just didn't say "No" it was almost like a deer in the headlights sort of thing...

Well I don't want to be DFed as of right now but I am worried I won't be able to shut my mouth about the things that I have found out. I know they are going to put me on some trip about tattooing but they don't pay my bills nor do they seem to care about my circumstances.

So him and another elder will be here on Monday at 7:30 pm. I haven't had a shepherding call in over 2 years. I have a feeling it has something to do with my new profession as a tattoo artist and word is getting around. The witnesses from my hall have been snubbing me for a long time except for one sister who comes by once every week to try to get me to come back. My son said that I don't have to except a visit from them but what do I have to be afraid of? I need a little advice....

my dirty fantasies
by varian inwhen i was a single jw, well, lets say around about my early 20ies, i used to to let my mind flow a bit during the kh meetings.. welll, anyway, i used to observe some of the "older" sisters around their late 30ies or 40ies in their stockings and high heels.
it really turned me on, i must admit.
i couldn t concentrate much of the programme due to this.

Hmm... JW women and Catholic school girls. That's two groups of sexually repressed females. Shall we go for a third?
Librarians?
