AMISH...Court Room Full Support ABUSER!
by lisaBObeesa ini saw this story on tv on the abc news this morning.
they showed shots of the courtroom full of amish men and women, many of them crying.
one of the attorneys being interviewed said that the court room was full of amish who had come in support of the abusers rather than the abused.

One of the attorneys being interviewed said that the court room was full of Amish who had come in support of the abusers rather than the abused. I found an article about the case. Really sad.
Perhaps it would be good to give ABC lots of feedback about this story and how important these kinds of stories are, as so many people are hurt in the same way by these same religious codes of silence, only in other religions...

A.C.O.R.N. Adult Children Of Religious Nuts.
ROFL!!!
I gotta remember that one! AA has saved the lives of several people I know very well. Alanon helped me very much. But I never could go to meetings for more than a few months because I did have some JW flash-backs in those meetings. But I think that was my post traumatic stess talking.

E-watchman is not disfellowshipped!?
by Noumenon ini note that e-watchman has just confirmed that he is not disfellowshipped, despite running an 'apostate' website and having sent 1000's of letters around the us, canada, and bethels around the world.
this from his latest mailbag questions and answers:.
"as for any judicial action taken against me, no, there was none.

Hi,
Your post brought back memories for me...memories about wanting 'out' so badly.
I just wanted to get out and be with PEOPLE. I felt so trapped as a young person.
I remember waiting until my whole family was asleep and then going out and sitting on the front steps, late at night on a saturday night, and listening to the sounds of PEOPLE. All those people.....driving cars, listening to music, watching TV, being at parties, dancing, talking, LIVING. I just wanted to be out there.
I did get out there as soon as I could, and I am glad I did. But I got into some trouble because I had had a sheltered life. And since I was not 'wise to the world' as they say, I got hurt. (But things came out ok!)
All I can say is that I remember feeling some of the feelings you write about, and it will get better, and you will have a relationship....and be picky about who you get involved with...and be careful if you decide to really 'get out' because being a JW does not prepare us well for the real world...
Anyway, sorry for rambling.......
Take care!

Where were you three years ago today?
by hemp lover ini was thinking last night that 9/11/01, for this generation, is somewhat akin to 11/22/63 (jfk's assassination) for previous generations.
i remember listening to the adults' stories when i was a child of where they were and what they were doing when jfk was assassinated.. so where were you on 9/11/01?
how has that day affected your life?.

I live on the west coast. I got up, got myself ready for work and the kids ready for school. We all got into the car and picked up another child in our carpool and I headed off to drop the kids off at school.
At about 8:15 am our time, I was on the on-ramp to the freeway when I turned on the radio. The first sounds I heard were the words, "As impossible as it is to imagine, the fact is that the World Trade Center no longer exists." I wanted to stop the car right there, but I couldn't because I was on the freeway. I drove slowly in stunned silence.
The kids wanted to know what happened and I told them some bad people flew a plane into a big building. My oldest said, "Well that was stupid! They must be dead now, too!" I said yes, it was stupid. And terrible. I tried to stay calm as possible. I didn't want them to feel scared or worried. I told them we were safe because that it happened far, far away. In my heart, I was not so sure.
I dropped off my kids at school, and went to my job. I am an instructional aide in a continuation high school. The kids I teach were shaken. The teacher I work with was in a panic. I spent the day trying to hide the fact I was stunned and worried and hiding little tears that seemed to creep out when I stopped remembering to hold them in. And I spent the day listening to the kids talk...and also keeping them aware of the facts we knew, reminding them that we were safe, and dispelling wild stories and stopping hate speech.
After work, I got in my car, drove away from the school, and cried.

In memory of all those who lost their lives that day, and for all the thousands more who lost dear loved ones and for whom the world will never be the same. And for all of us.
Remember.
