I told the baptist church pastor that I'm gay!
by TimothyT inhis reaction wasnt as liberal as i hoped it would be.
he said that we needed to discuss it.

Thats exactly what i said.
"Nurture has a lot to play in the matter, but from my own personal thoughts and experience i feel this trait is deeply ingrained in me and has been since before i can remember (nature)"
I believe the feeling was inborn in me, but no doubt that i and others have somehow nurtured my own feelings and desires. I do tend to lean towards the nature side though.

Thanks for all the comments everyone! I still havnt made up my mind if i want to go and speak to the pastor yet! I dont feel i need to at all!
If i dont, i will try another church and the first question i will ask will be about sexuality! I would want to nip it in the bud straight away and know if i will be accepted or if there will be issues later on.
Some nice comments here and im very interested in what the bible says on sexuality. It has occured to me that God is not partial and i believe this also includes issues such as homosexuality. I remember one sister say to me that its similar to an illness which makes you do things you wouldnt normaly want to do and Jehovah understands it. Although i dont like it being compared to an illness i see what she says when Jehovah wouldnt reject me just as much as he wouldnt reject someone with an illness which permanantly affects their lives for example.
I take comfort in the fact that God reads hearts and knows who i am, what im thinking, and what i desire, even when little humans struggle so much with this. Thanks to those of you who have helped and understood me here. I appreciate your thoughts! :)

If it makes any difference, i knew i was gay from a young age and i didnt feel any previous kind of stimulus to make me want to be gay. My brother and I had a wonderfuly balanced upbringing, yet he is straight and im not. Personaly i feel nurture has a lot to play in the matter, but from my own personal thoughts and experience i feel this trait is deeply ingrained in me and has been since before i can remember (nature)!
Very true Mary... plus one can be a homo and be mentaly diseased remember! :) Im sure in there books im worthy of double death! :)

Are you a member of the homosexual community? (Yes.) Can you say that you have honestly found satisfaction and fulfillment in that way of life? (Being true to myself has brought me great happiness yes. Similarly meeting someone i love and who loves me has made me very happy.) Thousands of homosexuals have learned in the hard way that the “gay life” is not gay. (Im sure they have. Im sure many straight people have also had their fair share of troubles too.) Their course, says homosexual William Carroll, “can lead to cynicism, despair and even suicide.” (Im sure it CAN, but that doesnt nescesarily mean it WILL. On the other hand, if many DONT choose this course it CAN lead to suicide. Explain that one WT?) Why let that happen to you? (Exactly! We all want the best life and we cant base it on assumptions and weasel words such as 'can'.) Why not change course like those first-century homosexuals and really enjoy life? (I am enjoying life too much now and I dont want to revert to depression and suicidal feelings. Ta!)

"JehovahsWitnesses do not try to predict when God will destroy the wicked."
by stillstuckcruz insorry i pressed enter on the last topic by mistake.
anyway, in the new december 1st, public edition of the wt, in an article titled "will the earth survive 2012?
" an actual paragraph says this:.

They insist they dont try to predict when the end is coming, but at conventions and meetings, all you hear is: "ITS SOOOO CLOSE BROTHERS! CLOSER NOW THAN ITS EVER BEEN!" Is that itself not a prediction of the end?

So why did the organisation cause you anxiety or depression?
by TimothyT inin regards to my other post regarding attending counselling as a jw, i was wondering what it was about being a jw that caused you to be anxious, stressed or depressed?.
for me, i knew that the person i wanted to be was constantly being supressed by the wt.
there was a battle going on in my head between who i wanted to be and who they wanted me to be.

For me, I knew that the person I wanted to be was constantly being supressed by the WT. There was a battle going on in my head between who I wanted to be and who they wanted me to be. It led to dreadful depression and eventualy to me accepting who I am and leaving. I have never felt happier and more alive! Also, I think that if you leave, then the threats from the platform that you have left the truth, have nowhere else to go, and will lose your family and friends, realy screw with people's minds.
What about you?

Where Is The WBTS, Inc. On This Timeline?
by metatron ina simple question.
figure out where the watchtower business is on this business lifecycle timeline (hint: notice the phrase "cost cutting").

HAHA!!! Mickey mouse, i LOVE that pic and the few annotations.
Yes this does bring back the old business management lectures. Looking at it from this point of view, it seems to me that membership figures have stagnated which shows that the JW 'brand' has reached its maturity. Unless they can find some quirky new way of rebranding (new light?) then i think as Mickey Mouse puts it, they are heading for the cult scrapyard! GOOD RIDDANCE!

Here's a good one the Jehovah's witnesses are worse than Nazi's
by Star tiger ini'm not sure if this is a controversial subject or not, i suspect it is, the 1936-1945 nazi regime were the most evil b*****d's in the world and thankfully were destroyed, however the jehovah's witnesses having sufffered under their rule, then became even more evil not by destroying the person's physical life, but destroying their way to god, if a person leaves then they become dead to god, and this from a second rate publishing company!
please don't think i'm being flippant about all the suffering and death the nazi's caused, but as we are most of us spiritual people, surely the witnesses caused a catastrophy in the post 1945 era.. best regards,.

Its a good point. I have certainly noticed many similarities between the two.
- Both believed salvation lay within them.
- Both expected full compliance.
- Both had systems to expose and get rid of doubters and troublemakers.
- Both tortured (mentaly and emotionaly) those who were wrongdoers or who rejected their ideology.
- Both made extensive use of written and oral propoganda.
The list goes on, but in many ways, it appears that the system of control used by the Nazis was an effective one, and im sure it isnt so dissimilar to the one used by the WT today.
