Need someone to talk to

hi i've been a jw my whole life and i'm 17 now.

i've never had a mine of my own and recently i started thinking more open minded and i know the being a jw isn't for me.

i feel like i've been in a bubble my whole life.

I am beyond thrilled that you have found this site! You have no idea how many times I cried thinking about you and your siblings and all the wasted potential. I always had to hold my tongue because I feared not being able to be in your lives at all. When you started to express your feelings to me I still held back still in fear of scaring you away. This past year has been a blessing in disguise for you. I am so happy that you found the courage to venture off and step out into to the "big scary world". It can be scary and there is a lot of bad out there. But you are absolutely one of the good ones! You have a heart of gold and you are a thinker. You are beautiful inside and out. You have so much talent and depth and I am just over the moon thinking about your future outside of the org. Follow your dreams kiddo! and "Oh The Places You'll Go!" .

Very sad news - Amber Scorah

many of you know amber scorah as the ex jw writer who wrote this very inspiring article: http://www.believermag.com/issues/20130 ... cle_scorahshe has been an inspiration to many, many people as they navigate their way through the many feelings and issues that come with leaving the jw cult.amber is also my cousin.on monday, she lost her 3 month old baby son, karl.

a foundation has been set up to help them face these costs.

How Many JWs actually Watch JW.TV?

what do you know from your own experience and talking to other active jws?

i know from my own informal, non-scientific survey that most jws do not watch jw.tv.

Most of my family members watch it religiously. Some watch same cap over and over and post about on social media all the time.

Had my Hopes up for this Regional Convention

heard a lot buzz for our upcoming convention.

those that already been were saying how great it was and all the videos that were presented.. well, thus far not impressed!

in fact many times pure insanity!

It's the best ever!! Cmon stop being so negative people! Jehovah ha finally caught his people up with the times. They are no longer a printing press they have come movie production company!

Has anyone heard or noticed that they are slathering makeup on the speakers now? I heard this but I don't know if it's true. Apparently it is for the cameras! Ha! Jehovah must be smiling down on them now.

Now they get to wear jw.org pins and have the logo plastered anywhere they want. It was not too long ago they were being counseled for having God's name printed on gold and different items.

The new Return to Jehovah brochure is welcoming back any/all without questions it seems. Doesn't matter of you attended other churches, became political, celebrated holidays. Jehovah is ready to forgive and forget. Of course that is if you open you wallet and come back to him.

It's a whole new world in dubland!

Most brain dead sit com of all time

ok..before you start no i don't watch them but my family have a never ending need to watch "how i met your mother" and endless repeats of "friends" .

canned laughter, one liners with pause so those of lesser brain can catch the 'humour'.

i have to put up with the sound track.. thank god for the abc classic fm-radio.

I have to disagree here. Not a fan of How I met your Mother but Friends was pretty funny imo. I've seen plenty of shows with laugh tracks that do not succeed at making me laugh. I just change the channel. Not a big fan of the Phoebe character but I have found myself laughing at her at times too. But not always. But he rest of the cast and writing I found quite amusing and worth watching. Everyone has their own tastes and I wouldn't think someone is brain dead for not liking some of my all time favorites, MASH, I love Lucy, Seinfeld, Friends, Curb Your Enthusiasm just to name a few.

I believe the song above, I won't forget you, was mixed with video from the Typhoon in the Philippines. I am not sure though. I didn't see the broadcast with this video.

i'm not judging these poor young people, if this is how they are coping with the trauma of losing their mum i can only wish them well.

i have to admit though that my jaw dropped when i first saw this interview, i couldn't square their reaction with what i understand as 'normal' human grief.. is this religiously motivated form of forgiveness a positive thing?

should i acknowledge this as something to be said in favour of religion?.

I agree their feelings are probably suppressed right now. It will take them some time to process this. Incredibly sad!

He actually took a dig at the Catholic Church right at the beginning ofvthe quoted comments. He said "strangely" it was the Catholic church that took the message to preach seriously.

He took one more dig at them and Martin Luther I believe. He said somethink like Martin Luther was almost a Catholic. Oh Gawed! The horror! Ha! They still cannot help themselves from insulting the Catholics. Some habits die hard.

Dubs are clinging to this idea still! My family makes comments like "don't you see it?" You're always watching news how can you not see or get the sense that governments are going to turn on religion?"

A few days ago a pioneer dub I talked to at the door made a similar comment. I told her just as I told my sister I just don't see it. How is it possible Government is going to ban religion? It's a nice thought as religion is a problem but it is not the only problem in this world.
