That depends. Any skeptic can point to some Biblical error, but an apologist may counter that with some alternative interpretation. The problem with that, is that you can do the same thing with any holy book (or any secular text, really). Many of those alternate interpretations rely on circular arguments as well...meaning, when someone does things like that, you can't "prove" them "wrong" because they can always come up with some reply, but you can point out logical error where it may exist.

Why do Americans still dislike atheists?
by behemot inby gregory paul and phil zuckerman (washington post).
long after blacks and jews have made great strides, and even as homosexuals gain respect, acceptance and new rights, there is still a group that lots of americans just dont like much: atheists.
those who dont believe in god are widely considered to be immoral, wicked and angry.

About Dawkins, I can see why he'd upset many a theist with his attitude and wordchoice at times. He's very outspoken. In some ways, I think that's a good thing, because in religiously-dominated societies, atheists need to stand up for themselves. On the other hand, I think the WAY he says certain things, it ends up feeding that stereotype of atheists--as god-haters, arrogant, know-it-alls, smarter than god, having a grudge against him.

Well, when you're taught that people who question God are bad and will go to hell, this is what you end up with...

Aug.1 WT: God is not omnipresent, independent of physical universe, uses probes
by unshackled inwas checking out the aug. 1 public watchtower and the our readers ask... is does god dwell in one place?

@unshackeled: they tried to say something else recently that was ridiculous: that he isn't omniscient! He didn't KNOW Adam and Eve would sin because, get this, he only looks into the future selectively! What the hell?!

Could Christians please respond; Is there a penalty for rejecting Jesus?
by nicolaou in.
hell is pretty much out of vogue these days so if this rabid atheist decidedly turns his back on god and/or christ what will become of me?.

All 3 faiths? They're like, a couple hundred religions short. I'm still waiting for people to realise atheism is a legitamate worldview as well.
Anyway, is religious tolerance and one-world-governent the same thing? I'm not so sure you can convince the fundamentalists that interfaith is okay. Even if countries will adopt official religions, or there will be some kind of world-wide adoption, I still think you'll have your fundies holding bible study in homes, or someone getting tragically beheaded because they broke some kind of god's law, or people reading books. The die-hard religious will sneak around and defy government, if they just believe their preferred god really wants them to.

SURVEY: Is a JWN members post count a reasonable indicator of their theist/atheist position? If so what can be learned from that?
by nicolaou ini've done no research on this but i suspect that a members belief or absence of belief in god may have some correspondence with the number of posts he or she has made.. my tentative suggestion is that members with fewer than 500 posts are mostly believers while members with more than 3000 posts are mostly non-believers.
of course there are exceptions, maybe quite a few, but i'm only dealing with generalities here.
so how about a survey?

Personal Validation Fallacy - as Applied to "World Conditions"
by BluesBrother inotherwise known as "the forer effect" after the guy who first demonstrated it, this is the means by which fake astrologers can appear to make amazing comments about you, which they could not possibly have known.
bertram forer presented his class with what he said was a personality assessment created for them individually.
in fact every paper was the same.

Do you yearn to know what we are, and why we are here, before you die?
by sabastious inlets face it, we don't know what humans are.
science is doing a good job at uncovering many facts about us, but even science cannot explain consciousness yet.
conciousness is still a strong mystery to us.
