Hi, new to this forum. Figured I'd let everyone know about my story before I got involved.
by JonathanH inif you just want the juicy details where i leave, i'll make disclaimer where it begins, if you just want to know what happened with the elders and organization after i realized it wasn't true, i'll mark that seperately.
we didn't do jack shit in service, or in the congregation.
maybe this was how jehovah came about?

The loss of a pet is the worst thing ever. Especially for us EX-JW's... a lot of us pour out our heart to those furry little guys. I know one thing that helped me was to get another one right away and poor out my heart to that one.
Now my new baby has all the love of the old and the new one. I love her so much.
In any case big hugs to you! It's so difficult, but it will get better.

I'm pretty sure we can all relate to this song in one way or another...
Lyrics:
Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting
I'm through with doubt
There's nothing left for me to figure out
I've paid a price
And I'll keep paying
I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
?Cause I'm mad as hell, can't bring myself
To do what it is you think I should
I know you said
?Can't you just get over it??
It turned my whole world around
And I kinda like it
I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don't mind sayin'
It's a sad, sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter sayin' that I better
Shut up and sing or my life will be over
I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
?Cause I'm mad as hell, can't bring myself
To do what it is you think I should
I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
?Cause I'm mad as hell, can't bring myself
To do what it is you think I should
What it is you think I should
Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting -

I'm sorry to hear your family is treating you this way. I have had similar experiences although it was with my parents who talk a lot more than they act.
My mother once told my now partner to her face... "You will never love our daughter the way we do. " I haven't seen my parents in 6 years, but my girl is still with me supporting me, the real me every day.
Stay true to your heart, only you know what is right for YOU!

Blind Allegiance to G.B. supported by scripture?
by honorsthesis inhey everyone,.
i have been getting in on going debates with brothers in the congregation about the role of the governing body.
i feel that jehovah would not want us to blindly follow a particular g.b.

Wontleave- Your post about Moses as an example of the GB is very intelligently laid out.
It was also for me thier policy- the way they treated people that was difficult for me. I too believe them to be much more like Pharisees.
In any case, that was a great few paragraphs to read, thank you for that.

New member - my story
by Millions injust a brief introduction, i thought i would try out one of the more established forums, have done some stuff on youtube and other places but thought i would give this a try.. potted history: raised jw by mother, in it for 30 years or so, baptised at age 18, regular pioneer at 20, ms a couple years later, mts at 26 and got assignment to a new cong, elder at around 29, came off pioneering around 31, came off as elder around 32, started to slowly wind down, completely stopped attending about 3 years ago, disassociated dec 2010. pause for breath.. the last 5 years or so have been a painfully gradual process of deconstructing myself and then piecing together fragments of my shattered life that are still valid outside the organisation.
the question 'who am i?
' has been a continual investigation; every day for the first couple of years i would realise another subject or issue that i didn't have my own opinions about.

Welcome Millions... I'm new to this website as well.
It is an encouraging place to be. To find people the same as you after not being allow to be "you" at all for so many years is refreshing.
I enjoyed many of your observations and have had many of the same ones myself! Can't wait to get to know you all more!

I'm so sorry to hear how your family is treating you
Thank you for that! It's been a while since I left, but as I try to explain to people who don't understand JW's... it's not something you ever just "get over."
It's truly a difficult thing to explain. I don't even just mean the pain, I mean the pure craziness and complexity of it all.
JW's and the control they have over your brain and life is like a torture. It's a mind control in most cases from birth, where you don't know you have other options available to you. If you don't or can't live up to the unrealistic standards that supposedly "Jehovah" expects from you, then you are wicked. You go day by day living in guilt, even if you are obeying as many rules as you can, because no matter what God can read your heart and they beat it into you that none of us are good. It's basically up to Jehovah if he will save you or not. You literally live in fear, you just survive day in, day out, waiting for armageddon. You don't live, you survive, it's fight or flight mode every day.
Most days I don't know how I escaped. The thing is, even if you do, we will always be "Ex-JW's" like survivors of the holocaust.
The difference between them and us is, I know right now today, there are people including my brother, and family living in that "holocaust."
They are being mind controlled and told things that are ludicrous. My family has disowned me because of the mind control. Most of us have had to get out of that mess by giving up every single person who ever supposedly "loved" us. And now every day that we live, we have to continue to make that decision.
We have to decide we are worth more than that. It's not easy having no family. It's not easy when others have tons and take them for granted. It's not easy because when we are down, we don't have family or friends that we grew up with to rely on. Friends are great, but when they HAVE a family, the relationship will never mean the same thing to them as it does to us. That is our reality, that is what the organization has done and is doing to peole every single day.
I've made a great life for myself with someone who loves me very much in the past 6 years since I've left. I'm an incredibly happy person, with people that do love me. But I will always continue to tell my story. Even if just one person makes it out, I will have done my job. :) -

I have a huuuge family in the so called "truth." Over 11 aunts, 11 uncles, 50 first cousins, 2 grandmothers, 1 grandfather, and extended from that is their families they are all married to. Some of my cousins spouses have families as big as ours.
I've been shunned by all of them for being disfellowshipped. My family is hard core, it would take something absolutely amazing for them to change. I'm not saying they wouldn't, I'm just saying I still haven't heard 1 small peep from them about doubts or leaving. :(
