  Oh, and Wales is always lumped with England...
  ...and they don't like it anymore than the Scot's do...
  ...and if you try calling Southern Ireland "British", they'll likely bite your head off and spit down your neck!!!
  (The only ones who appear to like it are the Northern Irish, and Falklanders)

  Hi Waiting,

  I hale from Scotland, and I know of at least one Scot who was on an upper floor (he comes from a village near me) and is *confirmed* missing.
  Sadly he was due to return home next month to be married (to a New Jersey lass).

  I would be surprised if many quarters of the globe manage to remain untouched by some loss from all of this. It's one hell of a loss to all.

  Incase I didn't get my point across - condolences from here too.
  I've been "praying incessantly" since I saw it live on the newsflash (Tuesday lunchtime, here), and mourning since the realisation started to thaw through my numbed senses. The three minute silence, earlier, was indescribable.

  And yup, I'm new here, but don't exactly feel like posting my experience just yet. Let me stop hurting a little first, eh?

  Please don't flame me for this, but just a minor point of correction:
  British, not English.

  I don't mean to sound sectarian (especially not at a time like this - besides, I'm not) but not all the 500 were English... some were Scottish and others probably Welsh or Irish.
  In addition there were probably some from bonnie Eire, as well (not British, but also damn fine people).

  Sorry to intrude on your excellent points - I'll disappear back into the corner again, now.

  We had something like that at last night's Service Meeting.
  I went grey, and blanked out for a few minutes, while I recovered.

  ...in fact I'm feeling sick again dwelling on it (the meeting, not just the situation).
  I've got a strange feeling that I won't be pounding the streets this weekend.

  I'm getting the same bodily reaction when my wife goes on about it being a prelude to the Great Trib. - but then she's got "WT" stamped on her ass and her retina's.

  i was sat watching tv tonight, her ladyship was dozing after a hard day, george the cat was purring and number 3 son had fallen asleep.. number 2 son was talking on the phone to his girlfriend, number 1 was out selling finance to prospective home-buyers.. know what?

  these sons of mine know that i am always on their side, no matter what they do.

  i can't think of anything that they could do to stop me loving them.

  Not all JW parents shun their children.
  I certainly know that mine didn't when my sister was DF'ed a few years ago.
  She got reinstated, and is now looking likely to be out again, with a similar result as before.

  Not all will react the same way.
  My bro. shunned her - I could not (and will not).

  Just to address Julie's point about unconditional love:
  The bible does teach the doctrine of "grace" (regardless of the comments of Wt. on 1Cor.10:12, etc.).
  The illustration of the "prodigal son" (or more importantly his father) is a point in case.

  Just my 2p (from a recently woken, but currently still active dub).

  i appreciate the words of another poster who commented that he felt it unwise to post in anger.

  i have tried to hold calm and keep my anger in check, but that started to change with my nato posting yesterday.. i am set back over 30 years: i was raised to respect all races, and not to be prejudiced.

  i was also raised a proud american, and that it was important not to tolerate bullies.

  IMHO if Bin Laden gets extradited, the delays of the legal process will likely frustrate everyone as much as that of the Lockerbie one.
  That one is still ongoing, and people are still grieving.
  Maybe US law is quicker than our Scot's law, I dunno, but I doubt it.

  While they're at it they should also lock up all the sick-heads who've started making jokes about this tragedy.

  In reply to the thread - I thought I was beyond this level of pain, since my sister and a few close friends were DF'ed a few years ago.
  And I'm fortunate (?) in that I never lost someone personally close, in this.

  The British three-minute silence concluded just a few moments ago.
  All in attendance at our gathering were deeply moved, and in fact the silence started earlier and finished later than planned.

  It's hard even to pray at a time like this, but I'm sure it's known that there are many prayers for all affected by this (which, to be honest, is pretty much everybody).

  Which timezone is that 7pm rememberance?

  I recently got told that my KJV might be demonised, and that I should stick solely to the NWT <vbg>.
  I've gotta say that the seriousness on the faces of loved ones made me "righteously indignant" (<g>) at the superstition. What a mind job!!!

  LittleToe - (a dub elder who's mind has been recently blown WIDE open by Holy Spirit, and seriously humbled by it - I'll post a testimony soon).
