As a very active elder, I can go with that. I'm lucky to get 2 hours/day freetime, and his site has nabbed most of that!!!
LOL!!!
I can't wait to get my hands back on all that time.
How should I spend it, do you think?

while having a wonderful visit with my way-cool sister, waiting, her hubby, her and i were discussing the number of hours per week it took to be a jw.. here's a breakdown of the time i spent per week:.
5 meetings a week = 5 hours.
getting dressed and travel time = 5 hours.
As a very active elder, I can go with that. I'm lucky to get 2 hours/day freetime, and his site has nabbed most of that!!!

more specifically, could you tell me your thoughts on verses such as:.
matthew 24:14. and could anyone give me some factual stats on the fact that jw's dont actually preach worldwide, or at least aren't recognized worldwide???.
and yes, i do need to be reassured!
Thirdson:
I caught your reference.
It was a "Yellow Pages" advert, wasn't it?
To bring my comments back on thread - Perhaps an add could be placed in the "Yellow Pages" Internet version under the heading "Good News"!!! Then the whole world would have access to it...unless the Chinese government get their way and ban the Internet there.

i just got this email.
it's strange - but some people never learn :) .
i am a jehovah's witness, i am writing to tell you that there has been .
because no one who does not treat Christ's brothers, the anointed, will enter into the kingdom
He didn't really qualify that bit.
Does he secretly know how JW's really treat their "anointed"?
It's a bit more like "trick or treat"!

on whtv upn 18 (channel 5) they aired the commercial put out by the congregation of jehovah's witnesses (12:38 am on monday night).
it is only airing in the north east us.. a brother who saw the commercial last friday said it was really nicely done.
it talks about family life and plays the kingdom songs in the background.. a telephone call to the society confirmed it was a trial, and it was a bonafide jw advertisement.. .
Excellent - this news has made my day.
I wondered how long it would take them.
The Mormons did this last year, offering a free video.
There really is nothing new under the sun.

back when i was a lusty young lad of 17, a certain sister caught my eye - i swear that she could make her eyelashes beckon - and i duly decided to pay court to said sister.. however, it was not to be so simple.
round about that time, it would have been mid-60's, the wtbts were having a real downer on anyone who wore a short skirt (not me), danced the twist or grew their hair (me) over their ears.. but, the worse thing was still to come.
folks, i am talking about chaperoning!
Stephanus:
You bring up a good point.
At a recent C.O.visit elder's meeting we were informed that masturbating during phone sex or online chat sessions constituted "unclean conduct".
Since there was no indication as to how this should be relayed to the R&F, am I'm left to assume that it was for the elders benefit???
LOL

hi folks!.
do we have any non-biblical evidence that would show how criminals were executed during jesus' day?
i beleive the cross was used for our saviour.

this is just a few thoughts that i have regarding the subject of anonimity.
yes, i am making this post after being in the chat room with several others including kent and prisca.
it seemed to me that kent posted prisca's pic mainly out of sheer mischievousness and was quite taken aback at her very real distress at having her identity exposed.
There have been some marvellous points made in this thread - thanks Eman.
I shall drop the anonymity when I am able, but can't for now, as many know. Personally my details are all over the web, anyway, however I can understand some level of paranoia when there are nuts out there.
Never bothered me too much, though.

mom: the elders are led by god's holy spirit.
mom: don't go there andi.. andi: what?
mom: andi, i'm going to hang up the phone if you go there.. andi: mom!
((((Billy))))
I ache with you, sweetheart, knowing similar pain.
Don't hate your mum for her actions. She's in pain too, and rejecting the disonace as further pain.
My mum went through a similar attitude when my sister was DF'ed.
At the time she was striking out at anything that made her world view crumble further. Simultaneously she was numb and unable to think clearly.
I'm not even going to get started on my feelings, just so much as to let you know I understand.
Just to do a bit of reverse-Jdubbing, look forward to the day when JC's will be a time of the past - when they bury them in the sand at low tide!!!!!!!!!

1969: i was still studying with the jws, attending meetings, and preparing for baptism.
one of the requirements was that i notify my previous religion, the roman catholic church where i was baptized as a baby in 1951, and demand they remove me from membership.. catholic policy: i wrote to my priest in southern california to follow-up on the jw requirement to write to the catholic church and demand removal.
but, unlike most churches, the catholic church never removes anyone from the membership.
Hi Amazing,
Great post.
A couple of months ago I got in contact with some old, dear friends, who I had shunned when DF'ed.
They were SO pleased to hear from me, in fact we're meeting up in a few weeks time.
Healing is possible, but it requires effort.
It's WORTH the effort!!!

i remember that when i was a witness, seeing certain phrases would trigger the response: "aha, this must be from an apostate!".
those words and phrases included:.
"the watchtower society"--because the brothers would usually just call it "the society" and because this was, of course, merely a legal instrument the brothers used to advance the preaching work.. "the governing body"--because despite the power they may wield, the governing body does stay in the background personality-wise most of the time and has done so pretty much since the days of knorr; therefore, i regarded any attempts to point to them as personally important as suspicious (and can recall being charmed in an odd way a few years ago when a brother giving a public talk was unable to recall the name of the society's current president).. "the rank and file"--obviously this was insulting because jehovah's witnesses have no clergy-laity division!
GermanJW:
You've actually highlighted an important point that needs to be considered when applying this thread.
Differant countries, even differant congregations, have a slight spin on exactly how they express themselves.
I don't know any congregation that uses the phrase "the slave". I have heard one brother use the phrase "the faithful and discreet slave", without being looked down upon, but I don't know if it would have been the case if he had liberally seasoned his comments with it.
