Clearing Things Up
by mindfield inno, this isn't another childish photoshop prank.. in the past day(s), probably many of you have noticed the facility that i had to lash out unnecessarily at other people.
i've insulted people who came to support me, i've embarassed myself, gone into arguments that i couldn't win, made a pretty flagrant face-about, and generally, made an ass of myself.
and for that i'm sorry.. to tell the truth, the last day (s) has/ve been a nightmare of sorts.

Chin up, Mind.
You just know it's going to get better and that life will go on...
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon...

So, Do You Yanks & Brits Realise That.........
by Englishman in.
..if the usa win their next 3 world cup games, and england win their next 2 games, then the usa and england will meet in the final to decide who will win the world cup?.
if that happens, unlikely as it is that the usa will defeat mexico tomorrow.

Out:
If it's any consolation, the chances are that England won't make the final, either

So Who's Coming To My Barbie This Year?
by Englishman inok all you lucky people, this is the big one!.
every july, around about the time of my birthday, her ladyship and myself host the barbie to end all barbies.
fun, frolics and fizz are the order of the day, this is the social event, places are more in demand than tickets to watch england play (that's artistic licence btw), even dub in the pub turned up last year.. originally started 10 years ago to get the local pubs regulars together, i usually invite about 40 from the pub, about 15 little & big hooper's, and i am now throwing open an invitation for about 15 - 20 posters from this site to join in the fun.. the event will, weather permitting, take place on sunday july 21. meet at the waverley pub, severn road, weston - super - mare between 12noon and 3pm.

Hi Eman:
If the invite's still open, I'd love to come. It's the wrong end of the country, but what's a few miles...
(Sorry about the belated reply - I missed the thread)

The case is inconclusive for both positions with Rom.3:2 also being used as evidence that Paul was only talking about the OT in 2.Tim.3:16, rather than the OT and NT.
There's also an argument that Rev.22:18 refers only to the scroll of Revelation, not the canon of 66 books (of which John's own gospel was likely written afterwards). But that's another story...

so, england squeeze through to the next round with a draw.. the double irony of argentina working their socks off for a draw against sweden, and still failing to make the next round, is delicious..

I went to a Unitarian church today
by crownboy in(wow, simon, did you steal microsoft word software or something?
well, today i did something that in most years past i would have believed would have resulted in me being struck by lightning; i attended a religious service other than the jw's.
this is the first time i've ever been to another religious service.

I took the beliefnet quiz a couple of months ago and got "Confident Believer".
Today I got "Candidate for the Clergy", with the following possible denominations: 1. Orthodox Quaker(100%) 2. Eastern Orthodox(92%) 3. Roman Catholic(92%) 4. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant(92%) 5. Seventh Day Adventist(90%) 6. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants(74%) 7. Orthodox Judaism(61%) 8. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons)(59%) 9. Liberal Quakers(57%) 10. Islam(54%) 11. Jehovah's Witness(50%)
Ah well, novel, very novel.

Does the soul or spirit exist?
by JanH inscience deals with what can be observed, directly or indirectly.
so in one sense, you could say that science is simply not providing any answers to the question about the existence of a soul or spirit component of a human being.. .
that, of course, keeps science polite to religious ideas.. .

Interesting essay, Jan, but I have to take issue with a couple of points. You make a statement that damage to the brain simultaneously damages the soul/spirit, yet provide no supporting evidence. Also, with regards to your car analogy - you've never seen Herbie? You're surely not going to tell me that I imagined that? I tell you, the TV never lies - that car had a soul!!!

Francois:
Maybe we should all be celebrating "Conception day".
Hmmm - when was it then???
Darn, maybe that isn't such a good idea.
