  X-JWs Who are now bible Christians

  hi folks,.

  i'm just sort of taking role call to all those x-dubs who are now brothers and sisters in christ.

  i think it is wise for us to rise up and be counted so that we know who each other are.

  Born and brought up a dub.
  By the grace of God, converted (anointed) 28th June 2001, while a dub elder.
  Taught by the Holy Spirit (including doctrines of Grace and Trinity).
  Joined this site September 2001.
  DA'ed January 6th 2002.
  Started attending the Free Church of Scotland (reformed protestant / Calvinist tradition), although not yet a 5-point Calvinist.
  Baptised 30th January 2002.
  First took Communion in February, and many tims since.

  Being a Christian involves a personal relationship with Christ, not a church.
  Being born-again is essential.
  It is all of grace (undeserved kindness) not works.

  Attendance at church gives an opportuntity for worship of God and fellowship with your spiritual siblings.
  It can be a stepping stone to finding Christ, but so often becomes a very slippery stone if it become the focus, rather than Christ.

  i had an idea that i could build a uk map of everyones location which would show you instantly who is in your area from jwd.. (it might be an idea to do a seperate us one aswell but i'll wait and see if this one takes off first, or if anyone from the us wants to volunteer to do that one).

  (and australia but you are all in the same backyard anyway - literally!!!).

  anyway, all you have to do is post or email me your username and town and i will draw you on the map above which will change gradually to include everyone!.

  I'd be most happy if you'd take Fred off of that location.
  I was visiting the island of South Uist, only a couple of days ago.
  There were no cats to be found on Benbecula!

  You can add me to the highlands of Scotland, but I'm not saying where.

  Big Brother - UK Style

  well here we go in the uk - big brother for the next 64 days.... but here i was watching "have i got news for you", the slaughtering of the presenter for being caught with his pants down etc in the wonderful sunday tabloid "news of the world" last weekend, when the 'phone rings.... my ex-wife, (conversation once a year etc etc), on the telephone, saying look at big brother , its spencer... and yes as i turned over... it was spencer... bear with me guys:-).

  now i can see spencer knocking on doors and giving talks not many moons ago, prior to and after my d/f... yup, big brother's got (to the best of my knowledge) its first ex jw.... interesting watching (and i enjoy big brother as much as eastenders and corrie...) guess i'll watch now:-).

  (spencer, eldest of 3 jw children (surname witheld by me), parents still in the "truth", and regular drinking partners of myself and ex a few years back whilst in the same cong and still only a few miles away..)

  my jw wife wants me to tape dateline for her and she thinks it's all her idea!.

  wow i cant believe it.

  i told my dyed-in-the-wool dub wife that there was an elder, the congregation po in another state, that stood up for the right thing and resigned over a child being molested, and that the story will be covered on dateline.

  Seems to me that if your little ruse works out you should probably sit in the armchair in "shocked silence", as you watch it together.

  Perhaps adopting the occasional goldfish-style dropped jaw technique. You should practice this, in preparation, so that you look genuinely surprised when it provides less than favourable coverage.

  I hope your wife can get beyond merely automatically defending the borg, when she views it.

  Name some practices of the WTS that are'nt bibical

  my personal hell has started since i told my wife i was stepping down and why i was doing so.

  she has barely said 2 sentences to me in the last 24 hours, but i can understand her being upset so i'm trying my best to remain patient.. yesterday afternoon i told my cousin who is also one of my closest friends about my decision.

  we ended up talking about it for more than 4 hours.

  Banning people from celebrating pretty much all usual events except wedding anniversaries.

  Permitting the wearing of wedding rings.

  Concealing anything that might cause public outcry, on the grounds of protecting the reputation of the organization (very candid, huh?).

  Giving missionaries and Bethelites of longer full-time service (regardless of age) privileges like preference of room.

  Intervening in the sexual conduct between marital partners.

  Trying to put a "day and an hour" on the parousia.

  I not only believe in, but have a very personal relationship with my Father, His Son (my Lord and brother) and the Holy Spirit.

  On scripture, I believe that many texts may be used to draw one to Him. These consist of words written by men, but the inspiration was from God. Hence, they may be coloured by the individual authors perception of what was presented to him.

  On gifts of the Spirit, I fully believe in them. I think that the only limiting factor is our imagination, since the Holy Spirit is everywhere and is powerful. That having been said, I have never spoken in tongues.

  On religions and organizations, I believe that many have the potential to unlock spirituality, although some are more dangerous than others.
  As a stepping stone to God and a strengthening aid through association with others, they serve a useful purpose. However, they can be a very slippery stepping stone, as many see them as the end, rather than the means to an end.

  I value Christian liberty, and believe that we are encouraged to works (as fruits) by means of the Holy Spirit, rather than wholey by our own efforts. The conscience is something to be prized, and more is permissable than a rulebook allows. At the end of the day "love" is the law, the whole law. I permit no man to judge me, on that basis, though I will freely apologise if I offend someone.

  Nathan's "force" analogy is probably closer to reality than most realise.

  Objectivity and This Site

  i must say that as a neutral scientific observer of this site--it seems that things are kind of one-sided here.

  i thought this was a board with both devout jws and ex-jws on it.

  on further reflection it appears that this medium of communication should probably be called ex-jw.com.

  I may have this wrong, but I understand that Simon started this site as a place for JW's to meet, since he was still a JW, himself.

  To reiterate someone elses comments (Xander?) - an informed JW is an ex-JW (or very likely to soon become one).

  As for EU - don't you just love pseudo-intellectuals?

  the thought behind the trinity is not so hard to understand or appreciate if you approach if from a philosophical viewpoint.
