Hell yes I was ashamed...
I couldnt fit in anywhere...and because I couldnt really understand the JW doctrine....I didnt really fit in there either.
Life really sucked until I was 19!!!

were you ashamed of being a witness?.
how did you feel about identifing yourself as a jehovahs witness to others?.
i often used to hide it because of the stigma attacthed to it.. was anyone actually proud to be one?

oh man....check this out.. my brother, an active jw, whom i am very close too, called me sometime last year to tell me about the un issue.
i never cared to talk about religion .... most of my family is in and i'm not.
so i boringly reply,'oh yeah'..not really listening.
Stand your ground Terafera...you have done nothing wrong ;)

what brings a smile to your face?
i cant help but smile when my wife laughs, or when my kids play outside.
i also smile when my boy, who is 15 wants to talk to me.
...to watch my oldest daughter in her first band recital playing her sax
...to hear my youngest daughter singing 99 bottles of beer on the wall while driving in the car
...when my daughters gave me a whole bunch of handmade gifts and cards on father's day
my flyers merely said: if as a jehovahs witness, a member of your family has been molested information is available for further information see: www.silentlambs.org or call 1-877-wtabuse.. nothing overtly inflammatory, actually more like a public service announcement.. i guess thats what most of the local organizers and friends thought in my neck of the, woods for the first two days of the district convention!
but once the 'friends' realized that the website i was promoting with my flyers and moving car billboard was not an approved wt site, the powers that be got ... well ... pissed is the word!.
nobody bothered me on friday as i went smiling about my posting flyers on the light and utility poles on the routes to/from the convention site.
Outnfree,
I loved your story...next time you should take some tall guy with you and a ladder and post the ads up so high on the poles that the Dubs cant take them down.
Here is another idea....if we could collect enough money from xjw's on this board...we could rent a billboard space in major city where a convention is being held.

i'm sorry that due to "technical difficulties', last weekend's poll did not appear, but thanks to all those who enquired about why it was not posted.
glad you're enjoying them!
so, time to put your feet up, so to speak, and have some fun with this weekend's poll.
It didnt surprise me one bit....all the changes that are made in the bOrg are justified thru
"new light"...how can one argue with an open rule like that?

.
since jw are not allowed to live together and cannot have sexual relations before they get married are many jw marriages unhappy?
i hear that they think jw marriages are much happier than normal marriages...can anyone verify that?.
I never married a JW...thank God in heaven!!!
Almost did...that would have been the biggest mistake of my life!
Dont get me wrong...she was a nice girl...but we never had a moment alone...we were 19 and she still wasnt allowed to be alone with me. Not even to go the store!
We met an assembly in 1985...and I broke up with her at the assembly in 1986 because we werent allowed to celebrate out 1 year "going steady" anniversary by going out for dinner "alone"...the only time I got to see her was at her house when family was there...
Her parents didnt do her any favors by sheltering her so much...for crying out loud she asked me if oral sex was when people "talked" about sex?!?
Didnt she have health class?
She wound up marrying some dub dude who I'm sure she loves dearly *rolls eyes
Whatever,

it turned out that he was only joking around and they are, in fact, good friends.
silly old me.
Mindfield you are a riot!

Lizard
ok, lets see if i can do this without getting carried away...lol.... allow me to pose a hypothetical situation:.
you have known john and jane for a couple of years now, and so far they appear to be the perfectly happy 'normal' married couple.
they seem totally into each other and when in public usually can't keep their hands off each other.
I would choose "D"....respectfully decline.
It just wouldnt work for me.
does every issue of morality have to be compared with the thinking and teaching of jehovahs witnesses?
simply because you are no longer jehovahs witnesses does that mean that you flaunt all moral authority and engaged in any perverted pleasure that you have a mind to?
because your morality is no longer legislated by a pseudo religious organization does that give you license to engage in all acts of "immorality" and refer to it "as just having fun.
Dutchie, thanks...you didnt offend me...I was just sharing my thoughts with you.
Pierced...yes us ENFP's are a wild bunch...definetly a group that has to be closely watched ;)
