It would be interesting to see more of these letters to the BOE. Scans perhaps?

Society putting out "Want ads" in BOE letters
by sir82 init seems the society has a severe enough shortage of help in some areas that it is asking for help thru all the us boes.. there is one recent letter circulating asking for volunteers who can work on a persian translation team to move to "britain".
elders are to track down anyone who speaks persian & english, and ascertain their willinglness to move to bethel in london to help there.
there's a bunch of the standard "in good standing" questions they are to ask, as well as immigration / citizenship / visa issues to work out.. also, they are looking for programmers who know silverlight & xaml to work on a project for software the rbcs are using.. .

The Four Presidents of the Watch Tower Society
by RayPublisher ini just started reading this book recently.
the terrible things that russell (chapter one) and rutherford (chapter two) did are shocking.
this one is seriously almost as gut wrenching as crisis of conscience.

Yes, among other things it does. I am almost done with chapter three on N. Knorr. There is hundreds of footnotes and they are in the back of the book so I am constantly flipping back and forth and am using a highlighter pen and making notes as I read it's not a "speed read". But eye opening almost as much as COC to me.

I just started reading this book recently. The terrible things that Russell (chapter one) and Rutherford (chapter two) did are shocking. This one is seriously almost as gut wrenching as Crisis of Conscience. There are 94 footnotes in chapter one and almost every one has a specific book or article that documents the creepy things and means spirited nature of Russell. I always kind of felt that he was a good and sincere guy that had his legacy hijacked by Rutherford, but not anymore after reading that chapter.
Good (but hard) stuff if you are still in...

A WORD OF ADVICE TO ALL JWs
by I quit! inif you aren't annointed then why go to the memorial.
you can reject christ's offer in the comfort of your own home.
rent a movie and have some popcorn instead of attending another boring meeting..
-
RayPublisher
Went to memorial tonight it didn't mean much to me like it used to... Gonna celebrate w another brother Monday afternoon, it's still Nisan 14 and we will be partaking. All that have Christ as their mediator are required to do this IMO.

My daughter asked me why we don't go to meetings
by JWinprotest inlast night, completely out of the blue, my 6 year old daughter, asked my wife and i why we don't go to meetings anymore.
she actually said that she misses them.

I can relate to this sooooo much. My 11 year old is starting to notice my fade and I have been dropping comments about questioning things and thinking for ourselves as I can. But my wife who is deeply in the WT would go ballistic if I started doing or saying anything "Anti-Witness" with her child. It's like being torn between keeping the peace in the marriage and keeping my daughter from becoming Captive to a Concept. It sucks.

from a Yahoo e-mail group (I love the "gotta love the gb and the greatest witness the world has ever seen)
by therevealer inwe also just back from our circuit assembly.. co told us that we have 1700 pubs in the circuit and approx 50% are involved this month in pioneer work.
the do said that this is worldwide the greatest shout of praise to jehovah since the angels shouted in applause at jehovah's creative works and that it is the greatest witness the world has ever seen.. you gotta love the governing body for coming up with this arrangement.
and you gotta love the worldwide brotherhood for responding so positively.

Comparing the angels shouting in applause at Jehovah's creative works with lots and lots of bros/sis driving around in the car all afternoon and knocking on mostly empty houses is a bit of a stretch...

May 15th WT - Wives Should be Obedient, Submissive & Not Disagree
by flipper inonce again we received the may 15th " witness only " wt from our lurking jw friend.
even though i've been out for over 7 years and haven't attended in that long - i never cease to be amazed at the arrogance of this patriarchal man pleasing wt society in it's dismissive attitude towards women .
it's horrible.

"Johnny The Bethelite" FRAUD!
by IMPOSTORS ARE DOOMED ini was just over on topix.com, when i see this to a "rick fearon"(?
) kool-aid man thread.
someone noted that rick fearon lost all credibility over his "johnny the bethelite" nonsense.
-
RayPublisher
@Bamidbar - This is true. Rick always qualified his statements and didn't just buy into it. But by the same token, the "Johnny" character was given huge amounts of air time and treated as if he was the real mcoy when credible people (one of whom I know) were telling him that this guy can't be real.

Why doesn't the Watchtower have official video responses to critical Youtube videos?
by sabastious inyoutube has the wonderful functionality of video responses.
i have seen jw members provide some responses and even then not very many.
why hasn't the watchtower utilized this functionality and offer offical responses to their accusers?.
-

@JonathonH - You said "the GB are no longer biblical scholars of any sort, they are watchtower scholars". That is the absolute truth.
When I was there I met most of them- one even taught my pioneer school many years prior to becoming a GB- a very smart guy, but like many of the elders I have known over the years, they spend most of their time studying WT doctrine, policy and procedures- via the study books, flock/shepherd book, letters to the bodies of elders, etc.
THAT is what they become experts of. That is their Bible. When you already think you understand every apsect of the scriptures and can answer any question with certainty, it is under your belt, and then you can concentate on the "real stuff", ie, organizational things.
In that way they have drunk the koolade, yes. But as Ray Franz exposed in his books, they don't actually believe every single doctrinal thing the same- that is a luxury they and only they have- to actually debate these things among themselves and then decide when "new light" can shine upon the rest of the rank and file.
