Just some random photo found online. There is a JWsocial network where you are required to submit a photo of yourself holding a KM so I wondered if I could fake it...
Only spent half an hour on it- if I spent more time it could be made a lot better.

FinchandWeston - I'm sorry you are going through this. They really should just leave you alone. If you want to fight it, I believe you will win, and here's why- Conan is exactly right when he said: "when people have been away for so long, to just leave them alone if something comes up, like the Christmas lights."
By their own elder guidelines, in the Shepherd book (ks10) on page 73 it says that if you have been away from meetings for several years, aren't known as a JW, and don't recognize the authority of the congregation they should hold the matter in abeyance. Here's a scan of the page:
A letter written explaining that their OWN elder book says that they should leave you alone may suffice. Let them know you do not recognize their authority. Advise them to spend time shepherding those that really would appreciate it, like an elderly or sick one, or perhaps they could be spending that time with their families rather than bothering you folks?

Have some (or all) of the anonymous informants that supplied most of the material for The Four Presidents book passed away? There was two or three of them right?
I just really would want to know who they were for a variety of reasons, but of course don't want anyone to get in trouble. They deserve praise for having the courage to even tell some of their stories to Mr. Gruss.

I got that book and read it in detail about a year ago. A lot of unflattering details on Russell, that surprised me. But some of Gruss'es references are dubious and we really don't know for sure on several of the stories.
But no doubt much of it is true. Sounds just like the National Enquirer!

Just watched The Shunning and it is very well done and illustrates the wrongness of this practice. At one point the Amish elders even quote one of the WTS's favorite verses, "Not even eating with such a one" and then when she comes to dinner the next day after being shunned they have a little table set up off to the side where she is expected to eat. Very cruel.
One small thing is that the parents cave pretty fast and start talking to her by the end of the movie, which seemed a little weak. But it has to have a happy ending lol.

Thinking about disassociating yourself - STOP!...at least for a moment
by rory-ks in(this recent forum post about a letter of disassociation encouraged me to post this new topic.
it's been sitting in my drafts folder for a little while, but now is as good a time as any.).
my suggestion would be, try not to go down the route of disassociation.

Moshe - Some fade so that they will not compel other brothers and sisters to follow the unscriptural practice of extreme shunning. Some do it for their own mental health, and feel it is the best path for them. Your theory about fading has some merit, and makes sense for many though.
But using the words "Being a wimpy fader" tells us a lot about you Mr. Moshe.
If you think fading is bad, fine. But calling names and labeling a person that fades as a coward isn't helping, it's only piling on more guilt and shame...sorta like what the WT does huh?
I'm curious:
Will you apologize for your comment, or will you just be "wimpy"? Or perhaps you will lash out at me and take your revenge in that way. If it will make you feel better, slap away.

Theocratic Warfare is easier with the advent of cyber warfare.
by Momma-Tossed-Me inwith the advent of cyberwarfare on the rise among nations with little to no reprecussions because of the hidden nature of the enemy the wtbts should be building an aresonol of software.
surely they are doing this to combat enemies of the true religion.
