Another Newbie
by Skinnedsheep ini recently came to the realization that the organization is corrupt and is false.
my story is similar to many i think.
i was raised in the religion, pioneered and served as an elder for a number of years.

Welcome SkinnedSheep I was in the same boat as you a few years ago...I botched the "share what I've learned with the wife" part though and ultimately it killed the marriage. Well I tried anyway...
But I'm so damn happy now three years later (from my wakeup point) and it just gets better and better...
I'd love to help any time/way if I can- lemme know. ;)

The "Sign of the last days" and 2 Timothy 3:1-5
by EdenOne ini've just published on my website a new article: the "sign of the last days" and 2 timothy 3:1-5 (click to visit).
it contains a critical analysis of the context of 2 timothy 3:1-5 and a refutation of the connection with matthew 24:3, and therefore, of the expression "sign" + "last days".. the article is divided in the following parts:.
introductionthe composite nature of the expression "sign of the last days"the context of 2 timothy 3:1-5the message of 2 timothy 3:1-5two fallacies about the "last days"conclusiondue to its lenght, i won't post it in full here, only the introduction:.

Great article, totally debunking the "last days" myth that WT and other fundamentalist movements perpetuate.

Watchtower tricks and deceptions
by slimboyfat inone of the first things that shocked me when learning the truth about the truth was how the organisation uses tricks and deception to fool their own membership.
i guess we all have our own favourite examples, like the quotes in the publications that make outside sources look like they oppose the trinity/support the nwt/disprove evolution, when in context the intent of the original source is quite different.
or the grossly exaggerated experiences delivered at conventions: if we happen to know the person or were present at the events described we know it's often garbage what they say on stage, more closely resembling a desired script emanating from headquarters than anything that actually happened to real witnesses in the circuit or district.

Slimboy, I have a Q re:
" when some encyclopedias are compiled they may ask JWs at the branch to provide information for their own entries. Hardly a great practice for a supposed impartial reference work, but apparently it does happen."
Do we have another source to confirm that the encyclopedia simply parroted what the WT told them? How do we establish this as fact, like the fakery on the earthquakes? Or can we?

Celebrating my daughter's birthday last year was HUGE. It was so fun, so liberating and she got some fantastic gifts too.
Mainly though it helped her to see that the WT is full of sh_t!

Flipper said: " It's always been amazing to me how these elders feel they just have an alleged " God given right " to drop by our houses unnannounced or uninvited."
This makes me think...why can't I go randomly knock on their door some evening say around 7:30pm and ask if I could talk to them about something important? And start reading some print outs of WT literature quotes?? Here's a couple I might share:
--------------------
“The indisputable facts, therefore, show that the “time of the end” began in 1799; that the Lord’s second presence began in 1874.” -- The Watchtower, March 1, 1922 page 73
“God [may soon cause] a comet [to be] captured by the Earth.. [to] bring about a radical change in earth's climatic conditions and transform the surface of our planet into a paradise, wherein disease and death will be no more.” - The Golden Age 1926 June 16 p.583

Moving out, away and starting a new post JW life
by OneDayillBeFree inrecently at my last meeting, an older brother "in good standing" got disfellowshipped.. sitting only two seats away from him, i saw as he burst into tears as lifelong friends and family began their shunning and immediate gossip in the form of whispers came up from above the brothers and sisters in the kingdom hall.
i felt like giving him a hug and telling him that it was going to be okay and that whatever the reason for his disfellowshipment was, it didnt matter and that god still loved him but before i could muscle up enough courage to do so, he stood up in tears and left.. i shed a few silent tears for him.
i didn't see anyone else do the same.. it was at that moment that i realized without a doubt that living this way is just not worth it at all.. so i've thought about it long and hard and now i just want to move far away and just start new again.

just got an email from a jw friend
by outofthelionsden inhi guys, so i got an email form an old jw friend that i haven't seen in a long time , i moved away to another state a few years ago.
so she sent me an email to tell me that she found out that i had left "jehovahs organization" and that she has been crying for weeks because she always looked up to me ( i was always that kid that pioneered & always had demonstrations and experiences in the district and circuit assemblies) she said that she's not judging me but that she cant believe i would do that , that i know better and that there is no reason ever to leave and hopes that we wake up before its to late..... i have to respond but i know she wont hear ttatt there deep in, so any suggestions would be appreciated on what to respond.. ( im so heart broken and tiered at this point.
i know she is doing it out of love, she's actually the only person that has contacted me, not even my family has done that.

outofthelionsden - Your friend obviously cares about you and IMO deserves a reply. A lot of good advice has been given already- one way that a note that might be helpful could be: (If true in your case of course)
"Thank you for reaching out to me and communicating, I appreciate it. I have not left God, and have not abondoned my faith in him and his Son. So many have shunned me without ever hearing what happened, choosing to believe rumors instead. If you want to talk about it with an open mind, then I would be happy to share what I've learned with you.
Regardless, I value our friendship and my door is always open.
With Kind Regards,
[your name]"
