  londo has written a great article (imo) about how apostates are a figment of the jw imagination, fomented and concocted by none other than the watchtower.

  not necessarily the dictionary definition of the word apostate, which simply means a person who leaves their religion, for by that definition everyone who leaves any religion to become a jw is an apostate.

  no, it is jw conception of the apostate, both as an individual and as a group that is imaginary.. .

  the new wt 2013 june tells kids that they might get to study with a pirate someday!

  perhaps johnny depp will be resurrected for just that purpose?.

  @ Wha happened - Very good point- They must have their Emmanuel Goldsteins and other scapegoats, and that does make them feel VERY SPECIAL. I rememeber praying to Jee-ho-vah and thanking him for being born into the Witnesses.... UGGGHH such a deluded way to think.

  in case any of you wondered why those two poor women who were attacked by the pit bull and probably ignored warning signs of a dag being in the yard and posted signs went to the door anyway.. here it is from the latest april 2013 km front page titled "take as a pattern the prophets-jonah".

  paragraph #3 "when jonah realized that his bad decision had jeopardized the lives of the mariners, he was willing to sacrifice his life.

  (jonah 1:3, 4, 12) later, when fulfilling his commission in nineveh, he walked deep into the heart of the city, perhaps looking for a suitable location to proclaim the judgment of jehovah.

  How long did you keep rooting for Walter White?

  isn't this guy like the greatest anti-hero of all time?.

  as the series wears on it is getting more and more difficult to sympathise with the guy.

  but i must admit i stuck with him pretty far.

  The Shield had similar characters- likeable, heroic cops that gradually got dirtier and dirtier until you were forced to reluctantly stop liking them. They cut corners, skimmed off the top, but caught lots of bad guys and did more good than harm. Then they gradually break more and more bad.

  The show creator said that by the end he wanted to illustrate how easy it is to get caught up in something and fall down that slippery slope...to like a character that is essentially a thug and a bad person.

  shunning wrecks families

  thread started to avoid going off topic elsewhere.. this matter of shunning---my story.. i made the decision to resign from the jw religion in my early twenties--i'm 65 now.

  i knew i would never deny any of mine a blood transfusion--just to appease this religion --and its deity.. my jw wife had just had our first child--a girl---and we went on over the next 7 years to have 2 more planned for kids---both boys.

  i like to think i was a good dad--they meant everything to me.. i hold up my hand and admit i caused the break up of that marriage---my wife stayed in the religion--and--apparently it was announced in the kh i couldnt be d/f'd---as i hadnt been a jw for years---so they said i was an apostate.. fast forward a few years--into the mid 80's---i had remarried--and led a relatively normal life.

  I just got into a friendly but heated debate with the person from facebook. I could easily make an entire post about it lol...

  Some choice quotes from the exchange:

  "I don't remember them teaching that. So again it's just some bad ppl in the organization, just as any other."

  "I've been out for over 5 years so I'm good but I don't feel the need to slander them."

  Out for 5 years, but mentally.... STILL IN!
