What came first? Atheism or the "apostasy" in JW terms?
by Silent_Scream infor those who are atheists: did you become an atheist while being a jw, then left, or did you not view them as the true religion and left, but still believed in god/bible, but later turned to atheism?.

NewChapter seems to be an exception. She (?) has stated numerous times she was essentially an atheist as a child.
It seems to be a process for most. For some, there is a "crystalizing moment."

Exactly Still Thinking. I had never even read that text before that. That must be one of the texts that tryed to get covered up.....
The theist argument must deal with God as Creator of all.
1.) God is Creator.
2.) All things found in nature are made by him, directly or indirectly, including predatory and parasitic animals.
3.) God created predation/parasitism.
We rationalists argue:
1.) Theists posit God is love.
2.) Predation/parasitism is from God and is cruel.
3.) Therefore, God is not love.
I think I'm moving away from deism. Even that position seems untenable.

For me, it was left believing in the Bible (apostate) and then atheist (although atheists are considered apostates anyways). Why? Do you think the order matters?

Can I introduce another "creation"? I'm itching. This one already has a YWHW creationist slant to help you out Sab. Creation for a "fallen world".

No creationists have given a good explanation for predation/parasitism, IMO. God's "design" is paradoxically magnificent and horrifying all at once.

Ergonomics, functionality, and aesthetics, yes. Religious connotation, no.
BTW, lazy bast....ion, December 8, 2001 Awake! "Is Feng Shui appropriate for Christians?" I have it in Spanish.... so I'll only give you the gist.
As long as you don't use a magnet to arrange your furniture or try to use the configuration of your furniture for good luck, you're free to do it.

Animal sin?
by jambon1 inthe doctrine of sin = death.. .
if it is the case that the reason people die is due to the original sin of the man adam (romans 5:12) then why do animals also get sick and die of the same illnesses as humans?
did an animal transgress in a similar manner?.

Did an animal transgress in a similar manner?
Animals started eating other animals. This is a boo-boo in Jehovah's eyes.
There is an interesting exception I found on Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximum_life_span
One species of jellyfish, Turritopsis nutricula, reverts to a sexually immature stage after reproducing, rather than dying as in other jellyfish. Consequently the species is considered biologically immortal and has no maximum lifespan.

So what do your Jehovah's Witness friends and loved ones think of the generation teaching?
by garyneal inafter the little skit at the last assembly where one brother was asking another for understanding about the generation teaching i thought, "wow, these people will believe anything the watchtower tells them.
" the 'more mature brother' practically said verbatim everything the watchtower said as his explanation.
evidently, this is one of the sources of the increased 'murmuring' that the talked warned against.. so, has anyone brought this up to their witness friends and/or family?

It's an embarrassing subject, to say the least. The logic used to defend it.... is as illogical as it gets.

Tendencies toward fanaticism
by Terry inin a "cause and effect" world detached from logical fallacy we probably would have an enormous drop in fanatical thinking and behavior.. but, we don't.. some of us fall prey to fallacious thinking.
we fail to sort out the facts.
we group our "cause" and our "effects" out of synch with actual data.. .

I don't there there will ever be a world without fanaticism. Sorry.
