  a pawn shop is a good working model for the doctrine of grace.. if we examine the model we can clearly view the elements of a bond and how the transaction works.. then, we can apply what the model illustrates for understanding the metaphor used in the new testament.. .

  in a pawn we have:.

  Life isn't just about legalism. You have only taken one aspect of life, and elevated it above the greatest aspect.

  Were it not for love, God wouldn't have even created anything. He didn't need to. He was and is "complete" in every sense.

  Why do parents pay their stupid children's bail (for jail)? Out of justice? No. The kid deserves to be in jail by his own merits. But, parents love their children, and do so out of mercy, so that the children won't suffer a horrible fate.

  Your analogy fails in the highest and strongest point of morality and life.

  Kinesiology

  oh gosh, i could be opening up a can of worms with this one, but.. what the hell!.

  it seems to me that there is a disproportionate amount of jws who are involved in kinesiology or hk (health kinesiology).

  i mean, if i asked the average guy or gal where i worked if putting a crystal on your bellybutton, moving your arm up and down and charging $100 to cure your ills made any sense they would say, hell no!.

  I used Homeopathic remedies when I was growing up. I went to a sister's house, and she would place a pill on my lap and try to pry my fingers apart.

  When I first heard of this, I was creeped out and thought it was spiritistic. Once I tryed it, it was soo cool that just placing any substance on my lap would have the effect of weakening my grip if it was noxious to me.

  She also did iridology on me, and found things that I had not spoken to her about previously.

  So long as you are balanced about medicine and remedies, it doesn't hurt to try anything.

  Acupuncture is cool too.

  I'd love to see such a wiki on Steve Hassan's "freedomofmind.com" domain with contributions from all over the ex-cult spectrum.

  I've noted too, that Hassan's website could do with chart comparisons. There isn't much info on his site on why JW's are problematic. He also has many broken and, in my opinion, useless links. He doesn't even link here!

  Oops, hit enter too fast. Not going to say much, but think about it.

  • A "Bible study" to a possible convert is done with "What does the Bible really teach" book.
  • The 5 meetings consist of heavy use of literature such as the:
  • 1.) Congregation Book study, which uses any of the books publised by WT
  • 2.) Theocratic Ministry School's use of "Benefit" book (although this section does use the Bible the most, as it includes the home Bible reading, yet many people comment from a WT comment anyways),
  • 3.) Service meeting using "Our Kingdom Ministry" which in turn usually directs us to the "Yearbook", "Benefit", and "Organized to do God's will"
  • 4.) The Public talk that, while not based on publications per se, uses an outline given by the Society
  • 5.) The Watchtower study, which I need not even elaborate on.

  • Preaching is done through literature as well. Magazines, tracts, books, etc.
  • WT encourages "research" with their publications, such as Insight for the Scriptures, among other resources.

  It cannot be denied that the Bible isn't used, but think about the heavy use of literature, and how that influences what you think what the Bible says.

  Also think how the use of this literature binds you to their organisation. The Bible isn't enough, sufficient on its own. It needs interpretation through them.

  Just something to think about.

  i was just thinking today at work about the whole ngo thing and got pretty deep in thought about it.

  i remember reading about it and i remember reading on a pro jw site i think it was jehovah uk or something like that.

  on the pro jw site they said that when the society signed and joined as an ngo there were no requirements to pledge that you will uphold the ideals of the un etc etc.
