Nebeska Nada, we've all been through a similar situation. It can get difficult, but it's not the answer.
We are here for you. Let's talk.

in another thread i wrote: i didn't left the jw's and don't plan to do so.
I don't blame Lazarus, because I felt like that too. It was hard for me to come to the decision I made, but I had no choice. I might have even opted for fading, but I live with my mother and that would just draw out the pain.
It's like they say. Sometimes you just have to rip off the bandaid. If you can fade and keep living a lie, that's all you buddy. But, I had to be true to myself and see that I never really believed in this.
i'd love to know what you guys think of this.
brother jackson (from the governing body) had this "neat" analogy at the very end of the convention.
he said; "what if you were watching a football game on tv, and it was the trojans against the fighting irish, and it's been a good game.
Here's another I heard, not too long ago (probably last year).
The speaker spoke about a boxing match and compared it to the world.
The JW's are in a boxing match everyday, going out to work and being "influenced by this world".
They take their hits, and just as soon as they are about to colapse, the round ends and they take a break.
The break, or end of the round, are the meetings, publications, prayer, field service, etc.
They come out rejuvenated, ready to hit the world.
The assemblies are a "big rejuvenation". Be thankful for this assembly. Wish we could stay here forever and ever. Too bad we have to
go back to the real world.
The end.
What other violent sports are they going to make analogies out of? Prison fights? Russian roullette?
i'm thinking about including the following in an online essay but wish to make sure it's fair and accurate.
any baptized member who uses tobacco and cannot quit ( deemed unrepentant) will be disfellowshipped.
be aware that there is no stated minimum age limit and i've heard of children as young as 11 who've been baptized.
You are going a bit over the top with the statements. Fear and guilt are used to separate the kids from the families. There are no actual rules or requirements that enforce what you have stated.
Cutting off from the Christian congregation does not involve immediate death, so family ties continue. Thus, a man who is disfellowshipped or who disassociates himself may still live at home with his Christian wife and faithful children. Respect for God's judgments and the congregation's action will move the wife and children to recognize that by his course, he altered the spiritual bond that existed between them. Yet, since his being disfellowshipped does not end their blood ties or marriage relationship, normal family affections and dealings can continue.
The situation is different if the disfellowshipped or disassociated one is a relative living outside the immediate family circle and home. It might be possible to have almost no contact at all with the relative.

its no different to the isrealites learning Gods laws through Moses
Unfortunately, we dont all have a direct line to communiate with God. He has always used a specific channel whether it was Noah, Enoch, Moses, the prophets, Jesus or the Apostles.
having the bible is not enough....it needs to be explained.
Well, I would say it is different.
If I am an Isrealite in the time of Moses, and I just finished crossing the parting Red Sea, you bet I'm going to listen to what Moses says about God.
I recall it being said on more than one occassion that "We know that the Watchtower is more important than the Bible :
- 'Christendom' has been reading the Bible for centuries, and it has done them no good!"
Bill.
Lol. Then why didn't God also make the Watchtower along with the Bible from the beginning?
i am finally on board after lurking here for quite some time.
i have been impressed and depressed by what i have seen here and hope i can add something meaningful.
a little personal history: i was born the son of the then "congregation servant" and his wife.
Welcome! Glad to have ya.
another ex-dub was talking to me about nutrition and healthy lifestyle, natural remedies, etc.
i've been getting into it.. i came across dr. fuhrman.
he's an authority (board certified family physician).
Any pervasive way of life has a possibility of becoming cultic. It's all about how far you are willing to go in your "dedication" to it. The more you are willing to do for it, the more potential it has of becoming dangerous.
Recognize that you are doing this for health benefits, and that in no way are you obligated to continue doing this or imposing it upon others.
Enjoy your healthy new lifestyle!
When I went to help an elder give a study recently, we used the book "Keep in God's love". This study has been studying for over 15 years.
We studied the appendix, and began on the first topic, "Disfellowshipping". The elder said that the faithful slave had made the provision of allowing DF people talk to their family living in the house. That the Bible made no such provision. That we must be thankful for this decision. Point being that the literature (Society) was detailing the instructions on DF, not the Bible.
When we left, I asked the elder why he had studied that section with him, considering he has not gotten baptised. Of what importance could that be to the study, to make him progress spiritually.
He says, "We must finish the book. It's what the Society wants."
I know I've heard expressions like these before, but I was shocked it came from him, a brother I used to consider so spiritual.
It's obvious the literature's purpose is to direct one to the Society, ultimately. The literature is the final authority, because the Society is the final authority.
well i have been lurking for the past couple of weeks and have finally decided to create an account.
just wanted to introduce myself and relate my life story in the borg, specifically from the past few weeks- which i think has been a lot easier than many on the board.
anyway, my mum began to study when i was 10 (2005) and since then has been babtized; she strongly believes it is the truth.
Welcome Iseenow!
It's so great you didn't get baptised. Once you get dunked, there is no going back....
In my discussion with the elders I had, I also brought up WT vs. Camping. They pretty much stayed quiet on that subject or tryed to change it.
A good example you can find of false prophecy is to crack any old Awake! magazine (pre 1990 I think) and look in the 2nd or 3rd page.
Where it says "Why Awake! is published", you can find that it promised that the world would end before the generation that saw the events of 1914 would pass away.
Go to any newer Awake!, and it changed the wording to say that soon the Creator will end the world soon.
Stick to your guns, to logic, and never look back! You have your whole life ahead of you. Don't waste in on something you can never believe.
What would the JWs do if you said you would study but only if you exclusively used the Bible.
I have heard of some intelligent, prepared individuals that give studies with the Bible only. However, I suppose they must walk their study through all the necessary doctrine, so that they may be able to answer the million questions posed at baptism.
And obviously, they must accept the organisation.
The Kingdom Ministry of November 1990, pg.1 says (translated from Spanish), "They (bible study) must recognize that their identifying with Jehovah's organisation is necessary for their salvation. That's why, as soon as a bible study is established, we must begin to direct the person to the organisation."
