I totally agree. I hope this site never ceases to be. Or at least reincarnates.

Omens, signs, moon, sun and stars and vomit
by Aussie Oz injust finished reading a novel.
a nice well written fiction called "stonehenge" by bernard cornwell.. a story of ancient tribes trying figure out the will of the gods.
the priests who claim to be the go-betweens, the power hungry cheiftans that bribe the priests and the misled fools who slave there lives away for promised and never delivered blessings of the gods.. certainly made me rethink the whole role of religion all over again.. nothing more than power.

Who designed cancer?
by snare&racket inone thing i regret, is not listening to the questions in my head whilst a jw.
one i didn't ask until years after leaving was....who designed disease?
of course the first thing to realise is the complexity of disease, the histology, pathology and aetiology.

BOTR, that is truly sad. When one sees these things happening and God is nowhere to be found, we can at least console ourselves in that we as humans try to give those children a second chance. And, even though many times they die, at least some children can be cured and live a happy, satisfying life.

Circuit Accounts Servants Confesses how the SCAM WORKS!!
by JT inyes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.
i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.
as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

How would you have explained this scripture as a JW or even as a Christian?
by StoneWall inexodus 32:14 [nwt] " and jehovah began to feel regret over the evil that he had spoken of doing to his people".
this is taken from the new world translation but it is worded very closely the same in american standard, king james version and a couple other translations.
why do they refer to the "evil he had spoken of doing to his people"?
-

Well, I could be argued that since "Jehovah's people" were the ones that ultimately wrote the account, they sure would have seen it as an evil from their perspective.
You could check out this forum here, where we are discuss precisely that text, albeit with the focus on why Jehovah changes his mind.
In fact, I am going to submit your question, as it has not been posed yet.

Was the Bible written for two opposite audiences?
by Fernando init seems the bible can be interpreted using either a religious or a spiritual framework with opposite results.. i have been pondering if this was by design, to effect a separation between the sheep (wheat) and weeds (goats).. does this mean that the bible is effectively booby-trapped against spiritually blind (physical, natural, carnal, legalistic, moralistic, ethnocentric and gnostic) supremacist religionists who would get the wrong end of the stick and show themselves to be children of the "god of religion" and not children of the "god of abraham"?.
it would seem a religious framework results in blindness and (supremacist) behaviour common to the ruling religious watchtower hierarchy and clergy.
essentially "christless christianity".. it would seem that a spiritual framework results in the opposite - social justice, open mindedness, liberal and generous orientation, inclusivity .

Fernando, you're working with a premise. The Bible is clear about religion. Once faith and all that good stuff had come into play, the authorities and structures came into place. Ergo, in Israel you have the priest class, the tribes, the king, judges, etc.
In Christianity, you have the Apostles, bishops, and ministerial servants? (I don't know another term for this) Religion and faith are interchangable. When many of the same faith gather together, one needs a way to control things so as to not get out of order. This is were the structures come in and, voila, religion! It is always the same progression. Faith inevitably leads to religion.
