What would be the best Zelda game so far? I'd haven't played them all, but I'd have to say that dungeon designwise and replayability goes to Ocarine of Time. I haven't played Twighlight Princess and I'd love to see how the new Wii Zelda will be.

Question... Does an elder lose his privileges if his 18 year old son stops attending the KH?
by Alfred ini'm starting to get a clearer picture of what's been happening with my nephew who has recently decided that he no longer wishes to be a part of "the lie"... it appears that my nephew may have been forced to move out by his elder father who was afraid of possibly losing his privileges by having a non-believing son under his roof.
that is the impression i'm getting by talking to my sister (his aunt who is not a jw).. while i try to figure this out... does anyone know if that is a valid possibility in general?
i'm referring to the possibility of an elder losing his privileges because his son no longer wishes to be a jw but still lives under the same roof... any insight by recently faded elders would be much appreciated.... thanks.

To be fair, Alfred, your BIL probably has pressure to remain an elder due to lack of elders (are lack of elders a problem in his area?)
Still, it is sad that the religion prompts people to put the religion over their families first. Sad indeed.

It is, because of a scripture to hold your own household down.
1 Timothy3
4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full [a] respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)

That is absolutely uncalled for. Violence is never the solution.

The prognosis is 'terminal'
by AK - Jeff init always has been.
we are all going to die.. .
how did it affect you though, when that reality set in after leaving the lies of religion?.

Jeff, I think that deep-down no one ever really believed they were never going to die. The only thing I felt I had to look forward to was, that even when I died, I could be resurrected.
The promise of the resurrection, while not being true, was a way of coping with the seemingly grim reality. Maybe that's why people want to believe and hang on for so long. They prefer their own secure view, as opposed to reality.
All hell will break loose if you mess with their perception.

Tater-T, I feel you with the unforgivable sin. It the sole doctrine that held me in for so long. I was obsessive about it.
Don't fear. With time and profound investigation, you can reach a satisfying conclusion (at least in regards to that doctrine) and be free of it.
Welcome!

Watchtower: DEATH is their Value What about the Laws of Noah?
by Terry inlife is the greatest value.. for ordinary humans self-preservation is the beginning of all other values.. without life no other values are even possible.. religiously speaking, this is especially true!.
a dead person cannot worship a living god.
when death becomes a valuable purpose it exposes a core insanity.. .

Wobble, I'm not arguing for the WT stance. Their flip-floppery on their own defeats any credibility the doctrine may have. To be fair, the whole concept of the sanctity of blood is bull if you don't believe in the inerrancy of the bible, which I don't.
However, the christians of that time refused to eat blood, even under penalty of death. It is important to note how they viewed the eating of blood.
The WT leaders can come up with their own version/interpretation and say that to imitate the faithful example of those early christians, one must follow suit with their made-up policy of rejecting bloodtransfusions.

Serious discussion: Why our Brain cannot take us to God
by Terry inwe have brains and can think.. when we talk about god we leave behind material, physical sensible "things".
it is the voice of intellect not brain.
the proof is in the pudding.. the voice of god would not be mans voice.. intellect is our vehicle and it is not the atoms of a meat brain, nor vegetables nor poetry.

So, we must be the living proof of having had contact with God.... or what is beyond our highest conception of reality.
Well, what of those that had 'contact' yet display no improvement? What of the homeless with an IQ of 210 that doesn't apply it?
That falls squarely on us, don't you think?

First off the most important question, does God exist? I think maybe. But, let's says yes for now. And, you seem to be refering to YHWH(Moses reference), so let's go with that too.
Why couldn't our brain take us to God? Just because we are confined, limited to the 'sum of our parts' does not mean he wouldn't understand. If you accept God, you accept he created us (whether directly or through evolution... who cares) and accepts our limitations.
"The voice of intellect, not brain." True, to the extent that how we express and understand further would help others so, those with limitations (including ourselves). But, that's the beautiful part. Remember your experience with the catatonic elderly? They needed the physical man to reach the imperceptible divine, if only for a moment. The preacher could never be God, but he did well in transmitting him, don't you think?
