What Catholics mean is that scripture, taken in its whole, does not lead to error but leads to a truer understanding of our relationship with God. This is true when, and only when, the tradition and teaching of the Church are taken into account. The claim of truth is limited to God's plan for human salvation. - Sulla
Ahh... here we go at the heart of the matter. Catholicism is tradition, plain and simple.
Since Adam and Eve weren't real, what exactly do humans need salvation for? What are we to be "saved" from?

Jwfacts, Why Do You Equate Miracles With Magic?
by Recovery ini have a question for the author of the website jwfacts.
as i was reading the sparlock article, i couldn't help but notice something seriously wrong:.
"the bible abounds in vivid fantasy, such as its many celestial descriptions, or the portrayal of warring kingdoms with imaginary beasts.. the sparlock message is confusing, as much for an adult as for a child, as the bible shows that god's followers practice magic, even if they are usually referred to as miracles.

No, King Solomon, I do not believe miracles occur in 2012, but I'm sure magic occurs.
Let's get started on debunking the underlying superstitions you hold. I've yet to see anything supernatural for myself. The only "proof" I've ever had are second-hand accounts. That's not a good sign for magic nor miracle.... If you have any experience you would like to share... by all means.
Now, this is reality TV at its best. This month, Indians were glued to their television as India’s leading tantrik or black magician Pandit Surinder Sharma tried repeatedly to kill atheist Sanal Edamaruku first with a death-causing tantra and then later with the “ultimate destruction ceremony” on live TV. This display was the result of a high-ranking government official Uma Bharati (former chief minister of the state of Madhya Pradesh) accusing her political opponents of using tantrik to cause disasters in her life.

The plurality of belief in God/Gods. If God is just, righteous, the defender of all that is good, why allow such a massive "operation of error" go unchecked? Why not intervene? Why the suffering?
Prayer doesn't work, for anyone. All one has to do is believe, then prayer becomes "real".
I lost faith in the Bible. Adam and Eve, the Flood, Jesus referring to these are real events. It all crumbles down. There is no such thing as salvation, sin, Satan, God, etc. Life makes a lot more sense without trying to justify it with the miraculous intervention of invisible deities that are unprovable.

Believe it or not, another brief elder encounter yesterday...
by sd-7 init was another elder from my judicial committee, came up to me after i'd strapped my daughter into the car.
two things that struck me as different were (1) he didn't feel a need to bring a second elder along with him as if something that required two witnesses was going to be said by someone who'd been df'd for two years and 99.9% absent from meetings as well, and (2) he actually seemed genuinely friendly.
he simply asked if i was planning to come to the meetings again anytime soon.

Didn't really need to vent about it this time, just thought it was worth mentioning since I started talking about myself again lately. I do wonder when the Mrs. is going to find out about sd-7. I suppose it'll probably nuke our marriage if she ever does. I've said some pretty bad things about her in the past, that I would rather have kept to myself in hindsight. Well, it could be for the best anyway if that were to happen, sad as it is to say that. I've often wondered if anyone I know actually knows I'm on here, but none so far have brought it to my attention. I imagine things would get pretty ugly if they knew. At this point, though, how much more ugly can there be? The bombs dropped years ago, the madness is over now. As long as I don't strike the match, the flames won't get too hot and might even die off on their own, who knows? Ha! - sd-7
Good luck man. How would you feel without her? That is a serious question I have to contemplate myself about my family. It may be happening real soon....

Were Adam and Eve created with immune systems?
by Knowsnothing inhey!
yeah you, apologists.
god created adam and eve perfect, right?

Hey! Yeah you, apologists. God created Adam and Eve perfect, right? With the ability to live forever? The earth was perfect as well, right? Everything that would ever be needed was put into it... The WT and the Bible claim that "death will be no more" and "no more sickness, death" etc. (Revelation 21:3,4). This was the original plan. Everything was spotless, perfect. No blips in the system.
Oh, now here come Adam and Eve after the Fall. They will either get sick, or they will die of old age. So... God provisionally puts in them an immune system? Or was that immune system always there? Why would Adam and Eve need an immune system in a place where no sickness or disease existed?

Loosie, let's start with this.
Just because your jw has a jew friend, doesn't make that jew an authority on Biblical scholarship automatically. Credentials?

Rabbit, my condolences for the passing of your mom. I honestly don't know what I would do if I faced that situation in which my mother decided against a blood transfusion... I would want to keep her, but I also feel a duty to respect her choice, no matter how wrong I think it is. If I overstepped it, I know I would loose her anyways.
