Nope she isn't disfellowshipped. This happened several months ago. No more meetings with her either. She is a widow with a teenage boy, who lost her husband in a terrible farming accident. She hasn't gone around trying to talk others into leaving, nothing. I know that just because you have done nothing wrong doesn't stop them from disfellowshipping, but in her case they have done nothing. Of course she hasn't heard from any of her so-called witness friends.

Good Answer to question of "Disassociate?&...
by Lollylou ina friend of mine was telling me about what happened when the elders came to talk to a witness who had decided to start going to southeast christian church.
it was one of the best responses i have ever heard and wanted to share it with you.. when they asked her if she would write a letter disassociating herself from the watchtower organization.
her response was "why would i want to do that?

Ida Eisenhower and Jehovah's Witnesses
by Kenneson inmarley cole in 1955 wrote "jehovah's witnesses the new world society," which includes a photocopy of a letter ida eisenhower wrote in 1943 to j.w.
lawson of long island, n.y. therein, she stated that she had been in the truth since 1896 and naomi engle who stayed with her was also a witness.
since she died the next year, mrs. eisenhower apparently died as a faithful jehovah's witness.

I remember reading the book over thirty some odd years ago when I was just becoming a witness. It was one of the turning points to becoming a witness. I was so impressed that a "worldly" source could even identify "God's organization". This was a source of information other than the WTBTS that was pointing me to JW's.
I didn't find out that it was written by a witness until years later.

When they asked her if she would write a letter disassociating herself from the Watchtower Organization. Her response was "Why would I want to do that? I am a Christian and as such I love all people. Why would I ever want to disassociate myself from my friends? No, I believe to write a letter of disassociation would be very unchristian and something I would never do." Needless to say the elders had no defense for that. Maybe this would help someone being faced with this situation.

District Convention - Portland Maine
by proandcon in"thrilling convention"...only took notes of comments / observations not including:.
- typical "gloom and doom" (real heavy since 9/11).
- "do more" (especially as some one of a kind robotic drones demonstrate).

That is one memory I am not sure I want to revisit. Assemblies were always gossip central and it never failled that somebody had to have an elders meeting afterwards.
It sounds like the same old same old. The only differance is damage control (i.e. Satan is controlling the media).

The Watchtowers Motive: Greed
by metatron inhitler wasn't motivated by a desire for riches.
he was driven by greed all the same: a greediness.
for power, the desire for absolute control of fellow humans.

I think greed is part of it, fear another (fear of losing control), pride (they don't want to admit they are wrong), selfishness (they only think of how things effect them). ("They" being the GB/organization)
Looking from the outside of the borg now, it is so easy to see the very huge shortcomings of it. It is hard to see why everyone can't. I guess that is because the one thing they are very good at is brainwashing tactics. They cover all the bases when they indoctrinate people into the organization.

YES!!!!!! Shunning has backfired!!
by Dawn ini was df'd a number of years ago.
my parents never shunned me - they didn't feel that df'ing broke the family ties.
but when my brothers or uncle were in town i was "allowed" to come visit at certain times when their other jw friends would not be around.

I am so happy for you as a Mom to have had your son not only stand by you, but to stand up for you!! What a great thing.
I am previledged to have a son also who stood up for me and also by me when I was disfellowshipped. Michael was always a very loving and affectionate son. He would always save me a seat at the meetings when I was df'd. He would hug me when he saw me come in and even put his arm around me as we sang and hold my hand when we prayed at the meeting. Michael lived on his own at this time and was 22 and a devoted JW. After one such meeting, an elder approached Michael and told him if he didn't stop being so "affectionate" to his mother that the elders would view him as condoning my wrong doing (I remarried after my divorce without giving the elders any proof of adultery) and he could be DF'd too. Michael told him no one could tell him not to love and respect his mother, and that the Bible encouraged us to love and honor our parents, no ifs ands or buts about it. Michael never went back to the KH. He wrote a letter to the elders explaining how unchristian their behavior was. He proceeded to devour "outside" knowledge and investigate the Bible independently. He just graduated from the Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville.
GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!!!!! Congratulation on doing such a great job on your son and to your son for being a strong independent thinker!!

WT Fortifies Its Firewall
by belbab ina friend asked me to accompany him to the district assembly held this past weekend in our area.
in the talk at 11:40 am sunday, entitled be like jeremiah--fearlessly proclaim the word of god, as others have posted on this board, a reference was made about the dateline program, but no specifics were given.. from the meagre notes and memory, i will try and paraphrase the argument the speaker read from his pre-packaged discourse.
he quoted the text from 1john 5:19, ....the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.

They always hit in a suddle way! That's why it's brainwashing! That's why it is a cult! They use physcology to fend off any who want to think independently from the org and make their own thought processing work!
I agree they are missing the BIG picture!! Protect the CHILDREN!! But no, all they want to protect is the organization and keep the drones in line!
What a MESS!!

TIME, TIME, TIME! That is what really counts to JW's. Not PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE!
I was a pioneer. And I have to say a very conscience one. But at the same time when I really needed help and encouragement, even asking for help for my family, none came. I begged for ten years as I watched my marriage go down the tubes. NOBODY came!! NOBODY cared!! But they sure would go out and get their ten hours in service. No, they don't help. But if you slip up, make a mistake, and really need guidance-they are there in a hurry "to keep the org clean" and hear all the dirty details. The sad part is if we had the right mind, instead of blindly following a "mother organization", we probably could have handled things on our own and been fine.
Disgusted with the whole idea of counting time instead of making time count!! Lollylou
