Myth or Fact

the non-rationality of a myth is its very essence, for religion requires a demonstration of total faith by the suspension of logic or critical doubt.. all stories which occur in the bible are truths for the devout christian, whether they correspond to historical fact or not.

all human societies have myths in this sence, and normally the myths to which the greatest importance is attached are those which are the least probable.

it is common for all religious systems to make sure all important stories recur in several different versions.. man is created in genesis 1 verse 27 and then is created all over again in 2 verse 7. and, as if the two first men were not enough, we also have noah in chapter 8.

Sometimes the truth may be Leached out of these myths.

Or is it: These myths Leach the truth out of our daily existence (?)

ok, i live in one of, if not the most racially divided states in america and it took me a while but i've finally gotten used to it.

i ignore most of this 1960's mentality that is so prevalent and just go on living my life without caring what people think or how they act..i have enough to deal with.

however i honestly think this is going a little too far.

Sometimes volunteering to help in the classroom can give you a feel for where a teacher is coming from.

I think that is what I would do in this case, get to know the teacher, then go from there, because it can be difficult to try and figure out what motivates a person when you really don't get to know them.

If you know for a fact that this teacher has a problem with your son and other children of color, you have every right to call her on it. The main benefit your son would receive would be your showing him by your example that it is sometimes necessary to question/challenge offensive practices. I am sure you are aware and have weighed any repercussions this might have for your son also.

It is important not to let anyone's bullshit get in the way of a child's education. Hopefully, parents are working to inoculate their children against racism - this includes making sure that if a child does become the target of discrimination, she/he does not internalize it.

I remember looking through someone's yearbook circa 1987 and seeing how everything was segregated by race; there was even a Black Prom King/Queen on one page, and a White Prom King/Queeen on another. It was really weird. I hope things have changed since then.

i'm so excited, when i lived in alaska, i used to hunt quite a bit.

but, the last time i went hunting, it was for kodiak grizzly bear.

i had never went after something so large before.

having looked at all the stunts he puts himself through, my jw beliefs come into play and i truly think he might be possessed by a demon that gets pleasure out of torturing the poor idiot.. would love to read your thoughts on this issue..

He's just following his heart. He is exploring what his limits are. I don't think that's so crazy.

Multiple boards/Multiple personalities?

going from board to board i notice how certain people who post will be so different on other board, while some don't change their style.. do you change your personality or style when you post on other boards and try to fit in and be accepted there, or do remain yourself no matter where you post?
