  ok, i've done the beer survey, now its the mixed drinks survey.. i personally like the 4 horseman (1/4 jack 1/4 rum 151, 1/4 everclear, and 1/4 tequila).

  it'll put you on your ass quick.

  i also like a good bull buster (yager w/ red bull).

  did anyone else watch the pilot of showtime's new show, the l-word?.

  it stars jennifer beals(flashdance), and laurel holloman, and it is a like a combination of sex in the city and a female queer as folk.. .

  it's about time they had show centering around lesbians!

  my mom was telling me about this new family that moved in next door.

  they have a bunch of kids and one, my sister's age.

  they are devout catholics and forbid their children to watch any disney movies; as disney has made fun of the pope (i've never heard of this).

  I have heard of Disney being boycotted because of having Gay Day, but the making fun of the Pope reason was new to me.

  I found some info about the Disney boycott at the Catholic League site. (I guess the boycott is ongoing?)

  Women's Fashion Woes...a fluffy rant

  okay...the fluff is running rampant on jwd this weekend, so i'm just jumpin' in with my .02...... i hate the way fashion designers dictate what we're gonna be wearing for the next year or two or three (if they can't come up with something new and innovative or retro to titillate the egos).

  take for instance those needle-nosed shoes they're pandering to the public lately.....besides being extremely uncomfortable and likely to trip the wearer up with the extra length required to extend the toes of the shoes to a needle point, has anyone seen what they do to ppl's feet years later???

  just visit your local nursing home and take a gander at all the hammer toes, bunions and crossed toes of old peeps that were slaves to similar fashions decades ago!

  as some of you know, i lost 5 stone on my own diet and have now been the same weight for a year.

  i have just joined a gym to build my muscle back up.

  i was wondering if anyone here knows anything about muscle supplements.

  most of us here would agree that alot of men in the wts use and abuse the scriptures to keep women under the thumb.

  we have seen time and again how some married brothers like to have the wife and daughters 6 paces behind him.

  Well, my guess is that some of the "sisters" that engaged in such manipulative behavior may have done so out of resentment due to being in such a misogynistic organization.

  I think the bible has been used by both men and women equally in power, yet in different ways, to control and manipulate people.- BLISSISIGNORANCE

  Women and men have never had an equal footing in the JWs. And while there may have been some female on male control/manipulation, it was, IMO mostly going on "behind closed doors".

  The main control/manipulation was of men over women (let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence) and it was well out in the open.

  But I do agree that manipulating/controling people can come from both sexes.
