2 Corinthians 2:17 "Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God". ~ I used to wonder about this bible text as I went door to door offering subscriptions and accepting donations for the WTBT$.

What has helped you avoid the doctrine roundabout and forever chasing your tail?
by Fernando ini was a third generation born-in with no alternative reality, reference points or framework.. for more than forty years i was taught that the highest stakes (eternal life) main game is played on the doctrine playing field (supremacist ethnocentrism).
my eternal future apparently depended on which side of the trinity, hellfire and immortal soul doctrines i played.. apparently if i believed the watchtower way, even if it changed, i was in "the faith" and "the truth".
the same for legalism (supremacist self-righteousness attained by following the supposedly "right" but ever changing and inconsistent rules).. around 6 years ago, and for the first time in my life, one person asked me to explain what "the gospel" is in one word.

What has helped me? I gave up on religion, anything to do with religion and now just enjoy my life without it. I hope that you will be able to do the same. Be Free...Just say'n....

Do JWs even mention the 'generation' teaching to new studies?
by lisaBObeesa inthe other thread got me to wondering if people who are studies ever even learn about the current generation teaching.. is the current generation teaching part of the book that is used with studies now?

I would never teach something that I don't understand myself. I guess that's their approach in respect to this new "Generation" light. The "Generation" theory will eventually be shelved next to the Beth Sarim deed.

Regular pioneers to be nominated by BOE
by yalbmert99 inapparently the regular pioneers will be nominated by the body of elders, not bethel.
however, elders will have to send bethel a notification when a pioneer is nominated or removed..

Could it be that by this method they can sustain that these folks are not volunteers and have never represented the Watchtower?

Was everyone surprised by how nice worldly people can be?
by Inisc ini, like most born ins grew up being taught that everyone who was not a jw was inherently wicked, that they were dishonest, unloving, selfish, bad parents who don't care about their children, and also sad empty people with no direction in life.. as i grew older i started to see that this wasn't always true with every one, that what i was taught wasn't equating with what i was seeing.. by high school i could see that my friends at school, (yes worldly friends eek!
) we're actually decent people with morals, they may have engaged in a little fornication here and there but not promiscuously, and they were good honest people, with goals and parents that cared for them.. but after high school i was phsycologicaly bullied into ceasing contact with my friends altogether, leaving me with little contact with outside world, and the cult mentality had more room to grow, not fully, but enough to unconsciously not fully trust 'worldly' people.. however, once i'd left the org and began to meet people again, i was amazed at actually how good, honest, loving, kind, and caring many people can be!
who love their spouses and children and try their very best to be good parents and partners.

I was not born in but had spent most of my life in this abominable organization. It struck me also that there could be sweet, nice, workable, sharing, caring people outside of the org. I mean, mustn't they have some demonic traits to them since they are not JW? Then it struck me... Jesus said that Satan cannot be divided within himself... Light has no bearing with darkness... "Worldly" folk are no different then any other folk. They are us and we are them. This org is what tries to divide people so they can conquer and survive as a business. I like worldly people. I have never been anything else. Just say'n

No can I get out of going in service?
by Captain Obvious inas some of you who read my previous thread know, my matrix moment has passed, and i am on my way out.
i am trying very hard to fade slowly in hopes that my wife will wake up, and maybe my family too.
the problem is, my conscience still works well, and i don't want to go out in if service and tell people things that i know aren't true.

I have heard that in Teocratic warfare, it's ok to lie. If you just don't want to leave the org just yet but eventually will, just make up a study at work and report that time. Who cares! Have of these monthly reports are just fluff anyway. Up to you. I wouldn't stress it.

Anyone been to a meeting after a drink...or three?
by MMXIV ini recall going to the second half of a thursday night meeting after what was meant to be a cheeky after work beer (three strong beers downed quickly on an empty stomach).
i would have been ok had a caring elder not decided to grab me for some encouragement afterwards.. i hoped the faint odor of smoke on my clothes (smoking in pubs was still the done thing in those days) wouldn't be noticed but hard to hide alcohol on the breath.
i tried to say very little and talk in a way that avoided me beathing over him.

Honestly... I thought I was the only one to go to the KH after a fews drinks. It was the only way I could just sit down and watch the commercials.
