JW wife loves Wiz of OZ...says it is not demonic in any way??
by oompa ini like the movie...and ya...it is a classic.... but it has always given me the creeps!
how do flyin demon-like monkeys....green witches....and wizards (fake ones like the fds)...not reek of satan and his demon buddies....there are even stories about creepy things happening during the filming of the movie......... oompa.
but those little singin munchkin midgets early on just freak me out....kinda like the memorial..........

Of course the Wizard of Oz is ok with the JWs..its ABOUT THEM. Everyone relying on this all powerful wizard to fulfill their every wish and desire in life and all good little JWs believe in him and take the treacherous path full of naysayers to kneel before the Governing Body in Emerald City (Brooklyn Heights) and to be sent out on useless quests (door to door) to destroy all enemies in order to receive their prizes! And even then only to be let down and betrayed by a bunch of bumbling self righteous UNpowerful men who hide behind smoke screens and booming voices and can do NOTHING AT ALL to help their weary followers!

We have probably all felt that treipidation when we were JWs though...i recall I think in 1985 it being declared the "Year of Peace and Security" and omygod the reaction just hearing those WORDS used created in us as JWs!! And all the religious leaders of the world were going to meet in a summit and something BIG was gonna happen and and and....that was 23 years ago and still nothing. And there will continue to be nothing.
How exactly does anyone BAN a religion or religions anyway? If I said to the Pope, "sorry dude religion has been outlawed." Would he stop believing? Would ANY body of faith stop believing what they believe? You can BAN people from DOING things but you cant remove their faith or their church from within them. People ARE the church honey.
I agree that you do need to see someone who is a cult specialist to help you through your fears. Every time someone says boo you are going to freak out and thats no way to live.

I had a friend who lived close by and every day there was drama in her marriage in front of her two small boys. The man she was married to abused her physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually...every way he could. And yet when he finally filed for divorce she BEGGED him not to and told me that even if it continued the way it was she didnt care as long as he was still there because BEING SINGLE and DIVORCED terrified her more than he did.
She is finally out of that house and lo and behold...he is no different than when she was there and has killed every relationship he has has with the same terror tactics he pulled on his wife.
Sometimes you have to learn to love yourself or you will never be free of the bondage.

OMG! a horrible lie in the July WT with a jesus pic....
by oompa inbad day today...how the hey did everyone miss this??
?....or did i miss a post about it?.....i am not supposed to talk about anything jw with my hardcore jw wife...but while on the toilet takin care of biz..i was reading the lit she leaves in a basket...it was a wt..july 08, but dont know which one....once i showed it to her it disappeared...but damm the last page i think... it had a drawing of jesus and the text under it said this "jesus used the name jehovah in his prayers"....or close....and that is a fluckkin lie!...zero support for it!...so i said just freakin show me where he did...i think my pants were still down...i had already come to terms with the fact that jesus never once uttered the name jehovah ever...because what kid...esp in a serious discussion with his dad (like prayer) would ever call him by his first name???
?...she disagreed...how i dont know...but where is the evidence that jesus ever said the divine name in a prayer?!?!!??

Jesus was Jewish. The Jews never said or wrote the divine name. So why would the Son of God be an exception? In his model prayer he said to "pray like this...Our Father...." wouldnt that have been a GREAT opportunity for the Divine One to say "Jehovah God we....."
Its right back to them stretching their beliefs to fit the Bible like putting a condom on a bowling ball.

Well it says 2009 so thats a clue :) The war will end...Im thinking fairly quickly. We need to cut our losses and get the hell out of there. But we do need to continue to help them rebuild. There will always be militant factions over there overthrowing the governments no matter what we try to set up. The minute we stop spinning the plates over there, it will fall. Getting rid of Saddam was the only good thing that came of all those US deaths.

Ive been married three times...and even with this one in its 22 year we never made it to "happy couple" status. Its weird. Like being single in a marriage. The only time he feels inclined to take me out is our anniversary. The rest of the year I might as well not exist! We are more like roommates with kids.
Oh well..I have three amazing kids who are my life. The whole marriage partner thing apparently wasnt in the cards for me. I really do think he is shunning me from the "inside" here.

Congregation not sending the WBTS enough money ... *sigh*
by easyreader1970 inlast night one of the elders had a part in the service meeting where he informed the congregation that we are not sending our fair share to the wbts.
the congregation seems to be doing okay when it comes to contributing to the local congregation so that electric bills can be paid and so forth.
but when it comes to literature (the worldwide work), the congregation is woefully negligent.. according to this brother, a circuit overseer has recently stated that if witnesses still had to pay for their literature as they used to, individual watchtower and awake!
