  Is Copper theft on the rise in your area ??

  it has become unreal in our small hick town.

  people are ripping out water lines in new homes before they are even finished, contractors are losing their minds.... our house has a walk out basement, garage combo with two huge windows.

  all our water lines are copper and visible thru the windows... we're afraid we'll come home one day and they'll all be gone.... air conditioners have become a prime target.

  Yeah its a big problem around here in S. Florida. But the new home building has stopped basically so getting the copper is a bit harder. Its about $2.50 a pound here I think, but now you have to show valid picture ID, they take a photocopy of it, and you have to explain WHERE the copper piping is from. If you cant, they call the police on you. I threw out some scrap aluminum the other day, like maybe four pounds of that, including pieces of siding that had blown into my yard during hurricane Wilma in 05, and it was gone in less than half an hour from the can.

  I do think people are getting desperate. With gas as high as it is, Im basically working to own a car between the lease payment, the insurance and now the gas on it.

  I have two AC units on my house...Im gonna have to go out there and look at them closer to see if we can secure them somehow.

  Comon Obama....get us out of this MESS!

  i was just at roscoe's in long beach when the assembly crowd with their badges on came in.

  i decided that they must want to be approached since they were advertizing their witnesshood on their clothing.

  nothing could be further from the truth.

  Oh yeah...say whatever it takes to get someone into a bible study. Yes your bible is ok to use. No you dont have to go out door to door because thats "voluntary". No you dont have to go to all the meetings. Yes I will always be your friend. No I dont come to visit you JUST to count the hours. No you dont have to be a baptized JW in good standing to live through Armageddon. No of course we dont judge others, thats GODS job. ....

  And when I sat in that child custody case and watched JW after JW sit on the stand and DENY that they say Christmas is evil, deny that they EVER say that the EXJW parent will be killed by God at Armageddon, DENY that they think everyone but them is under Satan, DENY that they ever tell the children with an EXJW as a parent that they should shun that parent...

  Oh yes....their own literature says straight up that anyone who is not a believer is NOT ENTITLED TO THE TRUTH and that includes the COURTS!

  some may have seen this tid-bit being passed around in certain jw email circles.

  a "deeply concerned" jw relative (who knows i have soured on the whole jw thing) emailed this to me in hopes that it would improve my attitude.

  at first i was just going to thank them for their concern and for the "encourgaging" email, but then i decided i must respond to this.

  jehovahs witness refuses to let husband have life-saving blood transfusionby lucy cockcroft last updated: 6:42 am bst 06/06/2008 the wife of a man who is critically ill in hospital has refused to let doctors give him a life-saving blood transfusion because he is a jehovahs witness.john edwards, 57, suffered severe injuries when a motorist suspected of drink-driving knocked him over and medics have warned he could only have days to live if he does not have the transfusion.. but his wife sheila said he has signed a form banning any blood transfusions in the event of an accident or illness, because their religion forbids it.. it is believed she is rejecting repeated pleas from doctors hoping to change her mind.. the couple's sons, jonathan, 36 and tom, 29, do not share their beliefs and it was unclear last night whether they supported their mother's decision.. a family source said: "sheila is adamant that john must not have blood.

  she says giving him a transfusion would be like assaulting him, and he wouldn't want to live knowing he had disobeyed his god.. "she is in a terrible state, constantly in tears at his bedside, but won't give in to requests from anyone.

  The Hope For Our Dying Home-Earth...An Inconvenient Truth

  yesterday it was the day of the global inviroment.

  as i walked to the street going to work, the main square of the capitol was filled with small children and their teachers with huge paintings, songs, art work with recycled elements demanding a cleaner plannet.

  when the old generation will pass those little ones that will take in charge with all the inviromental education they had they will go for a better world.i'm sure about it, you could see it in their small eyes.

  I watched that movie with my middle schooler and I DO believe what Gore said. As long as people continue to poo poo the concept that we are screwing up the planet and turn a lazy ass shoulder to it, it will continue to be dessimated out from under us. I look forward to Obama becoming president and finally kicking somebodys ASS in the rich oil companies and getting us back on track.

  Why I will NEVER be an elder again

  so the po confirmed what many on this board already know.

  at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.

  any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.
